Roxbury & Washington are the best country rural retreats within 1.5 hours of NYC - the best restaurants, shopping, land preserves, Lake Waramaug State Park & Beach, and nearby Mohawk Mountain Skiing. Perfect 6BR 3.5 Bath 4 Fire-Place home with heated pool and child's play gym on a scenic country dirt road that leads into a land preserve along the Shepaug River - perfect for walking, jogging, biking. The most desirable rural historic location within 2 hours of NYC - Roxbury and Washington CT. Home to actors, writers, artists and the owners of luxury estate vacation homes. Many world class restaurants, inns and spas. Skiing, Lake Waramaug Beaches, BBQ, farm stands and fairs, antiquing, and numerous recreational activities.

Roxbury & Washington are located in historic, rural Litchfield County, within a scenic 2-hour drive from NYC and is exceptional for its excellent restaurants, spas, antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, farms, historic homes, gardens, vineyards, distilleries, and orchards. The Gilmore Girls creator modeled Stars Hollow, the perfect Connecticut town, after Washington and the Independence Inn after the Mayflower Inn. It is the current or former home to many artists, writers, actors and Wall Street executives – referred to as "more Vermont, than Vermont" and "the un-Hamptons". Nature preserves, Lake Waramaug, and the Shepaug River offer extensive hiking, biking, and water activities. All of my homes in Washington and Roxbury (PoshPadsCT) are beautifully landscaped with flowering shrubs, flagstone terraces with gas bbq. And heated pools. They are furnisged with Frette pressed cotton sheets, plush towels and bathrobes, down featherbeds, comforters and pillows. Optional maid and catering and massage services are available. All homes have Central heat and AC, WiFi, flat screen televisions with dvds, cable and movie channels, and central alarms.

The kids had a great time in the pool and on the zip line. The house worked well for a big group of various ages.

Amazing place!

What an awesome & warm-feeling home! The decor was gorgeous and every detail was well thought out, right down to the individual robes on each bed. Great place! We’re already thinking about coming back in the summer just to see how pretty it is then.

Thank you for staying and being wonderful guests. Roxbury and Washington are wonderful year round - the summer is high season with many visitors enjoying Lake Waramaug, the great restaurants, and farm fresh produce. The fall is foliage and apple picking. Winter offers cozy fires and several local ski options. All within 2 hours of NYC. Looking forward to your return hopefully to any of my local vacation rental homes. Best, Steve

Beautiful country getaway

This house was perfect for our needs. We loved the layout with the main floor dedicated to common spaces and the property was gorgeous. Perfect for our group of friends and an infant. The fireplace and the pool area were highlights. Thanks for a great stay!

Wonderful country retreat!

Wonderful house and location. Stayed here recently for a family fall get-away in the country. Fully equipped for entertaining and relaxing. Steve was most helpful and a pleasure to work with in planning stay. Look forward to another visit in the future!

This home is spectacular in location, quality, yard and design! Located on a scenic dirt road but only a few minutes from Washington's activities and restaurants. Wonderful yard, play outdoor set and heated pool.
It is a pristine 6-bedroom private antique reproduction home on a scenic dirt road ideal for walking, jogging and biking along the Shepaug River. Magnificent design with antiques, art and 4 fireplaces, over-sized living room, dining room for 12, and chef's kitchen. Heated pool surrounded by endless summer hydrangea and 3 acres of lawns with a stream. The perfect location minutes from the centers of Roxbury and Washington.
