Bay Head - Open Concept Home with Water View

Unfortunately, there are some people who have issues in the World. Susan A. is one of them. She called me the night before her stay saying she was "not happy" that I wasn't supplying linens despite this being clearly indicated in my listing and app. I told her I want people to enjoy themselves so don't worry and had all the beds made up beautifully for her and supplied towels, etc. She showed up early to the home, irately demanding to be let in and stating that her contract started earlier and she had people waiting in the car and that she would bury my ratings if she had any problems. I left with the cleaning crew - immediately. I checked the contract when I got home and she had made the part about the contract up. Why? I would have been happy to help her get into the place. I let her know that I apologized for the confusion but the check-in was correctly planned for. Her response was "I don't have a problem with it, do you?" Upon entering, her daughter said "this is great, such a big home" and was giddy after checking her room. This is a very nice home. Two hours cleaning a grill? Is someone making things up? My carpet was fine and I had no complaints until the renter allowed her dog to defecate all over it. Aside from the theft, this was the issue that prompted her review. Also, after her stay, I was missing several Henckel knives from the block (who leaves a set of Henckel's on the counter for their guests to make it nice? I do). In addition to the knives from the block, I was missing beach chairs that I leave for people to use as they wish. So, when I very politely asked Susan A from Brooklyn if she might have accidentally forgotten to drop some items off after being at the beach and indicated that I couldn't get the dried feces out of the carpet, she made good on her word and tried to wreck my ratings. In short, I bent over backwards for this woman who was being rude and unfair from the moment that I met her. I will do just about anything to make people happy and keep my ratings, but at some point I do have to confront honest issues when they go beyond the pale. This person's behavior is definitely unprecedented in that I was forced to ask her to pay for the damage and the items missing. I have 100% five star ratings across the five major rental sites and would encourage you to view the opposite reviews here and elsewhere - they all speak of ease, spacious home and great cleanliness.
