Gite at vineyard, with private pool for Gite

In the sunny south of France you will find our cozy authentic holiday home and our gite in the middle of vineyards. The Minervois region located between the mountain ranges of the Corbières and the Montagne Noire - is a lovely, gently sloping wine region. At a distance of about forty kilometers you can go to the beach for a day and then relax for days in our oasis of peace.

The house and its location

The walls of our house are about half a meter thick and the relatively small windows keep the heat out. The house is part of a former hamlet, built around a small château.

The vegetation is very old, tall plane trees and poplars with the sound of the wind sometimes reminiscent of more northern regions.

The house is located at the end of a cobblestone path that leads to the vineyards. It is a quiet place, not too lonely on the edge of a farming community. Puichéric is ± 2 km away where you can walk or cycle along the Canal du Midi in the morning to get delicious croissants and where everything is for sale.
Layout and design of the house and garden
The house is an elongated building of which the gite is a separate free part. The gite is at the front of the house and faces south. It includes two terraces, one covered, actually an 'outside dining room' and a second terrace by the pool for sunbathing. When you enter through a private front door you suddenly find yourself in a surprisingly large high room, type 'loft'. White plastered walls, concrete poured floors and an interior of the 'French campaign'. The kitchen area is attractive and basic and the made-up bed has a mosquito net so that you can sleep comfortably with the windows open. A cot can be added in a second room. The adjoining small private shower room has gray tadelakt walls with a spacious shower, sink and toilet.
The swimming pool is salt-based and located in the private back garden. Our gite has a view of the swimming pool and also a separate shaded terrace with patio furniture and direct access to the swimming pool. The sun terrace is located around the swimming pool and is equipped with sun beds and chairs. The swimming pool is child friendly. After swimming you can immediately start a wonderful walk or bike ride through the vineyard and along the Canal du Midi, and you immediately walk past the farmer for fresh fruits, vegetables and a bottle of wine.

There is also a cupboard full of reading and comic books and board games. The entire domain has WIFI both inside the gite and outside. This gite is located on the ground floor and is suitable for 2 to 4 people. The hostess and host have their holiday home adjoining, their 'outside' is at the back of the house: the two houses are well separated in terms of privacy.
For short and good, guests can enjoy a special place that deserves the appropriate designation: "as a god in France".
What we enjoy is the vastness of the landscape, the undulating vineyards, which look different in every season: young green in spring, and deep brown / red in autumn.
Atmospheric people like us, we go into the villages on frequent market days: on terraces we drink the well-known café au lait or later in the day, a good glass of Minvervois. Restaurants we like - especially at lunchtime - find guests on a list in the house and of course we can be extensively "questioned".
The Canal du Midi was the deciding factor for us to settle in this area. Less than ten minutes walk from our house you can find the coolness under the plane trees with a picnic basket and a stretcher under your arm. Gently, boats simmer past. At the lock, old "Puichéricers" sit on benches - like old-fashioned pictures - looking for each other and the shadow. At the harbors of Trèbes and nearby Homps it is a pleasant bustle and you can rent boats.

The historically impressive Kataren land was then littered with castles, caves (including Cabrespine) to be visited and the town of Minerve, to which the region is called, rightfully attracts many visitors. The coast is very varied in nature and the road to Narbonne-plage, with its pine trees, vineyards and sea views, evokes the south in optima forma. Lac de Bages is a must.
On the hottest days you see a lot of cars driving towards Montagne Noire in the Minervois: forests and reservoirs offer the then sought-after cooling. About 6 km from our house there is a small inner lake: "Le Lac de Jouarres". Surfers can manage well on a small scale: it is a real family beach with security, shade and a restaurant ... On the Aude you can canoe (rental / departure from Puicheric) and rafting (near Limoux). Carcassonne, widely known as a monumental walled city, also has a golf course.
