Dawson’s Diggs: Causeway, Lake Access & Kayaks

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the smooth early check-in, the new stove and oven, and Dawson’s convenient location beside the Causeway. We are sorry the cleanliness details did not meet your expectations. In three separate communications, we invited you to contact us if you needed anything. Because these concerns were not reported during your stay, we did not have an opportunity to inspect or address them while you were there. We will nevertheless review them with our cleaner. The directions to the shoreline stated: “Walk across the street toward the yellow cottage. Continue just beyond it. Turn left onto the short, wide path leading directly to the shoreline.” The yellow cottage and its stairs are private property and are not the designated access. Unfortunately, the neighboring owner had to redirect you after you entered his property. The cottage, its location and its listed amenities are genuine. Some recently added lifestyle images are artistic promotional renderings based on the actual cottage and surroundings. We understand that travelers may prefer documentary photographs, and we are reviewing the listing to ensure that the distinction is completely clear. We appreciate your kind words about the host and are glad you still enjoyed your weekend in Burlington.

We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the cottage's unique character and its convenient location near the Causeway and Burlington. We appreciate you bringing the bathroom concerns to our attention. The bathroom is equipped with a window for ventilation, and after receiving your comments we inspected and cleaned the areas you mentioned to ensure everything is in good condition for future guests. We're sorry that you ran short of toilet paper during your stay. Additional supplies are available upon request, and I wish I had known during your visit, as I would have been happy to bring more over right away. Regarding the lawn, we experienced an unusually rainy stretch of weather during that period, which made it difficult to maintain our normal mowing schedule. We do our best to keep the property well maintained despite changing weather conditions. Thank you again for your feedback. Thank you for noting that Dawson’s Diggs was clean and that everything worked properly. I am sorry the cottage did not meet your expectations. Dawson’s Diggs is a small, older seasonal cottage, and its photographs and description show its size, sleeping arrangement, and that the bathroom is accessed through the smaller bedroom. It is not advertised as a private lakefront property. Guests are provided directions to the designated shoreline and kayak access because neighboring properties and their stairs are private. Regarding our communication, a neighboring owner told me that he had spoken with guests near his private access while my other cottage was unoccupied. I passed that information along only to protect the neighbor’s property and clarify the proper access route. When you assured me that you had not used his stairs, I accepted your explanation. It was never my intention to frighten or harass you, and I regret that my messages made you uncomfortable. I take the comments about the mildew odor and interior lighting seriously and will have both inspected and addressed. Dawson’s Diggs is best suited to one couple seeking a simple, rustic cottage near the Causeway, and I will continue working to ensure that its description makes that character and layout unmistakably clear.
