Bright Barn Retreat....Relax in style with 17 acres of stunning Alpine views

Bright Barn Retreat comprises of a main house of huge proportions; The Barn, and a studio space with a separate entrance called Studio Cecile...all situated high on a hill of 17 private acres of land with kangaroos and commanding Alpine views.

When you rent the house (The Barn) and the studio (Studio Cecile)....you will have the property to yourself. It is a real country experience for our guests with the convenience of the township just a 10 minute walk to the front gate where the famous biking Rail Trail passes by.

Guests say that the backdrop of the Victorian State Forest and the north facing views of the Alpine Valley make this house and property truly stunning. to stay at.

The house is suitable for 8 guests in 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. The studio is suitable for 2 guests in 1 bedroom with one bathroom and a private, separate entrance.

Combined we welcome a maximum of 10 adult guests and 2 child guests to Bright Barn Retreat. Two children may be accommodated on either a single bed in the Bedroom 2, or on a trundle bed in Bedroom One, or a trundle in the living room alcove upstairs in main house.

Previously we also offered the guest house for rental, for 2 guests, please note… currently the guest house is currently NOT available for rental.

Bedroom One: upstairs main house
1 King bedroom with spa ensuite located upstairs, with balcony and walk in robe, ensuite with spa bath. Stunning alpine views to the north and south of the property.

Bedroom Two: upstairs main house
1 Queen bedroom with balcony and walk in robe, sharing twin sink bathroom nearby with shower over the bath. Stunning alpine views to the north and south of the property. (This bedroom can have a King single, made up upon request).

Bedroom Three: upstairs main house, sharing twin sink bathroom next door with shower over bath. Stunning north views of the township and property.

Bedroom Four: a ground floor bedroom
1 King bedroom or 2 singles upon request. The ground floor bedroom is located close to the downstairs bathroom, which also houses a laundry behind sliding doors. Views to the south of the property.

Bedroom 5: Studio Cecile, ground floor, separate entrance
1 King bedroom with its own bathroom and laundry facilities. Beautiful north views of the property with kangaroos.

The studio, called Studio Cecile, is located in an adjacent building with a separate private entrance.

We are a Retreat; isolated, secluded and private in every way.....close the beautiful handmade gates and leave the rest of the world behind....

Many of the elements of this house have been handmade with recycled timbers. The high ceilings and grand views make the staying experience in this house truly memorable.

The house is very light, clean and full of positive energy.

Bright Barn Retreat is a healthy environment to inspire guests....its north facing position allows for maximum light even on the darkest day. It offers guests plenty of firewood sourced from fallen trees on the property to fuel the wood burning fireplace ( a second oven in the main kitchen), a fantastic veggie and herb garden by the kitchen's back door to pick from, fresh eggs from our new chickens, and the opportunity to drink and bath in the rain water we collect and filter.

As mentioned, we are currently priced for 10 adult guests, with space for 2 additional child guests by prior arrangement.

Please enquire for 5-7 night stays only during peak times, Christmas, NY's Eve and Easter.

High standards of cleaning have always been a priority at Bright Barn Retreat, our cleaning team is professional and our reviews are excellent. We have recently upgraded our cleaning and we are booking groups with larger gaps in between guest stays. We have also removed unnecessary soft furnishings and unsealed goods.

The main house has its own laundry with Miele appliances.

We find our 2 Miele dishwashers in the main house kitchen are very useful when it comes to entertaining in large groups.

The Barn has a large BBQ on the terrace. The BBQ chef is King, as he cooks he enjoys the north facing mountain views!.

There is a lot of space in the parking bays for guest cars. We ask all guests to keep the terrace entrance clear. There is no garaged car parking available for guests.

We ask that guests do not park or drive on the grass and respect our family of 50 kangaroos.

In regards to heating, we have one combustion fireplace in the main house. Please read our fire safe information…never put burning embers in the rubbish bin or vacuum them up. Steel buckets and steel tools are provided for your safety.

WINTER GUESTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO RUN THE FIREPLACE TO HEAT DOWNSTAIRS AREA of the main house . We have plenty of firewood to add to your country heating experience from trees that have fallen on the property.

Running the fireplace in the kitchen creates a very cosy, country atmosphere.

The wood burning fireplace in the kitchen also doubles as a second oven.

We have slab heating downstairs in the main house to keep the chill off the floor only. The house is very well insulated and the double glazed windows downstairs work very well.

The bedrooms upstairs have an air conditioning/heating unit in the alcove and also individual heaters and fans in the bedrooms.

The downstairs living area is not air-conditioned, but normally cools nicely during the evenings with the cool katabatic airflow by opening up the many screened floor to ceiling windows.

We have a large ceiling fan over the dining table to create air-flow.

During the heat of summer or spring we advise guests to leave the screened doors open downstairs overnight to allow a beautiful flow of cool night air (we border the national forest) into the house and then to close the doors in the morning to allow the downstairs area to remain cool. We have double glazed windows downstairs and have a 6 star rating insulation.

We do have lots of lovely spaces to have group gatherings, meals, conversations and quiet contemplation surrounded by nature and stunning views.

Feel inspired by the mountainous alpine views from every window, or feel cosy when viewing the gully views from the kitchen and dining room bordering acres of forest.

Bright Barn Retreat is the property for all seasons; use it as your base for skiing in the winter, enjoying the cool Ovens river in the summer, experiencing amazing autumn views and one of the many festivals Bright has to offer, for example the beautiful gardens of the Spring Festival.

Feel nature seeping through every window as you enjoy fresh country air, quiet natural views and lots of space, 17 private acres to roam about.

Wake up to the sounds of our friend the kookaburra or glance out your window at dusk and view the kangaroos milling around your front window feeding on native grass. We have approximately 50 resident kangaroos, they can be very peaceful to watch, except sometimes in Spring when they become boxing kangaroos as the males bid to lead the group. They also like to move at certain times of the day, usually sunrise and dusk.

Our property allows for a unique Australian experience, especially for children.

In Autumn and Winter, Bright Barn Retreat has one wonderful wood burning fireplace to enjoy. Unfortunately our outdoor fireplace is no longer in service as previous guests made a bonfire out of it.

In Summer and Spring you may wish to open the extensive screened doors and windows of our big windows and balconies to let the best of alpine fresh air flow through. The smells of the cool mountain air at night will sooth the senses. This property is filled with native Australian flora and fauna.

Bright Barn Retreat is the perfect country hideaway for large families or groups wishing to connect with nature and to relax.

We like to have everything beautifully set up so that you will just walk in with ease. We have a nearby property manager if required. You will have our phone numbers if you have questions during your stay.

When you rent the house you rent the whole property. Occasionally we will have staff and trades people who will need to be on the property to do work that will not interfere with your stay.

WE WILL NOT TOLERATE HOSTING PARTIES TO OUTSIDE GUESTS, UNPAID FOR, UNDECLARED STAYING GUESTS SLEEPING ON COUCHES OR FLOOR MATTRESSES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED HEAVILY.

WE WILL NOT TOLERATE DRIVING VEHICLES ACROSS OUR LAWNS OR CHASING KANGAROOS.

MOTORBIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED AT BRIGHT BARN RETREAT.
