This grand & airy home comfortably sleeps 12. It has a gourmet kitchen with a Wolf range, Subzero Refrigerator, & ample counter space for cooking a gourmet meal for family & friends. The house has a working fireplace in the kitchen. Other amenities include a screen porch, laundry room, & private courtyard in the back yard with a sunken hot tub.
Castleton Farms is a one-of-a-kind estate with luxury amenities and rustic Virginia charm. In addition to the original 1850s Manor House, the property comprises thirteen beautiful guest houses, intimate cottages and large family homes, all discreetly nestled across 500 acres of rolling farmland. Escape from the everyday bustle to a serene haven of unspoiled, breathtaking mountain views. Castleton Farms is the perfect setting for a relaxing weekend, romantic escape, or family reunion.

House was ok. Staff were very nice/helpful. Pictures are not current. Many small issues - e.g., dishwasher not secured, new fridge poorly installed, many lights did not work, bad stink bug infestation. Kitchen lacked basic supplies and pots/pans to match the number of guests. Confusing reviews as the many different houses on the broader property are not always stated or differentiated (for example, our house did not have a pool though many reviews - for other houses - discuss a pool).

Perfect getaway

This is our second visit to Castleton and we have stayed in this house both times, we love the layout! the whole property is just amazing. We met the owner on this trip and she was so welcoming and informative about the history of the property. And the property manager Connie was so helpful with any questions we had.

Lovely get away

Enjoyed Castleton property very much. Stayed with a group of ladies and appreciated having separate bedrooms with baths. Kitchen very well appointed with everything you would need. Hot tub was in great shape, clean and ready to use! Beautiful property.

Fantastic Property

I’ve rented this house 2x now for a professional retreat and loved it both times! Wonderful setting, spacious - clean - comfortable house, short drive to Culpepper for some lovely dinners. The staff is gracious and responsive. Highly recommend!

Perfect getaway!

This house at Castleton was great! Very large and well layed out. Everything was clean and the beds were all very comfortable. The manager, Connie, was very responsive and helped immediately with a small billing problem. The walk around the grounds was wonderful-We will be back!

Amazing stay all around

This house is amazing!! We were very comfortable. The beds were 5 stars and all of the bathrooms were stocked with tons of towels, shampoo/soap, and beach towels which was really nice. It’s great for a group to spread out and still be able to hang out together in the common areas. It’s an easy drive to Shenandoah for hiking or Front Royal for rafting. Connie is a wonderful host and I would definitely recommend this house or other cottages on the property to friends.

Wonderful holiday weekend!

Loved our stay at the property. A crazy amount of bed and bath options. Kitchen with fireplace and giant table was wonderful. Really enjoyed fishing in the ponds, playing tennis, walking the trails, seeing the animals, ping pong, hot tub, and more. Cell coverage would be an issue if required for work, etc. but internet worked well. Lots of fun. Would be a great place for a family reunion or holiday. Bed/bath/kitchen great for large group, but interior seating for group beyond kitchen was limited to one living room area. Lots of outside options if weather allows.

4th Return Visit to Castleton!

100% reliable and accommodating- very friendly and responsive booking process, easy check in, Fair Haven is a fantastic house with beautiful views for a reunion of friends. Kitchen is well appointed but the best part is the great rooms with nice big comfy beds where each couple had a private bath. Thank you so much, once again, for the great experience! Happy 2023!

Beautiful property and location

We were a group of friends with young children who stayed at Castleton for hiking, animals and pool. The property is lovely and has all of those things! The house was large and beautiful, and had clean towels, coffee, comfortable beds, and great rooms. The pool was large and clean and comfortable, with a great hot tub. The walk was lovely. The hosts are communicative and helpful. Only small thing is the outside of the house could have been cleaner / tidier and the house was a bit sparse in terms of rugs / art so was not as cozy as we thought it might be. However, we will definitely return and are excited for another stay next year!

Great house and area!

We had plenty of room for sleeping, towels, and kitchenware. Our group of adults + kids enjoyed the hot tub, hiking and boating in the area, and the property- especially the animals, walking trail, and pool house.

Beautiful House and Location

The courtyard and screened porch are wonderful. A very peaceful place. The lack of stairs and clutter made this a great rental for our toddler and elderly parents.

Castleton Always Rocks!

This is our third time staying in a Castleton home for New Years and it’s always great! So easy to book, easy to communicate, easy to check in/out, linens provided, just great! This time we stayed at Fair Haven which is huge! It looks like half used to be offices so it’s very spacious. Well appointed kitchen, great courtyard, comfy beds. Thank you and happy new year!

Spectacular stay but too short

We had a great stay at Fair Haven with family and friends. The grounds around the property are beautiful. My wife and I ventured out onto the paddleball nearby at the larger pond. Beds were all very comfortable and having the linens provided was a nice plus. Wish we had the opportunity to stay longer. Maybe next time.

Lovely stay

It's a great house in such an interesting place. We loved the various gathering places and the layout of the house -- we could be together or away from each other so easily. The kitchen is great. We would definitely come back.

A giant house for a getaway

The house is huge with plenty of space for the 12 of us. The house and surrounding grounds was full of amenities. Connie was warm, helpful, and welcoming. Paul was wonderfully quick and just as warm and helpful. We had an issue with the WiFi speed being too slow for a couple members of our party to get work done. But if the plan is to unplug and get away from those kind of responsibilities, this place is awesome.

Peace and Quiet- Far from the Crowds.

We had an awesome stay at Fair Haven. The property is maintained well and we really enjoyed our stay. Connie was our contact and she was very helpful and responsive to all our needs. Our group consisting of five couples were getting together for the first time since the start of the Pandemic and it was nice to be able to enjoy the peace and quiet of Castleton Farms. We mostly chatted, ate a lot, chilled out, watched movies, walked some trails and visited some of the animals around the farm. All in all a very quiet and relaxing vacation. Thanks to Castleton Meadows.

Intimate Wedding

We booked Fairhaven for our intimate wedding and stayed the weekend with some family/friends. I agree with the previous reviewer about bugs and the wasps/outdoor maintenance. However, the hosts were so lovely and surprised us with a wedding gift basket and bouquet! We felt so welcome and had a great time.

Beautiful property

We really enjoyed our time at this property. It is in the mountains, so expect to deal with bugs- that happens. The outside needs some maintenance as wasps have built nests EVERYWHERE. so beware of this just in case you have allergies. The wasps did not bother us though!! A quick leaf blower in the courtyard to get all the leaves and twigs out would be a nice touch. Other than that, the stay was really great!

Escape to Castleton

We went to Castleton to escape the city for a while and it was wonderful. Connie and Paul are excellent property managers. Very responsive and nice. The animals are fun, the grounds are well kept and beautiful. We played tennis, hiked, fished, and swam in the pond. We recommend staying there!
