A wonderful stay! Such a fantastic spot, one which my parents visited for many summers in the past It was a treat to visit again, even in October! The fireplace came in handy and paired well with the gorgeous ocean views.

Lovely view—hard to beat! Nice area and surrounding village. Enjoyed the lighthouse visit and hike on the nature trail to the rocky cliffs. Conveniently located for sightseeing.

Idyllic Getaway!

The ocean front setting is gorgeous, could not be better. We had lovely family time filled with ocean breezes, rock walking, lots of sunshine, yard games and board games. The only reason to leave the property is to pick up lobsters for dinner!

Best view in Maine

This house is an architectural delight! Definitely could use some updating but the view and design are flawless. Wish it was for sale! Sheila is an absolute gem to work with! Definitely will be in touch with her to rent again.

A bit of heaven

First of all, even if there wasn’t a dwelling at this location, geologically speaking, this is a phenomenal place to be. It’s like a national park setting all of your own. Then there’s the house. Some Frank Llyod Wright like minded individual must of been sent there 60 years ago with the request to design a home that would make the best of what the property had to offer. This is a very unique home. Obviously a lot of thought went into embracing the views while being able to comfortably entertain and nurture its guests. And it’s in incredible shape considering it’s age. The ground floor to roof peak glass facade and accompanying deck welcome the rising sun and delightful ocean views all through the day. After dark the double sided fireplace is designed to comfort those both in the living room and kitchen area. The kitchen is large and well equipped. It too has a incredible view as the back of the house is set in the woods, same ground floor to roof peak glass design. This time embracing a forest environment complete with a naturally occurring stream that ends in small pools and waterfalls emptying into the Boulder strewn waterfront. That’s just the first floor. The 2 bedrooms on the second floor give an “opera balcony’s view” over the glass facades views outside, both front and back , but also offer a view down into to the living spaces just below them. When the fireplace is burning , it can be seen reflecting in the glass facades from all 3 beds on the second floor. A rare treat. After dark I would open the door to the expansive screened in side porch that leads to the deck out front and build a fire. The hearth is very deep so it takes some doing to set up the wood, but to hear the surf and the crackling of the fire is intoxicating. No music required. There is a hot air gas fired heating system with controls in easy each in the foyer when needed. Not that we used it, but there is another section of this house that has more living space. Two more beds. A full bathroom, kitchenette, washer, dryer, wood stove and propane heater. The owners of this property have quite a gem here and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be able to experience a stay here again.

Beautiful views but need heaters

You can’t beat views on deck. Stayed in mid May and bought two heaters as 2 bedrooms have no heat as well as kitchen and living room. The newer section has heat but two twin beds. The older section has open ceilings so you may want to bring a noise machine if you have snorers. The views and deck are the best.

Perfect Relaxing Maine Getaway

My wife and I rented this place as a relaxing getaway to recharge. This was the perfect place to do so. The area was extremely quiet and beautiful. The views are excellent and we enjoyed relaxing on the deck watching a seal catch fish and a bald eagle circle the area hunting. At low tide we’d explore the tide pools with our puppies and were one day treated to finding a large striped bass swimming about. Our puppy had a blast as the fish swam through her legs and circles around her. The kitchen is fairly well appointed and you’ll find everything you need at the cottage for surf and turf everyday. A great place to unwind and watch the waves crash.

Amazing retreat

This cottage is lovely and the setting is incredibly beautiful. The area is quiet and peaceful, the perfect location for an October retreat from everything stressful. The crashing of the waves lulled us to sleep at night and we spent hours on the deck just watching the sea birds and the occasional seal. It was perfect.

A most spectacular setting

Well designed house with countless amenities made this a favorite place to stay at. From sunrises to moonlit nights overlooking the ocean makes for a memorable vacation stay.

Spectacular site

Couldn't ask for a more dramatic location. The sound of the waves crashing was a soothing tonic. Very private down a long drive. Would love to return!

Interesting house in a Lovely Setting but...

Sea Change is most interesting architecturally and is set very near the open Atlantic with a fantastic view. Perfect setting for watching lobster boats and the many sea birds. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay and left early. The major issue was that we came at the end of October and encountered a multi-day Nor'Easter. No matter how much we ran the furnace and fired up the fireplace we could not get the heat over 65F! The cottage, with its large single paned windows and lack of insulation, was obviously was not comfortable in such cold and windy weather. However, it would be a totally different story in the summer. Also, if you are not aware of what the open ocean is like in a storm be prepared for lots of thundering and crashing from waves on the rocks. My wife was not bothered but I found it relentlessly noisy! Not the cottage's fault at all but inlanders might be in for a surprise if they are looking for quiet. In spite of the issues encountered, the management company and owners were extremely co-operative and understanding from first contact until our premature leaving.

We definitely don't recommend renting end of season unless you're prepared for adventure! Maine weather in May or October especially can be hit or miss. (Please note, however, that the back third of the house-- the extension we call "Small Change" IS in fact insulated).

Spectacular spot

We had a wonderful getaway stay at Sea Change. The photos don't lie, this cottage has an unusual and interesting design, is very comfortable and private. The coastal view is spectacular. While it is on a quiet road, there is easy access to a good grocery store, ice cream shop, art galleries, and several restaurants.We took advantage of local tourist spots including the Pemaquid Lighthouse and the Rachel Carson Preserve.

Coming back!

When I first drove up to Sea Change, I couldn't believe the spectacular view. I immediately called to see if I could stay longer. Inside is clean, cozy and comfortable. The living room has sweeping views of the sea. The fireplace is huge. We used it every night. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We grilled out frequently and spent lots of time sitting on the deck or exploring tide pools. It was wonderful going to sleep ever night to the sound of the ocean. We loved it! I've already booked it for 2013!

Sea Change Exceeded Our High Expectations

Sea Change is a delightful and comfortable property in every way. For those who enjoy the sights and sounds of crashing waves and playful sea birds, and brilliant star gazing , this is the place. It is also an architecturally interesting house with views in every direction.From the dining room table you can watch the birds in the forest or look out to the bay. There is everything one needs in the way of kitchen appliances and utensils as well as a selection of books, lots of local information, and comfortable furniture. The deck, screened in porch , and perfectly positioned hammock add wonderful places to sit and view the scenery or read. The location is perfect for going in a few minutes by car to Reilly’s Grocery Store for anything one could possibly need. The delicious freshly baked muffins each morning at Reilly’s make it a great destination for a walk too. Other nearby walks include a beautiful one around Back Cove. We highly recommend a stay at Sea Change and are looking forward to our next week there this summer.

MAGICAL!

We stayed at this amazing place for a week last year. Views are not to be believed! (except when the fog rolls in-- but that has its own romance). And love this house! Its like a ship on the ocean... and the grounds around the house are totally wild and enchanting. Lush grass (gotta get back to that hammock-- practically hangs over the ocean!), flowers, pine trees, a babbling brook. Amazing. But falling asleep to the sound and smells of the surf is probably what i miss that the most. The kids loved exploring the rocks and tide pools. There's even a tiny fresh water "swimming hole" down there, if you can take the freezing water (I can't, but the kids loved it). Magical spot.
