A Top the Carriage House is just a short 10 minute drive east of Durango. It's an up scale vacation rental with a 2nd story covered pergola that faces the beautiful La Plata Mountains with panoramic views of the surrounding area. Sit on the deck enjoy looking at the mountains, BBQ and eat outside in the cool evening air, you can relax and enjoy the amazing views. Come inside high speed internet is available for streaming Netflix, Hulu and Amazon video. King size bed in the master bedroom and queen bed up in the loft, along with the quality appliances in kitchen, there is a washer and dryer provided. Quite air conditioning will keep you cool on rare hot summer days and pellet stove helps heat when weather turns cold.

Excellent stay. Extremely well appointed, especially in kitchen supplies. Host provided chocolates and homemade nut bread to welcome us. Host was responsive to questions. This was our favorite Colorado VRBO yet. Great views of sunset from porch.

Cute cabin

Beautiful cozy cabin, great views. The hosts went the extra mile to provide snacks and cute holiday decor. The loft was a bit exciting and had a pretty short ceiling for an adult in his 40's, but we are an adventurous crew so it worked fine. Would stay again!

Great Home Base

We visited Durango to do some mountain hiking and selected this property as home base. It served our needs perfectly; close to a lot of mountain hikes and an easy 10 mile drive to downtown. The house is very well equipped with top of the line appliances and a nicely stocked pantry. Our hostess Holly was really friendly and informative about the area. She left fresh baked bread, candies, nuts and bottled waters to get our stay off to a great start! I highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

Lovely Getaway

This property and its owners are top notch. The description of the property was 100% spot on. Fully equipped with everything we needed. The appliances were awesome. Couldn't have asked for anything else.

Perfect Cozy House for a Winter Holiday!

This was our 2nd stay at the Carriage House - our first being in 2016 for our first Christmas in Colorado. The house is still perfect! Cozy, well-appointed kitchen, great location and a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the holiday. Steve and Holly are attentive hosts and even had some holiday cookies and delicious muffins waiting for us. We intend to return and have another wonderful holiday here!

Great property, quiet nights, beautiful views

This is the perfect property to get away from everything. It is a short drive to town and you are close to a lot of touristy spots. Most of the food joints were great and there are breweries everywhere if that is your thing. The mountain views and aspen colors did not disappoint and we met a lot of friendly locals and out-of-towners like ourselves. Loved the place! We will stay here again if we can.

Carriage house is top notch

The carriage house was so accommodating. From walking in to fresh muffins on the bar to all the extras available that you don’t have to bring. (Stocked with toiletries, paper products, and extras in the pantry to get you started). The house is nicer than the pictures to me. Comfy beds, Great views, and a nice balcony to start your morning. It’s about a 15 minute drive to downtown but its a nice drive and we saw a lot of deer along the way. The house is located right beside the owners house and there are a few other homes in the area but the views and area are still really nice and we enjoyed the location. During the summer stay the AC was a great perk as well. The kids enjoyed the loft area and the board games that were available. Communication was great from Steve and Holly. Highly recommend!

Memorial Day Weekend Getaway 2022

We loved the Carriage House! Property was nicely decorated and felt like home away from home. My 7 year old daughter loved the loft sleeping area. Great views from the deck. We would definitely stay here again for future trips to the Durango area.

Great Place, Great Hosts, Great Experience

Steve and Holly were very friendly and accommodating. The place is the perfect size for 3-4 people and the whole place is well thought out and equipped for any situation!

Beautiful Home.

Very much enjoyed our stay here. Location was great although we would have enjoyed a more "woodsy" experience. The hosts were simply outstanding. The deck was awesome, of which we spent a lot of time - grilled, wine, watching the sunset. Only annoyance, which others have mentioned, was the odor of the water - very strong! It is not unsafe but just a bit overwhelming. Had everything needed, especially in the kitchen. Very pleased with this home.

Away from town, but close enough to get there when you wanted.

Everything was terrific here. The house were excellent, the home was very well kept, all appliances were superb, and the views are great. The only downside I can note is that it is pretty close to a two-lane paved county road that gets a decent amount of traffic. Thus there is some road noise. However it is not so frequent that is annoying.

Great Deck and comfy!

Great location, only a few minutes down the road from Durango, but seemed like a world away with the views, sunset, hummingbirds, and seeing the stars on the deck. I had to work some during my trip and was a great setup working from a desk inside or working outside on the deck. Everything we could possibly need was provided, great hosts!

Wonderful property!

Wonderful country feel.

We had 2 adults and 2 teens staying here. There was plenty of space for all of us. After the High adventure days in Durango, 15 minutes down the road, this was a perfect place out in the country to relax. The kitchen had everything we needed. Will stay here again when we return to the area!

This property was very clean, well organized, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was close enough to town but also had a very rural vibe. The views and sunsets were fantastic! I would definelty stay there again!

Loved our stay at the Carriage House with view of the mountains

The view of the mountains from the deck was the best part of our stay. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The house was clean and comfortable. Feeling of being away from town but close enough to be able to run get essentials. We cooked most meals at the house and it was well equipped with everything I needed. The house was the perfect size for my husband and me.

Peaceful Getaway

Holly and Stephen are wonderful hosts and make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. This is our 2nd time staying here and we will definitely come back. We actually tried renting Gina’s Place (a different local VRBO) and that was a nightmare (Gina cancelled our reservation the day before we were supposed to arrive leaving us scrambling). Holly and Stephen are super accommodating and even have homemade muffins ready when we arrived. They leave the lights of so you can easily find the cabin (we arrived late at night). The views are amazing and its so peaceful to sit out on the porch at night. The cabin is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but only a short easy drive there. If you’re visiting for a family getaway or visiting your child at the Fort, this is the place to stay.
