Our cottage is not fancy or huge. It's cozy, clean and right on Lake Nantahala, one of the highest and cleanest lakes in the Eastern U.S. My late wife and I bought the cottage years ago as a perfect escape from the busyness of Atlanta. Now, my new wife and I want to share it with you.

We have no pool tables or hot tubs or game rooms. We DO have a great private dock, books, dvd's, and a place to simply unwind without all the usual distractions of home. Swim from our private dock. (Bring your snorkle gear ... i usually see fish when I snorkle around our dock ... the water is crystal clear) Bring your boat (ramp is 2 minutes away) or rent one from Lakes End Marina (or use our canoe and kayaks.) Kids love our dock, the many streams to wade in, and places to hike and explore (we're practically surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest). Parents love the quiet setting, and our huge collection of books and movies, and the fact that your cell phone or your digital devices won't work up here! We've recently installed satellite internet, so you can connect to the world, if you choose. BUT ... you might want to lie to your kids and tell 'em their devices won't work at the cottage. There are great restaurants 20-45 minutes by car (or ride your boat across the water to Lake's End Grill), a Super Walmart in Murphy (35 minutes away) for supplies, hiking trails all around (the Appalachian Trail is 20 minutes away), whitewater rafting close by, and lots of places to wander. There's a casino nearby, if. you're into that sort of thing. We are not Disney World. We are quite pleased to be 'all natural'.
