Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate all feedback from our guests, although we do feel that some aspects of your review do not accurately reflect the property or the information provided at the time of booking. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few points for future guests. House rules We would also like to mention that, during your stay, the house rules regarding animals were not followed, as stray cats were allowed inside the property and onto the furniture. As a result, I had to ask our housekeepers to take the cats to a local rescue centre and arrange a deep clean following your departure. Despite this, and because we felt we had maintained good communication and a positive rapport throughout your stay, we chose not to retain any funds or report the matter to Vrbo. Living area and indoor comfort The sofa is far from well worn and has only been in use for two seasons, approximately 10 months in total. A small water stain has been noted, which is why we use throws to protect the sofa from further damage. The photographs on our listing are an accurate representation of its current condition. Regarding indoor comfort, we have not previously received similar feedback. The property is presented accurately in our photographs, and the majority of our guests enjoy using the house as a comfortable base from which to explore Rhodes, its beautiful beaches, island life and, of course, the outdoor spaces. Books, games and storage There is storage space for books and games within the wardrobes. We provide playing cards and a selection of books, although many guests understandably spend much of their time exploring the island. During your stay, our housekeepers kindly brought you additional books, which we understand you made use of. Third bedroom The third bedroom is clearly shown in the photographs and described in the listing as open plan. We are always transparent with guests who may be considering using this space. As your booking was for two adults who would not be using the third bedroom, this was not something discussed during the booking process. Gym facilities As acknowledged in our WhatsApp correspondence, I apologise for the misrepresentation regarding the gym. I had previously advised that a yoga mat and weights were available for your use. The listing referred to a gym rather than specific gym equipment. We removed the equipment earlier this year for hygiene reasons and have since amended the listing to ensure clarity for future guests. Library and bathroom There was no mention of a library in our listing, so I am not entirely sure where this expectation arose. Similarly, the listing photographs clearly show the new bathroom, which no longer has a bathtub. This was also the case at the time your booking was confirmed. Outdoor seating We have never previously received concerns regarding the seating arrangements. The day before your arrival, myself and my family of five had been staying at the property without any difficulty in this regard. Many guests enjoy the flexibility of moving the garden chairs around to make the most of the sunshine or shade, depending on their preference. The balconies and garden are designed to offer different spaces to relax. We genuinely believe we went above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable and to respond to your requests. We always appreciate and welcome constructive feedback, as it helps us continually improve the experience we offer. However, we feel this review presents a somewhat misleading overall impression of Citrus House, particularly when many of the points raised are clearly addressed in the listing photographs and description. Citrus House is a semi-detached property, thoughtfully designed to offer comfortable accommodation and an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful outdoor lifestyle that Rhodes has to offer. We take great pride in providing an honest, welcoming and well-maintained holiday home, and we hope future guests will feel confident in booking with us. Thanks Karen

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. I am disappointed you have submitted such a negative review of our lovely Greek property. We have had so many previous guests that have thoroughly enjoyed their stay and have submitted very positive reviews. I do wonder how your review would have read had you have received the refund you demanded? I refer back to our communications and I am still surprised that your travel insurance company would not cover you for CV19 lock-down as you were already enjoying your stay at the Citrus House. The Whatsapp messages we exchanged sharing with me your enjoyment of the villa and Kalavarda, accompanied with beautiful photographs of the Villa, the meals and drinks you enjoyed on the balcony watching the sunset over adjacent citrus grove. I was also delighted to view your personal Instagram account, again you sharing lovely photographs of your holiday which in my opinion certainly did not look like someone who was having a terrible time! My offer still stands to allow you to take three weeks free of charge up to the end of 2022. I regard myself as very professional and it does not sit well to have this ‘tit for tat’ exchange on HomeAway but I feel I must address your unfounded comments about my property. The extra night’s charge – The villa booking was confirmed as per your requested dates. You later advised me that your flights had changed and you would arrive a day early. I agreed to this & charged you less than the average day rate to which you were happy with. If you checked into a hotel 18 hours, are you telling me you’d expect to stay for free? Extra charge for visitors – I communicated via Homeaway that I would allow visitors to stay for up to one week at no extra charge, anything longer I asked that you would be honest and that we would come to an agreement to cover extra use of the utilities. You were more than happy with this. Offer of extending your stay – At no point did I mention ‘I need the money’ I contacted you via Whatsapp to check on your welfare and to reassure you that if you chose to or needed to stay longer due to flight restrictions or lock-down then the house was available until the end of June & that we would come to an agreement for a small charge to cover the use of utilities, not to profit from the worldwide pandemic, but to offer you a helping hand!. The issues you have raised on here were not communicated to myself or our housekeeper during your two occasions you met for coffee.

Hi Nina, thanks for your feedback. I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay at The Citrus House and loved the island as much as we do. I'm sorry you was disappointmented with the third bedroom, however we have never had a question about it and as you say it's great for children as it saves them being woken by the sunrise. I'm sure you'd agree it is a spacious and cooler room as the sun doesn't get in yet still plenty of light as it is open plan. A dishwasher would be lovely I agree, also as a busy mum :) Most guests only really eat breakfast and maybe prepare lunches on the odd occasion then eating out on the evening so it's not something thats ever been raised.
