Cozy Lake Getaway

Cozy cabin on Nantahala Lake with great view. We loved the hot tub, pool table, ping pong and especially the outdoor fireplace with tons of firewood. Lex, the owner, was so kind and helpful, great communication made check-in a breeze. We had a short walk to the lake and marina for boat rental. We had to leave a day early due to family member in hospital and Lex generously offered to compensate us for our full time. You will love your stay at Lex’s cabin, he will make sure of it.

Romantic Getaway

My husband and I just spent the best week here for our honeymoon! I could not have asked for anything better! This was everything we were looking for and more. We will definitely be coming back, and so should everyone!!!!

Relaxing Weekend Get-Away

The cabin was great! We throughly enjoyed it! The cabin was clean and had all the comforts of home. It is in a beautiful area, quiet and very relaxing. We lost all track of time. The weather was fantastic and we were able to watch the 4th of July fireworks on the lake from the front porch. We enjoyed a leisurely paddle around the lake and white water rafting. And we enjoyed the hot tub.

Excellent Cabin Excellent Views and Unbeatable Value!!!

Our family of 4 found this cabin charming and Alex is the nicest owner in the entire universe! If you are on the fence about booking this cabin, don't, it is breathtaking. Flawlessly executed down to the last detail. Serious fun was had by all! Thanks for everything Alex and I will contact you when we are ready to book our next trip out! The lake and hot tub are awesome!!!

My fiance and I spent one...

My fiance and I spent one week in heaven at this beautiful cabin the third week in May last year. I cannot even begin to describe how beautiful the cabin itself and its surroundings are. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is the perfect place to do it. I would return to this wonderful rental in a minute! Missed it the minute we left!

Fantastic!!

We couldn't have been happier with this cabin! It had a great view overlooking the lake. Great wrap-around porch with a hot tub, nice bed, and nice little kitchen. At the bottom of the hill is a marina where you can rent boats for the day...I highly recommend doing that. This cabin was perfect for us...I'd give it 8 stars if I could. We will definitely be coming back soon!!

Breathtaking

Alex was the most hospitable host. The cabin was beautiful and the pictures do not do it justice. Everything was so clean. Sitting in the living room with the door open, or on the porch, you could hear Alex playing beautiful music on his guitar. I could not have asked for a better place for a romantic getaway. Make sure you go to Wayan Bald lookout tower to take in the most spectacular view of God's creation.

We are happy when our guests are happy. I was playing my nylon string guitar, I didn't know that guitar projects up to the guest cabin above us. Anyway, thanks, I love playing guitar and providing a wonderful cabin for guests to enjoy and make memories! Loved it!!!

The price is unbelievable. The land is being reconstructed but now is the time to rent. Lots of seclusion, amazing covered porch, beautiful interior, cute country diner-marina at end of street, and large canoes with personal dock. In a short distance we reached an island with hike to a view/bald and later canoed into a cove with a small waterfall/swimming area.

Stay in the Mountains

My husband and I just got married in Topton and used the cabin as our get away after the reception. The hot tub was fantastic, the bed was super comfortable, and the view during the few hours we were there before the wedding was wonderful. The drive up is a beast, which we hadn't known about ahead of time. You definitely need a 4-wheel drive to get up, but I would not recommend a truck because theres barely enough room for one car to go up. Overall, great!!

It is a gravel road to my cabin for about 350 ft.. If you drive medium to medium slow speed up the road it's fine. I have a 1996 Geo metro that drives up the road just fine. Front wheel or all wheel drive is no problem. Thanks for staying at my cabin.

Wonderful Cabin

This is a beautiful location with great views in a wonderful cabin. The only things we needed to get were tin foil and food, everything else was provided. The deck is wonderful with views of ether the lake or the forest, and has a hammock and hot tub, as well as table and chairs for relaxing outdoors. Indoors is very cozy and the bathtub has a nice jetted corner tub. The bed is beautiful and super comfy. There is also a private dock by the lake and access to two canoes. Alex is a great communicator and David was a wonderful caretaker. All around recommended and we will be back :)

Great value for great escape . . .

We booked our 3-day weekend just a few days ahead. Alex was very prompt in communicating with me via email and answering my questions. The pictures on the website don't do the cabin and its lake view justice; both are better than you would expect. (The only view that wasn't great was off the backside of the covered deck.) We had quite a bit of rain while we were there, but the large area of the deck that is covered made it possible for us to still enjoy the outdoors for eating, reading in the rocking chairs, and hot tubbing. We also liked the fact that it was a short drive (30-40min) to the NOC for rafting down the Nantahala River, and about 30min to Andrews for Mass on Sunday morning. Definitely a great place for a couple to spend some quiet time in the woods, listening to just the birds -- very little car noise from Wayah Rd while we were there. It was nice to have access to a canoe for going out on the lake, but the walk back up from the road can be taxing if you're out of shape like me! Keep your eyes open for snakes around the dock. Comfy bed. Will definitely keep this one on our list of rentals to go back to again.

Peaceful..Relaxing..Awesome..Recommended!!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this property celebrating our 25th anniversary. Let me tell you that you won't find another rental as accommodating as this one. The location was excellent! The home was immaculately clean, linens and towels furnished and the bed was already made for us, awesome view of the lake, the hot tub was clean and ready for us to enjoy (and trust me we did enjoy it), the huge deck with the log rockers, table and chairs were accommodating, we enjoyed the fire at night in the chiminea, full kitchen with all the necessities we needed, and the owners were great at providing the rental agreement and their willingness to accommodate us. The photos of the property are pretty accurate. If you need a get away that takes you away from the worries of everyday life then this is the place to stay. I have a huge problem with knowing how to relax and just chill out but having no internet and no cell phone service plus the serenity of the area for three days made my stay worthwhile. I was able to enjoy my time with my husband without any interruption. The bed slept great and I meant to check out what mattress was on the bed before I left so when it is time to replace mine I would like to purchase the same. The town of Andrews is just an 18 mile trek if you need any groceries or a little wine. The drive there is also scenic. I have recommended this rental to several of my friends whom I know would enjoy their stay there as much as we did. Thank you Alex for sharing your home with us and we will be back.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

My boyfriend and I just returned home from spending a week at this awesome cabin. We enjoy exploring national parks, so this was not our first cabin rental, but it was by far the best! If I was to describe this cabin, I would say it's modern, yet rustic. The new appliances, satellite cable and wireless internet provide the comforts you thought you left at home, while the decor and atmosphere remind you that you are out in a remote and beautiful part of the state. The cabin has a great deck that looks out onto Nantahala Lake, with a Chiminea, hot tub and a hammock. What else can you ask for? One of our favorite amenities was the private dock with canoes. As you can imagine, the lakefront access is fairly limited except for the public boat ramp. Having a dock with private parking allowed us to pack up a cooler, fishing rods/tackle and everything else you would need to fish until the sun went down and access the lake whenever we wanted to. We took the canoes out several times to explore the lake and fish in deeper water. The road to the cabin was graded adequately and is accessible by car in all but the worst conditions. We didn’t need to use 4wheel drive, but it was fairly steep and if the road was wet or covered with snow, we were glad we had that option. Unless you plan on staying when it snows, a car should be just fine. A quick note about some other things we were happy to have… New, working appliances (microwave, flat top stove, fridge with ice/water dispenser, dishwasher) Nice shower with hot water and good water pressure Fairly remote location – with respect to neighbors…there was one other cabin several hundred feet above us that shared our driveway. We only saw their vehicle a handful of times. Lifejackets and paddles are provided for the canoes (we weren't sure originally) If you are looking for a great place, located right in the middle of all the best hiking, fishing and outdoor activities, you would be hard-pressed to find a better combination of rustic, clean, comfortable and modern. Alex was a pleasure to work with and we can't wait to visit again!

Rejuvinating Cabin experience with stellar lake view!

Last year we rented a different cabin from this owner and enjoyed our week at Nantahala Lake and returned this year for vacation. I've got quite the list of demands in a cabin because I'm not used to "roughing it" and don't plan to learn how to do that on vacation or it could not be defined as "vacation". This place has everything I need for a week in the woods: - Water. It's filtered well water that doesn't taste rusty! The hot water heater works well too and you can have a nice hot shower any time you like. - High quality king size bed. Night after night my wife and I got the best rest we've had in a looooong time. You'll agree. - Complete/Updated kitchen: All the big appliances are new and work well and are super clean. The kitchen has all the stuff you need too and it's not cheap cookware. There's even a mixer for making pancake and cake batter (I do a lot of cooking and baking on vacation because there's time to do it slowly for fun!) - Rocking Chairs: Two very comfy rocking chairs sit on the deck overlooking the lake and the chimnea (for deckside fires when it's cool at night). Smores anyone? - Hot tub: Nice tub that is properly maintained and cranks right up to 100+ degrees! - High speed internet/dish TV: We were able to stay connected with the world AND stream some movies to my iPad in the evenings. It was also good to be able to watch CNN now and then to make sure we weren't missing something monumental. - Friendly caretaker: As others have commented, the property caretaker (Dave) is a super nice guy and will help you if you have questions about the area or anything else for that matter. We spent our days driving around to enjoy the fall leaves, walking by the lake, fishing, and taking in the beauty of this area of our wonderful America. Our evenings were spent on the deck enjoying a fire in the chimnea and using our telescope to look at the zillions of stars in the sky (borrow one if you don't own one and bring it with you. It's the perfect spot for sky gazing!). I hesitate to write such an amazing review of this property for fear it will only serve to book it up solid when I want to go back, but I'll post it anyway. If you rent here, you will not be disappointed. It's a clean, well cared for cabin that has everything you need to enjoy some time away from the hustle bustle of your world.

Great view

We stayed for our honeymoon. The cabin was very nice. It had some pros and some cons. I loved the kitchen, the appliances were all in fantastic condition. However, many of the cooking utensils and pans were a bit dirty. Not a big deal, I just washed them. Just a note of something to check. The deck was fantastic! The view was just absolutely breathtaking! We enjoyed playing ping pong and relaxing in the hot tub. The biggest disappointment was the grill. It was one of the $20 Walmart specials. Trying to grill fresh veggies, steak and shrimp on it was challenging. I was concerned that as wobbly as it was that it was going to collapse on the deck and cause a fire. There was also no grill brush or pot holders. It wasn't something we felt we needed to complain about then, as there wasn't anything that really could have been done. But it is something to consider in the future for an update. Something else that would make a nice addition to the cabin would be a fire pit out back. The chiminea also seemed a bit hazardous with its location on the deck. The last thing we want to do is accidentally set fire to the lovely, little cabin. The woodburning stove in the cabin was wonderful. It was a bit cool and windy during out visit. It kept us nice and toasty. There is a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, but it is enormous and the hot water tank is only 40 gallons. It probably would have been nicer to just make a large walk-in shower instead. The bed was plenty large enough, but the pillows had definitely seen better days. There is HD satellite, but the television is an older model not suited for that and the picture was fuzzy. There were canoes that could be used, but it was very windy when we were there, so we opted not to try it. However, just looking at the paddles, there were two wooden ones, but one was cracked and held together with duct tape. There was a child's paddle and then there were two plastic rowboat oars. The lake shore was very nice though, and we really enjoyed fishing there. Overall though, we had a wonderful time. It was a nice escape and Alex was very pleasant to work with. The view was gorgeous, the nights were quiet and the cabin was close to the small stires and marina on the lake. The construction on his new cabin did not bother us at all. Don't let my review deter you from staying here. They are just some recommendations for Alex for future improvements for guests to come. Thank you so much for the wonderful visit!

As we explain to renters when we greet them at check in, that anytime or anything that is needed please call us. We respect our guests’ privacy. Gorgeous view

This cabin was amazing! It has beautiful views and lots of amenities. You will not be bored even if it rains! Fireplace, hot tub on the covered deck that allows you to see the view, a pool table, ping pong table and canoes you can reserve to go out on the water right across the street! Will definitely stay there again when we go back to the Smokey Mountains.

That view!!! Wow!

Things could have been a little cleaner and updated more but otherwise, that beautiful view and the mountain itself, totally made up for it! Perfectly secluded, and peaceful! Definitely need a 4x4 to get up the driveway. We had one, luckily, but I don’t recall seeing that one was required.

I drive up the road every day in a 1996 Geo metro without 4x4. If you drive up the road medium slow and with steady speed (not go and stop )on the wide side of the turns then you will not have a problem to drive up to my cabin. Front wheel drive or all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive at the best. I do not recommend rear wheel drive. but I've had corvette owners and chargers stay at the cabin. It's a great lakeview cabin in the mountains.

Private/secluded, great view, well appointed

This is a great property that is close to hiking/biking/paddling, but yet secluded and quiet. We loved hanging out on the porch overlooking the lake, enjoyed the hot tub, grilled out and hung out on the comfortable deck furniture, and just generally appreciated the lovely setting. The property is kind of "modern rustic," in that it's got a cabin feeling but with more conveniences than we might have expected. Alex is very attentive and helpful, and the fireworks over the lake on July 4th were a great bonus! We explored nearby Wayah Bald, biked in the Nantahala National Forest, kayaked the Nantahala, and drove/hiked our way up and around the Cherohala Skyway. All of these things are very close by. And right down the hill from the property is a marina and a restaurant. We didn't visit there, but it was literally right down the hill from the cabin, far enough away to be private but super convenient if you wanted to walk down. We'd highly recommend this property!

Nice cabin with a beautiful view

We enjoyed the stay in the cabin. Alex was very helpful and met us personally at the cabin upon arrival. Showed and explained everything. Location is wonderful, and spectacular view of the lake from a top.. We'll definitely come again.

Fall in the Smokies.

Views from the cabin were absolutely gorgeous. Cabin was clean and well appointed. Alex oir host couldn't have made the check in and out process easier. He stopped by to explain how everything worked and provided some information about the surrounding area. This will be a trip we will never forget. I can't think of anything that would have made the stay more enjoyable other than more time there.

Great Mountain Getaway

Overall great stay! The owner met us and followed us up to the cabin to show us around. He left us to ourselves the rest of the time but was always available if needed and very helpful. The hot tub, mountain view, and inside of house is as advertised. Beautiful view from the porch and hot tub! The cabin is very secluded and quiet. We stayed to ourselves the whole time. The road up was a little steep and tricky but manageable. Couches could have been a little cleaner but other than that no complaints. Very nice cabin and would definitely return! Only 1 restaurant and 1 store but the restaurant was closed and the store has very little. Closest grocery store is 20 minutes away. Bring what you need before getting there!

Fantastic view and welcoming host

This is a great location for a short get away with beautiful views of the lake and a cabin that has everything you need to make wonderful memories. Alex was great at welcoming us to the property, giving us advice on a few local places and making sure we had everything we needed. The hot tub and the fireplace were excellent additions and were well used during our stay. This is definitely a place to look into if you're interested in visiting the Lake Nantahala area.
