This is the downstairs house which is completely independent with separate access. It comprises one bedroom, a living area with dining area and kitchen and a wc shower room.

The neighborhood is quiet and offers peace and tranquility.

A car is essential as the house is located at the top of a hill with no public transport nearby.

A little slice of heaven away from the crowds. The villa has everything you need and the hosts are very generous with household items meaning we didn’t have to buy any additional extras. The garden is so well kept and is beautiful. There were many days we had the pool to ourselves and it really was peaceful. The sunsets from the roof top are spectacular and makes for great photos. George, his wife and Nana are lovely people and very welcoming. George was able to give us lots of tips on where to eat and visit. Had a couple of evenings chatting away to George which was lovely to hear local history and sharing different cultural information.Beautiful place

We had 10 fantastic days , the apartment was perfect, everything you need. George and nanna had thought of everything. Pool was beautiful, very clean and we mostly had it to ourselves. Very quiet location with easy to reach amenities and restaurants . Would highly recommend.

A house full of warmth

We stayed with Nana and George for 10 days. The two are very welcoming hosts who made our stay in their wonderful house an unforgettable experience. The apartment, lovingly furnished, personal, and comfortable, is equipped with everything and more, and invites you to feel at home. The enchantingly landscaped garden, where we enjoyed our meals, is truly special, and the fantastic pool also deserves a special mention. The crowning glory for us was the roof terrace, where we could enjoy a special sunset every evening. We arrived as guests and left as friends. Thank you also for the lovely gifts. Nana and George

Our week in Plaka 1-8 October 2024

This was our first week of 4 in Crete and what a start! All our places we stay have a lot to live up to! George and Nana were the perfect hosts and the accommodation was just as we hoped for and wanted. We we out and about everyday enjoying the surrounding area, travelling as far as the south coast and enjoying many walks and beaches. Lots of places to eat out but the apartment kitchen was so well equipped that it was a pleasure to eat in too! Thanks for the homemade raki, the gift and a bottle of bubbly for my 60th birthday next week! A wonderful stay

Cretan delight

What a fantastic stay. George and Nana our hosts were superb. Outside space is just heavenly in George’s award winning garden. Lovely pool with plenty of outside seating. The accommodation was absolutely spotless and unbelievably well equipped. We would definitely recommend.

Wonderful host and location

Although we had bad luck with a broken arm at the start of our holiday, George and Nana were the most exceptionally kind and thoughtful hosts. We cannot praise them highly enough, and they really made our stay memorable for good things, and helped us enjoy the rest of our stay in their lovely apartment and garden.

Beautifully located and thoughtfully equipped villa. Lovely garden and superb pool.

As one who has two villa holidays a year this was far and away the best ever. Our hosts, George and Nana were so helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We left feeling like members of the family having received so many restaurant tips from George's encyclopedic knowledge of the Cretan gastronomic scene.The villa was ideally situated to explore the wonderful scenery of Western Crete. This may well be the villa that breaks our holiday rule of not going back to the same place!

Best holiday in years!

We have just arrived home after enjoying one of our best holidays ever! George and Nana were perfect hosts and their lovely home was a perfect choice. The villa is well equipped with just about everything you could need and more. The Plaka, just a 15 minute walk down the hill (25 minutes coming back up!) and has some very good restaurants and Tavernas serving excellent food (good vegetarian options too), all were very friendly and value for money. Further down the hill is the lovely coastal town of Almyrida. This was a real plus for us as it is busy enough to have everything you could want whilst staying quite traditional. Plenty of choices to eat or drink, all good value and either traditional Greek or more simple fayre. Many of the restaurants are right on the beach itself, a wonderful place to eat around early evening. The beach offers the chance for quiet sunbathing or something a little more lively and the gently shelving sands provide a great place to swim. Some water sports (not noisy motorised!) and because of the way way the bay is shaped, we saw plenty of people enjoying paddle boarding and surfing on one side of the bay while others swam in the calmer opposite side. The weather was perfect too while we were there, so all in all we were so pleased we chose the area and George and Nana's villa, highly recommended.

Lovely idyllic, restful, spacious holiday home

Oh, wow, such a beautiful, idyllic, spacious holiday home. Love at first sight! It is located on a hill, with fantastic views to the mountains and surrounding areas Plenty of little thoughtful extras when we arrived, which was a nice surprise and very useful. George and Nana are such lovely people who own the property, they are so helpful, and knowledgeable about the area, restaurants, sandy beaches etc. They live in the upper part of the house, so are usually around if you need anything. George is always up for a chat, if you need one, like me! The pool is exceptional, very clean and well maintained. It is set in the lovely gardens which are very picturesque and a pleasure to relax in. A small supermarket which has everything you need is only a couple of minutes away. The restaurants in Plaka, a three minute drive away, are excellent, There is know need to go any further. Harokopos was very friendly, reasonably priced and excellent food. It is only five minutes to the next village, Almyrida, where there are several restaurants on the waters edge. We had a sharing platter of fish at Thalami, a large portion, cooked very well, and good service. We had a fantastic holiday, one of the best and can't praise it enough!

A delightful, comfortable, clean apartment

We had a wonderful week here in the bottom half of George and Nana's house. We arrived to find a very warm welcome, an extremely well cared for and equipped apartment, with all sorts of litttle "extras" which make you feel at home immediately, and wanting for nothing. George and Nana are excellent hosts - always friendly, available if needed, but also very discreet. We loved sitting out in the gorgeous peaceful garden. We swam in the immaculate pool, which was still warm enough to enjoy, and we had it to ourselves as the owners of the other 2 houses which share it were away (as we understand they are a lot). We have been to Crete quite a few times before, and love walking in the Apokoronas area (we recommend 2 books of walks in the area by Geoff Needle). Plaka was a superb centre for the area, with good local shops and tavernas, yet very quiet and "away from the madding crowds". Can't wait to return! Linda and John, Chester UK

Struck gold

This was our first visit to Crete and we could not have chosen a better location. We felt we had struck gold with this fantastic villa. We were slightly apprenhensive going to a new and unknown destination but our concerns were totally unfounded. The villa is located at the top of a very steep hill in a fantastic location with stunning views of both mountains and Souda bay. The villa has every thing you need for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. This is much, much more than a typical holiday rental, more like home from home. The property is a totally self contained ground floor apartment with every amenity you could require. The owners, George and his wife Nana, live on the upper floor and as such are available to offer advice and guidance about the area and Crete in general. George, who is rightly proud of his award winning garden, is usually available for a friendly and interesting talk, always attentive but never intrusive. Although only 2 kilometers from the centre of the local village of Plaka a car is essential unless you have the ability of a mountain goat. The village offers what we were delighted to discover is typical Creten hospitability. The tavernas offering traditional greek food of excellent quality at a reasonable cost. The nearby resorts of Almyrida and Kalyves both offer excellent beaches with safe bathing. The beach fronted tavernas providing excellent food and hospitatilty. An added bonus, free sun beds and parasols for customers. If you are looking for a ralaxing, peaceful holiday in a superb property, this is the place to choose. A word of caution, if this is your first visit to Crete, take great care when driving. The roads leave a lot to be desired and the standard of driving is at times frightening.

A perfect peaceful tranquil holiday hideaway

Helen and I arrived in Crete in untypical Greek weather....we were miserable because of it. But when we arrived at the apartment and were shown around by the owners George and Nana our grey mood changed along with the weather. The apartment was spotlessly clean with every facility we required available. The pool was beautifully clean and water temp varied between 27 and 30c. George is jusitifiably proud of his garden and it was a pleasure to be allowed to enjoy it with him. If you are looking for a peaceful private retreat for two in the sun look no further. We loved it....and intend to return later this year!

Beautiful, quiet location with lovely views

We had a lovely time at this villa. Villa was spacious with lovely pool and outside seating area. Great location for the village and restaurants within walking distance. Beach a short drive away and a lovely pretty area. Really enjoyed the peace and tranquilty of the villa, weather was great too. Had a lovely holiday and we would return.
