You have a private entrance taking you downstairs to a remodeled and tech-savvy home full of clean lines, TVs, fast WiFi, and a kitchenette. the perfect spot for family and friends you will love this home away from home in the heart of Boston!

Recently remodeled and fully furnished throughout, this two bedroom home includes a beautifully appointed kitchen with new appliances, including stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished with beautiful new crisp linens, pillows and bed coverings. Spacious living room has extra sleeping space with a sofa. Smart HDTV, free high-speed WiFi and keyless access.

Guests have full access and complete privacy inside the home and may enjoy full use of outdoor amenities as well. Instructions for access, check-in, checkout and directions to the home are provided in the house manual on Homeaway. When checking out, please be sure all windows and doors are locked prior to your departure.

This is the downstairs part of the main house.
Please park in the driveway only.

We felt it was a total misrepresentation of this, Home. You look at the home on the Internet and look at the rooms look much bigger I guess hidden in the words that says that you only get the basement. I got there on a rainy night. Tried to reach the host because we couldnā€™t find out how to get in and we were trying on all the doors. By some kid lives in the driveway and says he lives there and tells us were in the basement. We have stayed in many VRBOā€˜s never had such a negative experience.

BC Parents Weekend

This was a great place to stay in place of a hotel. Location was close to campus and other Boston activities. Beds were super comfortable and the studio was very clean and decorated nicely!

Very nice apartment!

We stayed here during the Boston Marathon. It is a great location, close to Boston, in a very nice neighborhood. The apartment was very clean and well appointed. We will stay here again.

Mother/Daughter Trip

We loved staying here. Neighborhood was very quiet and we always felt safe. We were gone during the day and would return late at night and the extra lighting around the entrance was excellent. We rented a car and parking was easy and always available. We would stay here again and highly recommended.

Wonderful basement apartment which was also a perfect location for college move-in into Boston! Able to sightsee easily and looked like public transportation was easily accessible on foot (we ended up driving mostly). The town had shops for the essentials for school - it was great! The only notes I had were that the description and some check-in/check out information didnā€™t exactly match the property. It talked about having access to the whole house and living room with a pullout couch plus a dishwasher. None of that was there and seemed to be from another listing. I appreciated the Keurig with K cups provided. They were out of coffee mate creamer so I left a few individual ones to replenish their supply. Excellent communication. Parking was great! And the greeter cats (outside) were pretty funny. Thanks for a great stay!

White door

The only issue we had was locating the correct door. If it was listed in the description I must have missed it. The door looks kind of like a cellar door. Just highlighting that itā€™s a white door would be very helpful.

Okay

Very expensive, but that's Newton. On-site parking is a definite plus! Well maintained and clean, but there were bugs--it's a basement unit. Nice bathroom and kitchnette. It was too far from the subway stop--at least a 15-minute walk and under a highway overpass. Of course, you don't know exact location till you book.

This review will have good and bad aspects of the apartment. First, the good features. The apartment was very clean, especially the bathroom. The bed was a queen size bed and quite comfortable. The bathroom was very nice, water pressure and temperature of the shower were good. The kitchen was small but well equipped with an induction one burner cooktop, microwave, toaster, blender, rice cooker, and appropriate utensils. The second bedroom with a single bed had a door to separate it from the main bedroom and living area. The neighborhood was very pleasant and quiet. There is adequate space for a car. It is an approximately 15 minute walk to the local metro station with some mild hills and uneven pavement. There are two busy roads to cross in addition. As listed, this is a basement apartment so it can be somewhat dark. It is approximately a mile to a laundromat and there are very few stores close within walking distance. Now for some not so attractive features of this apartment. There was a small lip to step over from the entryway into the apartment. In addition, there are small single steps from the bedroom living area to the kitchen and another to the bathroom. The most bothersome issue are two dehumidifiers which are running constantly and making a fair bit of noise. You will need a very good set of ear plugs in order to sleep at night or truly be able to sleep through anything. There is an instruction sheet not to turn off one of the dehumidifiers.

Unit is not a 2 bedroom. The unit is not fire code compliant. When I asked for refund, the host(s) lied and said they are charged fees by VRBO if I cancel.

A bunker of a unit

The unit was largely unusable. The only chairs were four straight back dining chairs. There should have been occasional chairs where you could relax. There was no usable counter space in the kitchen. It was all taken up by appliances so that when we cooked we had to put appliances on the floor so there was someplace to put food for prep and cooking. The windows were obstructed by dehumidifier hoses and the place was a dark bunker as was proven when our power went out for two hours. Finally, the bath opened right into the food prep area. It was clean, but that was the only plus. Deceptive pictures.

Nice, leaves room for improvement

Really nice place overall. Would have been nice to have a chair to sit on other than the dining room chairs. We would have given it five stars but the air conditioner was mobile and we had to empty a bucket of water the AC produced which meant we couldnā€™t be gone more than 7 hrs at a time and had to wake up early to make sure the bucket was emptied. It was a burden that was not disclosed until AFTER reservation was booked. The temp in the room was difficult to keep around 73/4 degrees. There was also a dehumidifier that when left on pushed out HOT air. We turned it off to get the place from 81 degrees to 73/4 degrees which took two nights. We really liked the area though!! Just do your due diligence! We did not! We thought it was a house to ourselves because I indicated that through VRBO filter but it ended up being the basement of the house!! Not seeing that it was a basement apt was on me but the heating/cooling situation should be addressed!! Not trying to be mean, rude or disrespectful, just informative for those who actually read reviews!!!šŸ‘

Great stay

The property was clean and welcoming. Check in time is too late and check out is too early. Responses from owner were quite delayed and therefore not always relevant. We paid a lot of money for cleaning fee but we were still obligated to take our trash out and wash the dishes. Location is ok, relatively close to Newton center and Boylston street. Warming tray was not working so we could not cook. We set the heat to 70 degrees but seems like it was also controlled by the owner because it was reduced (not by us) to 64 degrees several times, the room was freezing cold when that happened and we had to watch the thermostat to make sure the temp remains on 70 degrees.

Lovely apartment in Newton

This basement apartment is very cozy and has some natural light. It is extremely clean and has everything you might need.; there is even a second TV in the bedroom. The kitchen is compact but OK for simple meals and heating up. We had no problem with the humidifier and there is also AC. The hosts are kind, generous and very helpful. We wanted for nothing. The neighbourhood is quiet, walkable and very beautiful, and the house has a large, pleasant garden. There are quick road routes to various parts of the city, and parking is easy. Delivery services are available round the clock, which is convenient. Use Lyft or Uber for taxis, though. We wouod definitely return.

Small, clean, and close to the city

Overall we had an ok experience. This is a basement apartment that is setup like a studio apartment with a very small second bedroom. The listing described the house as having an extra couch for sleeping and dishwasher- both of which were not present. Communication with the host was quick and efficient. Self check in was easy and parking on site was available. The beds were very comfortable and ample linens were provided. The house rules listed on the listing didnā€™t include anything about allowing guests to the unit. I was denied permission to have my 70yo mother come to the house for a few hours to babysit my daughter on 2 of the evenings. I have rented numerous times in the past and this has NEVER been an issue. The host advised that all requests are at the discretion of the owners, however it should have been listed on the house rules prior to booking. There are two dehumidifiers in the basement. I was sent instructions about having to empty them which we ended up having to do multiple times a day. We didnā€™t make it through a night without being woken up to a loud alarm around 4am that did not not until the unit was emptied. The second night we tried emptying the unit at 10pm and still didnā€™t make it through the night without having to empty the unit. Because of the humidity, the unit had a strong musty odor that took some getting used to. The stairwell to the basement was quite steep and the light in it was not working
