Our sunny, charming cottage offers awesome mountain views, a cozy fireplace, full kitchen, excellent beds, a perfect deck, and a huge yard for your pup to romp. Only 3 blocks from downtown Joseph and a mile from Wallowa Lake, you will love using Serendipity Cottage as your adventure basecamp in Joseph.

The cottage was builtin the 1940s, and we've maintained the original arched doorways, built-in cabinets, and hardwood floors. What you will love about staying here:

Cozy cottage with charm! It is definitely a wonderful place to stay with a dog. The back yard is completely fenced in. The location to downtown was perfect and we love the area!

Don’t miss this place

Very clean, well kept happy house. Very dog friendly. Fenced backyard with lovely well kept lawn. Clean up after Fido so it stays this way! Well stocked and two block walk to town with top shelf views of the Eagle Cap Wilderness and 5-minute drive to Wallowa Lake. A true gem.

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend of snowmobiling. The host had a wonderful information book with everything we could think to ask about. The house was just as described, the bed extremely comfortable. Plenty of room to relax in this cozy cottage. Absolutely would stay there again.

Perfect stat

Cottage is just as advertised… quiet neighborhood close to everything. I was in town for the Sled Dog Race and it was very convenient being close to everything. Very comfortable beds! Hope to be back next year!

Perfect in every way

My husband and I traveled to Joseph with our dog. The house had everything we needed. The yard was perfect for our dog and the neighborhood was fun to explore. The kitchen was very well stocked and the living room was very comfortable. The gas stove warmed the place completely. The bedroom was great with lots of storage for our things. We can’t wait to return in the summer and enjoy the deck.

Perfect place for a long relaxing weekend

The perfect spot for a long weekend. We enjoyed the fireplace, the first snow of the season, and the view of the mountains. It was a short walk into town. Very convenient. Also loved the fenced yard for the dog. We will be back!

their was no air conditioning as advertised temps were in the 80's. I needed a dryer, and I couldn't get it to work. I wanted to Bbq some steaks, the dirtiest, funky unit I have ever seen!! The kitchen table has leaves that should extend...but they were inoperable, we had 2ft. x 3ft. of table space to use!! After this Vrbo experience I cancelled 2 other reservations with Vrbo.

Fantastic getaway for hiking dog lovers!

My dog Sherpa and I hiked, relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed this lovely comfortable cottage in Joseph. Gorgeous views, a huge fenced yard, and all the amenities, including a bathtub for soaking weary limbs after epic hikes into rugged wilderness. An adventurers paradise, especially for dog lovers. We’ll be back!

Very tight quarters

The location of this house is very convenient to downtown area, we frequently walked to eateries and it had a nice deck that looked out over the mountains. This is a very small home. The bedrooms and bathroom are very tight. With 4 adults staying there, there is minimal space for toiletries, hanging wet towels and maneuvering around the room safely. The TV is older and only connects to Amazon Prime and Netflix. No local TV or weather available. We were even able to sign on to our own streaming services such as YouTube. For the cost of renting this property, we did not get anything near what I expected.

Nice relaxing stay

This was a great place to stay for the week with my wife and two Shiba Inu’s. Great location and Joseph was a blast. Stephanie was so welcoming to us. We cherish our vacations and this was just what we needed to decompress from very demanding jobs. We also celebrated our 20 year wedding anniversary while we were here. Our dogs loved the backyard and hanging out with the deer. Thank you for a great experience! Jeff and Christa

A great little cottage

Once again we had a wonderful stay at the Serendipity Cottage. Super clean, well equipped and close to everything. Our poodles love the big, fenced yard. We had a minor issue with the TV and the coffee maker and Adam and Stephanie both came by and got us set up. They are excellent hosts!

Comfortable and convenient cabin

This cabin is perfectly (walking) located close to town for enjoying all that Joseph has to offer. The home is clean and well appointed with comfortable beds and spaces. We had three people staying with no issues in space or bathroom time. The host was quick to respond to all communication and welcoming in all of her responses. Although we ended up leaving the dog at home with a petsitter, the cabin was ready for a canine companion with bowls, dog towels etc. I hope to come back and stay during the winter! I would not hesitate to recommend this cabin to my friends and family.

Great family vacation!

So glad we went! Joseph, OR is a hidden gem. So much to do and see. All the outdoor fun you could want. This little 2 bedroom cottage was just right for our family and dog. Close to downtown, places to walk the dog around, and a fenced in spacious back yard. We look forward to returning.

Nice place to stay in Joseph

We came a bit early in the season - most things open up Memorial Day weekend. But for our first time to the area we really enjoyed the scenery & it was great having a comfortable place to stay. Appreciated the kitchen items although we didn’t cook. The closest grocery store is in Enterprise. Embers Brewhouse was a great place to eat. My husband loved the fries with his Traeger-grilled burger.

A perfect spot to take in this charming town!

We had a wonderful week in this sweet little cottage that has a way of taking you back in time while meeting all of the basic needs, along with plenty of little touches of modern and care from the hosts. Stephanie and her husband arrived with snow shovels to clear out the driveway upon a heavy snowfall, and her communication was top notch! Great people who love what they do. Looking forward to our next visit!

Clean, cozy and comfy cottage in the heart of Joseph

Perfect little house on a quiet street in Joseph for a mountain escape - Stephanie was responsive, helpful and friendly, and the cottage was clean, stocked with essentials and well kept with a huge yard for our dog and patio to sit outside and marvel at the beautiful mountains. Lots of natural light, indoor fireplace was tricky to operate but we figured it out, and did not try the outdoor firepit (which is a great bonus!) The kitchen felt small for 4 people but the overall living space was comfortable and had everything we needed (extra towels, laundry supplies, closet space). The house is walking distance from downtown (everything in Joseph seems to be) but away from the main strip, and a short drive to the lake and mountains. Closest large grocery store is Safeway in Enterprise (this goes for all rentals in Joseph). Highly recommend - we'll be back for our next visit to Joseph!

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

We first started visiting Joseph in 1998 when a previous coworker offered to lend us her cottage for the weekend. It was during that weekend that we first fell in love with Joseph and the amazing Wallowa Mountains. Over the years, we continued to travel to the area to hike, camp and ski and became serious about purchasing a home there in 2011.

In 2013, after diligent house hunting, we found a house that we felt good about and prepared to make an offer. On the way to her office to write the offer, our real estate agent insisted we see one more house that we originally refused to look at because it was out of our price range. Upon setting foot inside the house, we instantly recognized it as the little cottage my coworker lent to us back in 1998! Needless to say, it was serendipitous--meant to be! And that little house, OUR house, is the one that we are excited to share with you.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

We chose to purchase in Joseph, rather than Wallowa Lake because we like the easy access to amenities like restaurants and shops, and we like the sunshine! The homes in the community of Wallowa Lake are tucked right up against the mountain-side, making the days feel shorter and cooler once the sun goes behind the mountain. Where ever you choose, this neck of the wood is amazing. We think you'll love it here!
