Getting here
The final 200 yards down to Bratton Mill is a private, unmade farm track — stone and earth, uneven and potholed, dropping steeply into the valley. An ordinary car manages fine year-round if driven slowly; it is not suitable for low-slung or sports cars, and the track can damage bumpers, rims and exhausts if taken too fast. There is a drainage ditch to cross slowly and square-on, and Mill Lane itself is single-track with passing places, so expect to reverse for oncoming traffic. In snow or ice the track can be difficult or impassable. After prolonged heavy rain the stream can cross the lane — if the weather has been severe, please ring us before you travel. The turning is easy to miss: look for the Bratton Mill Farm sign, not "Drive", and please follow the directions we send rather than a sat nav alone.
