Beautiful Skye Crofter's Cottage sleeps six close to mountains, sea and beach

Come and relax in a traditional detached crofter's cottage in the picturesque village of Torrin on the Isle of Skye. A fabulous base from which you can easily enjoy all the wonders of Skye.

Torrin is a beautiful village on the shores of Loch Slapin, close to a gorgeous secluded beach and nestled between the Red Cuillin hills and the mighty Bla Bhienn (pronounced Blaven, it means blue mountain). Bla Bhienn is our favourite mountain and arguably the finest Munro in Scotland!
Perfect for exploring, relaxing, walking, climbing, cycling, photographers and geologists!

The cottages been in our family for over 150 years. In 2017 we've completed a full upgrade of the whole cottage. It's wonderfully homely and comfortable and very very peaceful.

Cosy L-shaped living room with log/coal burning stove
TV, DVD player, books, maps and games.
Very well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Dining room seats six.

Fabulous sun porch overlooking the garden, complete with chaise longue - a great place to relax after a day's exploring!

As a traditional cottage, the stairs are rather steep and narrow so care should be taken at all times.

Large cultivated mature garden with further grounds surrounding the house.

Our cottage is situated up a track off the main road. There's free parking with room for two cars in the drive on our property.

The cottage is in the village of Torrin, 7 miles from Broadford which is a lovely town with a beautiful bay and views to the mainland. It has a good variety of shops, including an artisan bakery, craft shops and Skye candles plus a really excellent Co-Op supermarket, 24 hour garage and chemist. There is a doctor, hospital, dentist, church also. There are restaurants, cafes, fish and chip shop and hotel bars. And there are two ATM cash machines, a Post Office and a mobile bank.

Cozy Cottage

Our family stayed 3 nights and spent 2 days exploring Isle of Skye. The location was cozy and close enough to Broadford for groceries, coffee and gas. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach to look for shells and play in the cold surf.

Very Homey Cottage with Beautiful Garden

The cottage is very welcoming with plenty of space for 4 people. Nice views and walks around when the sun is out. Cozy and comfortable when the weather is not so nice. Very enjoyable stay!

An absolute cracker of a cottage, bag full of character and spot on location wise for exploring the south part of Skye including the amazing Cuillin Mountains.Hidden away just off the main road through Torrin, it sits in beautiful garden surroundings alongside a clutch of other similar cottages. Facilities were first class, clean and tidy with plenty of space to relax should the notorious Skye weather hit!Communication from the owner was clear and friendly with a detailed and helpful 'things to do in Skye's info sheet issued prior to our arrival. Couldn't have asked for anything more in preparation.If exploring, hiking and outdoor adventures is your thing then Skye has all of this in bucket loads, and this cottage is perfect as a place to stay for your next trip to this beautiful isle.

Perfect for enjoying and exploring the Isle of Skye

This house feels like home! It is comfortable and cozy and we had a great time there. There are great walks right around the house, and some of the most spectacular places are only a (fairly) short drive away (Elgol!). This is my favourite holiday cottage ever - it was everything I love about Britain!

Skye weekend stay

Very nice property in a lovely location. Plenty of room and a well equipped property but the best point for us was the key safe as it allowed a flexible check in process. Shame that there was no internet or phone signal at the cottage but we were made aware of problems with the broadband before our stay.

Perfect!

This was a quiet home, tucked away in a beautiful location on Skye. The home was lovely, filled with artwork that I especially enjoyed. The gardens surrounding the home were beautiful and there were fresh flowers placed throughout the interior. That added a special touch to this lovely home. The owners were attentive to our needs and made sure that we were taken care of. We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely book this property again.

Good place to call home

It is a nice quiet country home, in the midst of sheep, cattle, and beautiful landscapes and people. The house was nice and cozy, the roads were a bit scarry if your not use to one lane with a pull over area every so often.. things to do are all around., it just takes a bit of time weaving around the mountains. I would highly recommend this listing.

Gem off the beaten trail

Beautiful scottish farm house feel with amazing scenery. The boys hiked the hill behind the property and got amazing pictures of the surrounding area. Well set up with thoughtful supplies. Was chilly so we enjoyed the availability of the hot water bottles to put in the beds at night. So nice to have a proper scottish experience away from the tourist traffic.

We spent a wonderful week at the Isle of Skye with our adult sons. The house is clean, spacious and very well equipped. Overall a very good experience. The location is nice and quiet, but be aware that there's no mobile phone connection and also Wifi can be a bit unstable. This was problematic when there was a water outage in all the village for about 12 hours where we had a hard time communicating with the local person in charge. Everything was resolved in the end, but it was a bit stressful.

A lovely, comfortable cottage, surrounded by amazing scenery

This gorgeous cottage is a good size for a family and well equipped. It's also really comfortable and cosy. The living room is a lovely space to relax in the evenings after exploring the island. The kitchen has everything you need and the bedrooms are spacious and include plenty of storage space. The location is fantastic for a range of local places of interest and a good base for exploring more widely on Skye. We loved the marble pools and Amy's cafe and enjoyed evening walks to the beach at least as much as our trips further afield. Our only regret is that we didn't have enough time to do everything we would have wanted to!

Great Cottage

We really enjoyed our holiday in this fabulous cosy and tranquil cottage .It was a great base for our many mountain and coastal walks on Skye . Lovely to come back to after a long day exploring in all weathers! As it was hard to book nearby restaurants in Broadford (really busy) we appreciated the well equipped kitchen. Definitely recommend. Escape from work!

Really enjoyable break in Torrin which is a quiet hamlet 7 miles along a single track road between Broadford and Elgol. The house is halfway along a steep road opposite the mighty Blà Bheinn and Loch Slapin. The mobile phone reception and WiFi signal are not great but this was an attraction for us. The house has everything you need and the weather was kind so we had plenty of outdoor activities to occupy our teenagers. There is a lovely cafe nearby and you can get any shopping and fuel in Broadford. The petrol station is cheaper in Broadford than on the mainland.

Skye cottage

Old cottage renovated to high standard. Comfortable and cossy and very well appointed. Nice small garden. The cottage is within walking distance to a small beach and Loch Slapin and beautiful mountains. 7 miles from shops (Broadford) but close to tea shop. Communication with owner was easy and pre-stay package was very informative.

Fantastic cottage in a spectacular location

This cottage is wonderful - cosy, comfortable, tastefully & cheerfully decorated and very well equipped. The beds are comfy & there's lots of lovely little thoughtful touches to make the stay extra special. The location is just spectacular - amazing views of mountains & lochs, close to a beach & waterfalls and loads of walks nearby. Perfect.

I've been coming to Torrin since I was a wee boy as this was my aunt's house. As adults we've come to Torrin on holiday every year for the past 35 years and we feel it is our spiritual home.
