Self catering for Garden lovers 1.5 miles from Masham A delightful detached stone-built cottage in rolling countryside. This Masham cottage set over the first floor to take advantage of the lovely views. An ideal country retreat for a small family or those looking for a break. Featuring a warm and cosy sitting room with stove. This Masham cottage offers a welcome of home made bread and cake milk and a bottle of wine and fresh flowers. The guest have access to 1.5 acres of walled garden with croquet and other games barbecue, hammock, picnic area, summerhouse and shepherds hut . The orchard is home to lambs to watch. The Market town of Masham has twice-weekly Market brewery visitor centers, Vennell's award-winning restaurant Black Sheep Bistro and a good choice of pubs. There are lots of walks around the area, including a recently reopened 10mile walk along the Ure, arguably one of the best walks in the U.K. The town boasts a good range of crafts, galleries and shops. The Market towns of Richmond, Leyburn and Hawes are within reach

Extremely nice accommodation in the grounds of a stone house with large gardens. Host left a warm welcome and the location was perfect for seeing North Yorkshire. We would definitely go again!

One of the best places we have stayed ever - every attention to detail on what is needed at stayed at a property - kitchen fully equipped, lighting for reading great all through the property and property beautifully clean. We could have done with instructions on how to use the TV. And if you cant do the access steps this is not for you!!A really good property in a wonderful country.

This was the ideal location for us. We enjoyed the comfortable home, the beautiful garden and the local landscape.Robert and Janet were helpful and kind hosts.We enjoyed walking along the River Ure, visiting Hackfall and the Himalayan Gardens, and exploring the Dales.

We had a wonderful stay at the Mews Masham. The property was cosy and clean, the host was very friendly. The location was excellent, our son loved walking around the garden. One difficulty I encountered was the WiFi as I needed to do some work. I needed to go to a local pub for a meeting. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Lovely short break.

Great property, and great welcome. Had a short break for new year, the property is easy to get to, good parking, and a lovely home from home feel. Comfortable lounge, spacious kitchen, everything you need, and really appreciated a very nice treat of home baked cream sponge cake (extremely good), bread (made top toast), and wine. Thanks so much to the owners.

Excellent Property

The property was everything it said and more. We were in Yorkshire primarily for work, but in our two days off we explored and we entranced by the lovely area. Now we have had a taster, we will come back to visit properly and we will book this property again. Thank you

Holiday let

The cottage and gardens are wonderful, the owners are very helpful and friendly, couldn't fault it. Only thing that was a slight problem is the stairs up to the property, I hadn't noticed that it said first floor, the stairs could cause issues with anyone with mobility problems.

Absolute Luxury

This property had everything and more,very accommodating hosts,we were greeted with a bottle of chilled wine, a delicious home made Victoria sponge and a bottle of milk. The interior is 5 *,so comfortable, spacious and peaceful . For the garden and wildlife enthusiast you will struggle to find a better location. Superb views from various vantage points throughout the property The location is central to some great attractions. We are very keen to return

Wonderful summer holiday

We stayed in this cottage for nearly two weeks in July. The cottage was very clean, enough space for a family of four, well appointed kitchen. The owners are very nice and welcoming, and of course there is the absolutely lovely garden. Our boys (8 and 10) loved playing with the zip wire! There is so much to do in Yorkshire, beautiful countryside and lots of things to do for children. We were all sad that we had to leave.

Lovely family holiday

I recently stayed here with my husband and two kids age 5 and 4. The Mews was lovely, with really comfy beds and hotel-standard bedding. The wood burner was really cosy and Janet even baked us a cake and gave us a bottle of wine, which made us feel very welcome. The views from the windows are lovely and you can see pheasants. We were delighted to be able to explore the amazing garden and even have a go on the home-made zip-wire! There is so much to do in the area for families- we barely scraped the surface and would have loved to stay longer. Thanks again to Janet and her husband who were always available if we needed them and were very friendly.

Idyllic Christmas Break

After deciding to go away for Christmas, I had to narrow it down to somewhere reasonably close to close to home as didn’t want a long drive on Christmas Eve. The Mews, close to Masham, seemed to fit the bill - it turned out to be perfect. A lovely personal welcome from the owner Janet, the Mews was clean, cosy and welcoming. The personal touches of freshly made cream cake, mince pies and chilled Prosecco were most appreciated. Being on the first floor, the views from all the rooms were beautiful and we enjoyed watching the pheasants in the fields. All in all it was an ideal choice and we have no hesitation in recommending it and would certainly consider a return visit in the future.

Outstanding Dales cottage

We three men, myself, my bother and my nephew stayed at the Mews for 5 glorious days in June 2023. The accommodations exceeded our expectations in every way. We found every room to be spotless and tidy and not at all snug; and I mean that as the highest compliment. Some previous accommodations in which we have stayed were far to snug for our liking. The Mews is spacious and airy. Our hosts are very kind people. Their gardens are magnificent. Coming from the USA on our fifth visit to North Yorkshire we expected lush gardens but Janet and Robert do an excellent job with their gardens and I appreciated a morning or evening stroll. We would stay there again in a minute. The location offers easy access to Masham and the Dales yet is quiet and peaceful. It was just what we needed. Great job and thank you again for a wonderful stay.

Great place to stay. Janet is a brilliant host. She left a cake for us which was delicious( i asked for recipe ) Flat is very nicely done, in a traditional style. Garden and orchards are an absolute joy. Plum, Apple, and Pear all trees were loaded with fruit. There is a zip line installed which was loved by my boys. Indoor games, specially the table tennis was thoroughly joyful. We had a small BBQ with is which we were able to use in the picnic area. Area around flat is just beautiful. There are water falls, trails etc. There is a wet land reserve a couple of minutes drive away, full of wild life. Dairy Ice cream parlour 4 minutes drive away was almost a daily visit for is. We wanted to go to fountain Abby and Himalayan gardens but couldn’t so that’s probably for next visit. We spent a much needed time together and good weather was the cherry on the top. 10/10.

Beautiful location and gorgeous gardens. Clean cottage with great comfortable beds, and lovely views of the countryside. Welcomed with a lovely sponge cake, fresh flowers and delicious wine. Loved the original artwork in the cottage.Two major elements that affected our stay, that could be corrected with additional descriptions on the listing: 1. Laundry facilities are available, but are in the owner's house and only available when the owner is present on the property, and need to be let in to a private part of the home. The laundry is not freely available within the self catered cottage - difficult when travelling with children and needing to launder clothes on our own schedule.2. Wifi is available, however the speed is better suited for occasional email, not for much more. One of us has remote work and it took ages for any pages to load, forget about your zoom meeting.If you are not needing Wi-Fi or laundry, fantastic!

11/10!Janet and Robert were very hospitable, helpful and friendly hosts. They responded quickly up any questions we sent prior to arriving. The bottle of wine and cake that we found in the fridge were a lovely surprise too. The cottage was spacious and well appointed and the views were lovely. We were very comfortable. Masham is a lovely town and is well located for touring around the Yorkshire Dales and moors. We couldn’t have made a better choice and would definitely stay there again.

Lovely homely cottage

Felt really at home here and enjoyed our stay. Great location with easy access to the Dales, York and Harrogate. The cake and the wine were a lovely touch and much appreciated.

Wonderful Yorkshire

Many thanks to the property owners Janet & Robert for their kind input and the opportunity to stay in accommodation that was more than worthy. We visited many interesting places in this beautiful area on our days out with Masham being the close to home village that was very pleasant with friendly people and good amenities. we purchased our house in 1994 it was in great need of love and attention, which we gave it for 5 years and the Mews is the converted stables to our house
We have a walled garden of 1.5 acres with orchard with shepherds hut , croquet lawn, barbecue, picnic area, hammock with summerhouse and small woodland walk with wild life pond

Masham is the gateway to Wensleydale situated at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. To the west the Pennine Hills and to the east Vale of York. Set in unspoilt countryside there is plenty to see and do in the immediate area and it is an ideal base for touring further a field. There are many good dining pubs and an award winning restaurant in Masham also Swinton Park Hotel with leisure centre. In Masham there are Theakstons and Black Sheep Brewwerys both have visiter tours.
