Experience living up in the trees with all the comforts you could want - hot water, air conditioning, high speed internet, flat-screen TV, firm orthopedic mattresses, hammocks, lazy boy recliner & lounge chairs. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the views and breezes or stretch and practice yoga on the spacious tree house lookout deck and enjoy the tropical surroundings. Casa Aloha is only a short 5 minute walk to the Pavones point surf break, the river, restaurants, and town center which means the ideal location for a perfect vacation.. It has a fully equipped kitchen with 6 burner stove, oven, microwave, toaster, dishes and utensils, coffee maker, blender, spices and oils. Truly a birders paradise, regularly see scarlet macaws, toucans, magnificent frigates, wood peckers, parrots, egrets, tanagers, and many more species. You will also have a chance to pet one of our rare and exotic jungle "Tabby" cats that live on the property.

Wonderful

We lived 3 weeks in casa aloha and had a really nice stay. Its such a wonderful place. Lot's of birds, iguans and other animals. In the mornings the sound of the birds is really amazing. The kitchen was fun to work in. We cooked every night and didn't miss anything. The waterfilter is very helpful, we didn't have to buy any water. Kelly is an amazing host and a wonderful person. Thank you so much for everything.

We stayed in casa awesome which is aptly named.

Finding the rental was a bit difficult since there's not a specific address. The place is beautiful and comfortable. The locals are all very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier with some.

Beautiful Stay in Pavones

We had so much fun at Casa Aloha! We rode bikes and hiked everyday and explored all of the local restaurants and beaches. Having bikes and surfboards on site was a huge plus! The welcome book has so much great information in it from the hosts and Kelly and James answered all of our questions pre trip and during our stay. The trek out to Pavones is definitely worth it. Casa Aloha is perfectly situated to walk or bike everywhere. We hardly used our car. Can't recommend this place enough!! Thank you again.

Just right!

We really enjoyed our stay! Kelly was very easy to get in touch with and helped us quickly with any questions or concerns. The location is great as well! Especially if you plan to surf, and be within walking distance of pretty much all you should need.

Pavones Surf Trip

Nice Surf retreat! 5 minute walk to the beach, 7-8 minutes walk to restaurants and cool vibe surf town. A pleasure staying here! Not a high end hotel, more of a make yourself home type of feel. Outdoor shower to cool off after walking home from surfing or beach, James and Kelly are very nice and helpful

Great property great hosts

This could not have been a better place to stay. Location was great, just a short walk down a trail to the point break. Every morning having coffee up on the top level made a great start to the day. The host did laundry for us, provided info on places to see and do, and was very friendly. The house is equipped with everything you need for a good time would need to cook. It was clean, smelled good, the air conditioner worked very well, and even had great drinking water provided by the host. When I come back to Costa Rica I will definitely be staying here.

Clean, well equipped with lots of extras, close to everything and superb hosts.

Lovely beach sunsets, surfing, warm ocean to play in waves, superb rooftop deck for morning coffee and watching birds, monkeys, etc. Wonderful stay. Hosts were excellent and provided a phone to easily contact them. Comfortable unit with big windows for bird watching. Wifi was quite reliable and fast for such a remote location. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing Stay

Casa Aloha was the perfect place to stay in Pavones to get some relief from the heat and enjoy some bird watching! The hosts, James and Kelley (and their adorable daughter) were so welcoming and laid back, we loved their energy and their reverence for the raw beauty, wonderful community, and special sunsets that make up Pavones. The kitchen was nice and workable, the apartment was cool and the 3 of us were very comfortable. The birdwatching from inside the apartment and on the spacious top deck was so awesome! We could put fruit out on their feeders and watch for hours. The deck on top was also great for eating dinner and breakfast, it was a nice view of the treetops with a wonderful ocean breeze and hammocks! What more could you want? They had plenty of surfboards and bikes to use and even tubes for the river (which we will have to try next time!). Their food reccomendations were sincere and awesome, we had a wonderful night out at La Pina and ate some authentic Italian pizza! The property was very nice and homey, you could tell the whole place was a labor of love. Our hosts had nice little local goodies for us throughout the trip that really showed a thoughtfulness for their guests and a pride in the community. We don't have a single negative thing to say about this place and we will not stay anywhere else in Pavones when we return (unless we're sleeping on the beach!). Pura Vida!

Good Times

Thanks James. James was a great host. We had access to surfboards and bikes. The roof top deck was great for relaxing in the hammock and playing cards at night. The house has air-conditioning in both rooms and fans. It was nice to be able to get cool in the middle of the day. We felt very secure with our rental car in private parking behind a locked gate although Pavones seems very safe anyway. Casa Aloha is a short walk from the surf, maybe five minutes, and restaurants. It was a great location for enjoying Pavones.

Home away from home

You can stop looking for a place to stay because this is the best and has it all. It is cute, clean, comfortable and safe for starters. The kitchen has a great gas stove, oven, microwave, large refrigerator and well stocked supplies. Owners provide purified water. Beds and bathroom are great. Upper deck is awesome for bird and animal observation. We appreciated the AC for cooling off after outdoor activities and sleeping well. The owners are so kind and are available only if they are needed. You don't need transportation once you arrive because beach, grocery stores and restaurants are easily within walking distance. You won't be disappointed, we are already planning next years return trip.

Casa aloha is everything it appears to be and more. Location is perfect. It is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Comfy bed. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, the bikes and surf boards are Bonus. We enjoyed birdwatching from the roof top patio. James and Kelly checked in to make sure our stay was perfect. And it was. We will definitely be back to Pavones and casa aloha

Amazing home that has everything you need.

You could show up with just your bathing suit and have a great vacation while staying at Casa Aloha. Bikes, boards, outdoor shower, fully stocked kitchen, towels, so many amenities to make the stay great. The surf was fun and close, Birds right off the deck that has three hammocks ! Can’t wait to come back. The owners are super nice. Friendly but provide as much privacy as you want and offer lots of great adventure ideas.

This is Spot!

No need to look any further. Short walk to the point for surf. Private, relaxing, safe, comfortable, clean apartment with all the amenities. Fully stocked kitchen with plenty of herbs, spices, tea, coffee. Drinking water supplied as well! Back up flashlights automatically turned on when power briefly went out. Bikes, surfboards, beach chairs, coolers all included for use. Amazing roof deck with awesome hammocks. Great place to read and nap and enjoy the jungle canopy and all the birds and other critters. James and Kelly were great hosts and always helpful and accommodating. They welcomed me with a surf video playing when I arrived to get me pumped for the waves with plenty more surf dvds and other movies to chose from. Fantastic information booklet with a map they put together to guide you around town to the different restaurants, hikes, massages, yoga, and other great activities. Very helpful! They even provide a local cell phone to reach out to them in case of any immediate needs. Like having your own personal concierge. Really have you covered on all ends! Top notch service. 5 star accommodation, 5 start service! 10 Stars! I will stay here every time I come back! Thanks Guys! Pura Vida!

Perfect in Pavones

We absolutely loved our stay, it turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip. We love to bird watch and so the third floor deck was wonderful. We were in the tree tops and able to see toucans, parrots, iguanas, tanagers, and many others. it was also a great location to hang out during the rain and for eating meals. The hiking recommendations were awesome and we saw great ocean and jungle views and even more birds and wildlife. Pavones was a nice little town. Neither of us are good surfers, but we were never bored. We will be back as there is still so much to see and do. The apartment was comfortable and easy to cook our own meals. The warm shower was a plus after a few days in Corcovado. James and Kelly are fabulous hosts.

Fabulous!

So great to have air conditioning in Pavones. Kelly and James are hospitable and very helpful. The house, up in the trees, is a great spot for viewing birds.

Super-Friendly and Awesome!

I had a great time staying in this rental! James and Kelly were both incredibly nice and friendly, going out of their way to be exceptional hosts -- researching the schedule of buses for the following day, providing me with a spare phone for use during my stay, and inviting me out to dinner with them. The rental was well-furnished and stocked with plenty of convenient goodies for cooking / eating in. It's in a terrific location as well, just a short stroll from the beach. Two thumbs up!

Beautiful,tranquil, private and secure

James and Kelly are gracious hosts, going the extra mile to make sure our stay was special. Farm fresh eggs and a bottle of some vino awaited us. They put in some time to put a Pavones book together, that as another reviewer suggested, you should read through the 1st day of your stay. Casa aloha is cute, well put together and roomy for being a 1 bedroom, the rooftop chill spot was swank! The surfboards and bikes were a bonus. The use of their personal pool was much appreciated and just what the doctor ordered after playing at the playa! They are around but you only see them when they greet you to show you the ins and outs of the place, feels as if you have the property to yourself! Super nice folks and attention to detail rental....I can't recommend this place enough!

Place is Dialed

Great location. Slightly set back from the small town and point, but cruisy 5 minute walk to get in the water. Nice and quiet - aside from the birds. Great third story deck for birding, reading, cards, sunset, etc. Small place but really well laid out. Kitchen has everything we could need - we even took advantage of some of the extras like spices, condiments, the blender, and Tupperware. Was stoked and heavily used the laminated wildlife guides they provided. Even used 2 or 3 of their boards games. James and Kelly were really attentive to our needs, but also left us alone. Definitely recommend! And hope to return!!! -Matt

Perfect place for an affordable surf vacation

Perfect, quaint house only a 5-minute walk from the legendary Pavones surf break. Anywhere you need to go in town you can walk or bike to (using the bikes provided). Also, if no one is staying at the Casa Azul, you'll get to use their pool! The rooftop lookout is an amazing way to relax, especially since you're above most of the trees. Great for yoga, eating meals, or just taking naps in the hammock. The owners are awesome and easily reachable if you need anything at all. Would definitely recommend and will definitely come back if I get the chance!

Beautiful!

This place is excellent. We loved being a short walk from the river and the main surf break. We used the bicycles to get to the stores, restaurants, nearby beaches etc. The little house was a great fit for our family. We especially enjoyed the beautiful pool, great kitchen and the rooftop hammocks. The owners, James and Kelly, are super helpful and very sweet. The information binder has great local contacts for boat trips, Spanish lessons, chocolate maker, etc. The owners were able to answer any of our questions and introduced us to some great people who have children similar ages to ours. Many thanks to James and Kelly for the fabulous stay!

Pleasant stay at Casa Aloha

My wife and I (retirees) spent a couple weeks at Casa Aloha in early February, 2017. James and Kelly were excellent, hospitable hosts. The bonus was that a small swimming pool on the adjacent property (where they live) was a newly-built and very pleasant. It was quite a treat to have access (However, my understanding is that it's not available if they rent out their home to other renters). The accommodations, as seen in the photos, left no surprises. I did walk to the beautiful beach a couple times, but driving to a more private location was better. Great boogie-boarding! (I'm not a surfer). A walk up the nearby river was refreshing. There were a couple restaurants nearby that were very good and with reasonable prices. The ribs place in particular was excellent. It happened to be quiet dry for the period of time before our stay, which took away from the rain-forest experience a bit, but this was no reflection on our very knowledgeable and helpful hosts. Highly recommended!

Hidden Gem! Worth the trip!

Casa Aloha was one of the sweetest places we have encountered in our 4+ years with VRBO. We have rented big houses in locked communities, houses in townships with hired caretakers and stayed in local hotels and hostels throughout Costa Rica. We are always looking for the hybrid that provides what you need as far as safety, comfort and helpfulness with what you want, privacy, a unique and genuine CR experience in an area with spectacular, clean beaches with the convenience of markets and restaurants. Casa Aloha in Pavones was ideal. The house is a little apartment in a separate house on the property of a lovely young English speaking couple who are very knowledable about the area and have thought of everything you could possible need. This includes bikes, surf boards, beach chairs, a bottle of wine and a fully stocked kitchen with coffee, spices, oil and the little things you usually forget like jam and butter. We are not much for TV but saw a huge selection of DVDs to choose from and the internet connection was great! There is a very cool observation deck on the top floor of this property where we hung out, saw beautiful birds, ate our dinners and enjoyed pura vida from the hammocks. The host couple have their own home on the property but you don't feel on top of each other with the jungle trees in between. They offered their pool to us but we were enjoying the beach to much to take them up on this ...this time. We recommend a SUV to travel to Pavones but you could do it in a regular car if you were careful and arrived in day light! (Definitely recommend daylight!!! Think very small bridges with no guard rails). There were actually three well stocked little markets with in walking or easy driving distance from the house and 3-4 great restaurants all in this secluded little area which is so cool about Pavones. You are definitely out there so fill up on gas before leaving the highway. We will definitely return to Pavones and Casa Aloha. Best wishes to our hosts!
