Stringy Bark, a Modern House with all the comforts!

Stringy Bark is a remarkable new holiday house situated on the water front at American River, Kangaroo Island. Newly constructed in 2017, this architectural house is fresh, fun and ideally set up with all the comforts and inclusions for a fantastic holiday rental. You can sit on the huge front deck under the shade of the stringy bark trees to take in the water views and enjoy the birdlife, sailboats and dolphins, which regularly visit the American River channel.

Space:
This house is set up “pod” style, with 2 separate buildings. The front building hosts an excellent, fully equipped contemporary kitchen, spacious living room, dining area and large master bedroom (Queen Bed) with en suite bathroom. This part of the house has a wood burning combustion heater, reverse cycle air conditioning/heating, WC and laundry facilities. Large picture windows offer expansive views of American River Channel and Eastern Cove and fill the living area with natural light, warmth and ventilation.

The back building holds a further 3 generous bedrooms (2 Queen Beds and Double & Single bunk, with an extra pull out single), large bathroom with shower, separate WC and powder room and a central living room with couch.

For 2 guests only, you can be fully contained in the front pod with all the space and facilities you need. However, if you have more than 2 guests you then also hire the back pod. This clever arrangement of space provides the option for larger groups to have separate but adjacent spaces, providing privacy or the chance to let the kids be noisy “out the back”.

In total, this house can comfortably accommodate 10 people across 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets.

Guest access:
When you hire Stringy Bark, you are hiring the whole house. You will not be sharing the space with any one outside of your group.

Guest interaction:
There is a local property manager who will assist you with your stress free booking procedures and anything you need while staying at the house. She does not live on property but will come around if you need anything during your stay. She is just a phone call or text away.

Neighbourhood overview:
In American River, you are in the heart of Kangaroo Island fishing adventures. The River is breaming with whiting and salmon trout. Squid can be caught off the jetty throughout the year. The house is within walking distance to the acclaimed Oyster Shop and other local restaurants. There is a small shop associated with the local Post Office, which offers your basic supplies. The foreshore BBQ facilities, children's playground and public tennis court are located just across the street, only a few minutes walk away. You are only a 5 minute drive from the stunning Pennington Bay or local hidden gem, Red Banks or 15 minutes from Min Oil Beach. There are beautiful walking trails throughout American River, including "The Cannery" which is an American River trail to Ballast Head. It's stunning!

Getting around:
You definitely need your own vehicle when visiting Kangaroo Island. It is a very large, very rural place with many dirt roads.

Other things to note:
This is strictly a no pet property. This is not negotiable.

The house comes with your required bedroom linen and towels. We do not supply beach towels. You will need to pack and bring these with you.

StringyBark is not connected to Wi-Fi. Sorry no binging!

This house relies completely on rainwater. We expect all guests to be considerate and conservative in their use of water.
