Very clean,comfortable,pet friendly house in a quiet hamlet with facilities 5/6 minutes away. Lovely pool and large enclosed garden. Host was very helpful and we would have loved to have been able to book for longer.

We have had an amazing holiday with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandchildren, age 8,6 and 4. The farmhouse is lovely with lots of French character, and the pool and garden is brilliant , with the kids playing in the pool until late evening. The facilities are really good, large internal and external table with plenty of chairs for large families. The beds are very comfortable and the two shower rooms , one on each level works really well. There’s nice local village with amazing bakery and plenty to do close by. Fabulous relaxing time with family and wouldn’t think twice about returning.

Total relaxation

Nice property in a very quiet hamlet location. Good facilities with everything supplied for what you need. Nice user guide put together with lots of restaurant suggestions and things to do near by and further afield.

Our country holiday .

We had the most amazing stay. The accommodation was everything thing we expected and more. We had a great week by the pool. We would say the only problem we had was the pool alam going off at night time .

Great house for a family stay

Lovely house with plenty of space and a fab pool. Everything was provided including lots of games to play in the evening and there was a very useful information booklet about the house and the area. The nearest village is just about walking distance with a boulangerie and a bar/cafe. The closest supermarket was only 10 minutes by car. The area was very pretty and there were interesting old towns to explore. Many thanks for a great stay!

Very comfortable and well equipped

Excellent communication and support from both owner and manager. The best equipped rental I’ve experienced in France (and I come at least once a year). Decent kitchen equipment, sharp knives, modern yet cosy and rustic, comfortable mattresses, comprehensive information folder, great pool. Eve try thing in great condition. Would thoroughly recommend.

Superb

Lovely very well decorated spotless property, equipped with high quality kitchen ware, towels and bed linen. Pool well maintained and pool towels provided ( a must with four kiddies in and out of the pool !) . Bakery and a super little pizza/steak restaurant a few mins drive away both excellent and supermarkets not much further. The local area is very pretty and peaceful,and the pretty village of Nanteuil en Vallee a short drive away where we ate out a couple of times in the Auberge De L’Argentor as recommended by Mike and we were not disappointed . Over all it was a fabulous holiday we came back refreshed.😊

Really nice...

Perfect place, in a perfect area. Nice and quiet with all the things you need to have inside, such as pots and pans. The upstairs bedrooms were very hot even with the provided fans but it was 39 degrees in the day so unless air con is installed there isn't much that can be done about that. The beds were really comfortable. The pool was lovely and private. Sally popped in for 10 minutes every other day to sort out the pool chemicals and cleaning and was very respectful of privacy and was lovely. Overall very nice place.

Lovely area - let down by property

Property not cleaned - bedding not fit for purpose - one towel per adult for two weeks - one threadbare and full of holes. Dirty leaking swimming pool - needed filling on a daily basis - decked area around the pool dangerous- decking boards warped with screws rising - huge trip hazard and cut feet with the screws. Fountain not working - very little information regarding rubbish collection - certainly not what we expected for what we paid - very disappointed and feel we have been ‘ripped off’. Was told by the person checking on the pool that it would be refurbished next year but was difficult trying to fit this in around lettings - THEN DON’T LET until sorted. Do not wish to spend our holidays having to clean before we start and continually having to monitor pool issues.

Wonderfully relaxing holiday 🇫🇷☀️😍

We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing fortnight at Le Grange. The house is beautifully decorated and well equipped. Comfortable beds, plenty of storage for your clothes and belongings, modern kitchen equipment meeting all your culinary needs, 2 fridges to accommodate plenty of chilled drinks as well as your food, a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer! The children all enjoyed exploring the vast dvd and book collection on offer during our stay. The host, Mike, was very prompt at replying to our messages and was more than helpful. Annie and Steve who help look after the gite were really lovely, non intrusive and we enjoyed learning about the area and expat life from them! The pool is wonderfully warm and equal depth throughout which was good for our younger children. There are plenty of sun loungers and chairs and parasols for your comfort. However, the pool and poolside area is in need of an upgrade as they are showing signs of wear and tear. The directions through the app were spot on and the welcome booklet helpful. There have been differing reviews on how long it takes to walk to Lizant, the local village, it took me a good 30mins each way, walking at pace to buy our morning croissants and baguettes! We recommend booking a table at the bar as it gets very busy if you choose to eat there at the weekend. The pizzas are delicious 😋 We would definitely love to return!

Nous avons passé un super séjour entre amis. Le logement est très fonctionnel et très bien équipé, il y a un livret d’accueil hyper détaillé c’est top. La piscine était bien chaude et nous avons eu du beau temps un vrai régal. L’endroit est vraiment très calme parfait en famille ou entre amis ! Notre hôte était très réactif et très arrangeant. Peaceful rural gite

The gîte is lovely and the pool fantastic, especially as we were there during a heatwave so we didn’t do too many trips. The gîte has everything one could need, with v comfortable beds and good quality bed linen. Lovely cycling on quiet country roads surrounded by sunflowers. All communication with Mike very easy, and a special big thank you to Sally who was very kind and understanding when our car broke down delaying our departure on the last day.

An Ideal Summer Retreat

We have just enjoyed our third consecutive summer stay in La Grange, a picturesque renovated period farmhouse located in classic French countryside. Comfortable, well-appointed and extremely well maintained, La Grange feels wonderfully remote, yet this ideal retreat is close to Civray, a charming and animated little town which has excellent services and where everyone, it seems, is friendly. Mike, the owner, seems to have thought of everything one might need, including an extensive file of clear information about the house and about the area. We would also give Mike A+ for communication before our stay! Sally, who maintains the house and beautiful property, is nearby, congenial, and very helpful. The owner makes regular refinements to the accommodation and property, and one feels, not like a transient, but like a very welcome guest in someone else's home. The area is full of surprises: a cycling paradise, outstanding restaurants, Gallo-roman and Neolithic ruins, astonishingly beautiful villages - every one seems more charming than the last! - and no end of natural and architectural delights. We left each time with memories of relaxed evenings chatting by the pool or around the huge farm table, enjoying local cognac and wine as well as prepared dishes we found in local shops. An ideal place to spend a summer retreat with your family or group. The area boasts more sunshine than most other places in France.

Extremely clean and welcoming

The property was extremely clean and welcoming. Good kitchen and comfortable snug. Not as private as we would have liked as overlooked by neighbours. Perhaps a little over visited by lady looking after the pool. Great info on things to do and lots of options within easy driving distance for some fantastic restaurants

Lovely family holiday

This was the perfect property for a relaxing family holiday. We were two families and our children all loved the heated pool which kept them entertained all week, even when we had some rain. This gave the adults plenty of opportunity for relaxing on the loungers on the decking. There is a small village within walking/scooting distance (about 20 mins) where there is a bakery which sells croissants, pain au chocolate and delicious bread etc. The bar in the village also does food and has a pizza night. There are supermarkets only a short drive away for supplies and lots of pretty villages nearby to explore by car. We also did an evening visit to Futuroscope which we all enjoyed. The property itself is very clean and well maintained. We can't wait to visit again.

An ideal French country retreat

You will find La Grange in the beautiful and quiet countryside of Poitou-Charentes, surrounded by wheat and sunflower fields, a cycling paradise. The period farmhouse is close to amenities such as the excellent bakery and little café in the beautiful village of Lizant, not three kilometers away, and the flourishing market, traiteurs, cafés and supermarkets of Civray, a charming town just a little farther away in the opposite direction. The period farmhouse itself is both spacious and cozy, and the renovation was a family project and a labour of love. Mike, the landlord, promptly answers all questions, and Sally, who lives nearby, takes very good care of tenants. The house is extremely well equipped, from barbeque to books, and the well-maintained pool completes this ideal retreat. The fascinating region has been a crossroads of civilizations. The first thing we did, when we returned home after our first summer, was to reserve for a second year. We have still not seen all the historic sites, picturesque villages and diverse restaurants in the area – and we plan to return for a third year.

Lovely,relaxing holiday.

Spent 3 wonderful weeks here in September and thoroughly enjoyed it even though the weather could have been better for the first fortnight. The house is very clean, homely and very well equipped and EVERYTHING WORKED including lovely, modern bathrooms with excellent showers. It has a good sized garden for games and a lovely, heated pool. This is without doubt the easiest and quickest villa we have ever rented (in 20 years) and the communications with Mike were simple, straightforward and FAST. It made booking a pleasure and instructions ,directions etc. were precise and accurate. If we needed anything we contacted Tony and Tina ( The managers) and they were really helpful. The nearby village of Lizant is really scenic with friendly people and a chocolate box mill and a clear, gently flowing river. It also has a great Boulangerie but unfortunately the Fish and Chip shop has now closed! There are plenty of places to visit within a fairly easy driving distance such as La Rochelle Aquarium and Crocodile Planet as well as small picturesque villages. In short we would DEFINITELY RECCOMMEND La Grange to couples or families for a lovely stress free holiday with a MINIMUM of BOOKING HASSLE. ----Alan & Val.

Perfect family holiday home

This is the second time I've stayed at this property and it won't be the last. The bedrooms are comfortable, well equipped kitchen, lots of DVD' storage watch and the pool and garden are great. Even has the all important wifi ! The owner is a pleasure I deal with and responds to any queries promptly. Location is great for days out but house is also nice and private.
