Another year gone by and another opportunity for relaxing weeks, away from hustle and bustle of traffic jams and crowded malls. This vacation spot in Newbury, heart of the Lake Sunapee area, is close enough to make life easy and far enough away from the crowds to enjoy nature, awesome views and quiet nights. An ideal getaway for everyone who loves the outdoors, five private wooded acres are yours to explore or take in the scenery from the huge main floor deck. In clear weather you can see for 20 miles over a 180-degree vista. Watch the morning fog rise from the valley floor, marvel at the changes in weather or watch hawks as they ride the thermals over the trees. Bike scenic local roads or hike in Newbury’s John Hay National Wildlife Refuge at The Fells. Dive into Lake Sunapee at two nearby public beaches (8 and 12 minutes away). If you love boating, charter cruises and boat/kayak/SUP board rentals are minutes away in Newbury Harbor. Boat owners are welcome to trailer their boat -power boats are welcome on Lake Sunapee- and launch at the public docks in Newbury Harbor or Mt. Sunapee State Park. The mountain’s Adventure Park is open all summer long with zip lining, aerial challenge course, bike park, mini-golf and much more.

After your day outside, relax in a beautiful new home where no detail is overlooked to ensure your comfort and enjoyment: master bedroom suite has a glass steam shower with music, vaulted living room has generous seating and 60” HD TV with surround sound, Wii console, DirecTV satellite, Netflix and Pandora services. Upstairs are two bedrooms and one full bath; on the main floor are the master bath, master bedroom with private deck, living room and enormous eat in kitchen – dining room. Owners love to cook and entertain so the kitchen is fully equipped for fun. Decks have seating for 10 and rolling bar cart; binoculars and star maps maximize your enjoyment of the views. The basement boasts a Foosball table, air hockey table and a sitting area with a 40 inch TV connected to DirectTV, as well as the same wonderful panoramic view of New Hampshire.

Absolutely Great! A very nice home with an amazing and breathtaking view. The view alone makes this home so much more enjoyable. You honestly will never tired of looking out and seeing God’s beautiful handiwork. Make sure you get up early to enjoy the beauty of the sun rise since each day is so different and so beautiful. Everything you would need, is in the home to make your stay a pleasant one. Mark and MaryBeth thought of all the little things that one would want or need to make your stay even more enjoyable. There is so much more here than what is listed in the description. Our stay was a lengthy one and we honestly felt at home. Come and enjoy a comfortable stay on top of this beautiful mountain top. I cannot leave this review without telling you about one of the best experience about staying at this property. That is the host, Mark, who is the ultimate host. Mark alone deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ We had a few minor issues since our stay was lengthy and when we contacted Mark, he not only responded in a very timely manner but also got the issues taken care of immediately. Mark is “Johnny on the spot” for sure. On top of all of the above, Mark and MaryBeth are genuinely very nice and so easy to work with. Thank you Mark and MaryBeth for not only sharing your home but also your professionalism that is filled with warmth and care.

Great Views

We really enjoyed our stay in New Hampshire for the month of October 2023. The house was great. The garage was available for our use and had plenty of room for our car. The garage had a door that accessed the basement level. The view from the back patio was beautiful. There was a nice screened porch on the balcony that kept the insects away. All the appliances worked well. The kitchen area is quite large with nice finishes and appliances. There was a good-sized smart TV in the living area. Cable was available but we also brought our own firestick to access our online subscriptions. This was a working vacation for my husband. The internet was okay and adequate for our use. The master bedroom is on the main level and has its own balcony. The queen bed is comfortable. The master bath is attached and has a large walk-in shower. There was a large (not walk in) closet in the master bedroom and a large dresser. There is a second half bathroom on the main level accessed off the hallway. The other bedrooms and a second full bathroom are on the second level. The washer and dryer were in a separate laundry room in the basement level. The owner’s communication was prompt and complete. We would rent this property again if we return to the area.

Absolutely Perfect House - This is THE Place in New Hampshire

Of all the VRBO's we have rented this house is by far the best! Well appointed, spacious, comfortable, super clean with everything you need. Mark even provides binoculars which you will surely want to use to look out over the valley and mountains. But even without the binoculars the view is fantastic. We lived on the back deck to take in the fall color change in the valley. Lake Sunapee and miles of hiking trails are only minutes away. Communication with Mark was super easy and check in was a breeze. This place felt like a second home us, and we would love to return in the future. We highly recommend this place to anyone.

Spectacular Vacation Rental

We call this oasis “home” for good reason. Spacious and comfortable, this lovely property has everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The well equipped kitchen with its Edison lights and granite island will wow you. The game room will satisfy your competitive spirit. You will find Arts and Crafts furniture throughout the home and will relish relaxing on couches and chairs in the sun drenched great room. But the screened dining room and expansive deck will keep you coming back for more. Scintillating sunrises and sunsets make this property live in your memory and beckon you, year after year.

Relaxing week with a view!

Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Mark's house soaking up the awesome mountain views and wowed by the sunrises! The house is well equipped and comfortable with everything you need for your stay. From the living room to the finished lower level with foosball and air hockey you can truly feel at home. We located a basket of information on local attractions and walking/hiking trails which was a plus! We recommend the Foot Trails of New London if you don't want to venture too far. The fully equipped kitchen includes all the barbeque essentials and a good selection of cookware, dishes and utensils was a nice plus! We spent our days hiking and enjoying Lake and Mt. Sunapee as well as a nice visit to Sunapee Harbor and a Lake Cruise. Evenings were spent on the expansive deck with a glass of wine drinking in the endless mosaic of stars! Mark was responsive to any requests or questions we had and even provided detailed last minute information about the house to help make your arrival and check-in less hectic. Kudos to Marks' cleaning crew! We have rented a good amount of VRBO properties and this was hands down the cleanest one we ever checked into! Andy K

Exceptional country retreat

We have stayed in many VRBO properties, and this was one of the very best. The house is expertly equipped with renters in mind. Communication with the owner was A+. The views from the deck make this property special. It's a short drive to Lake Sunapee and the mountain with shopping in New London just 25 min away. We have already planned a return visit next summer!

Wonderful place to stay!

All I can say is WOW, the view from the back deck is incredible! We spent so much time out there having coffee in the morning, grilling at night and just enjoying the view. The house is very nice inside and out and had everything we needed, we had a great time!

Another amazing stay

The house is a haven from the daily grind and has everything needed no matter the season. We had the great luck to be in the midst of the foliage changing and the incredible views were a highlight as usual. Mark is a great host and incredibly responsive. We look forward to staying again!

Gorgeous views!

The house and views were amazing! We loved the soaring ceilings, large rooms, fire pit on the deck, wood-burning stove in the LR, and the huge deck with amazing views. Everything was pretty perfect. The only slightly annoying thing is that you have to wash, dry, fold, and put away all the linens before checkout, which is on the earlier side (10am). You also have to take your garbage and recycling to the transfer station, which is closed on Thursday/Fri. We did an early drop on Wednesday and then the owner was nice enough to allow us to leave what we made from then until we checked out Fri morning. That was a nice accommodation, but on balance it would be much better/less work and less stressful (IMO), if you didn’t have to get rid of the garbage and wash all the sheets and towels before departure. That said, we’d stay there again because the place is so awesome.

Fantastic!

Beautiful house, beautiful location! All of the 5-star reviews are right! I especially appreciate the very well-equipped kitchen including cooking basics. The house is nicely furnished with everything you might need. Great hiking nearby (Sunset Hill, Eagles Nest, Clark’s Outlook). And Mark was a great host, quick to respond to every question. A note, there are a few miles of unpaved roads to get to the house.

A Great Stay

We stayed at this house over an extended period. We enjoyed it very much throughout. Lots to do nearby and lots of quiet, if you prefer. The house has plenty of inviting shared sitting and dining space. The deck on the back offers an expansive, peaceful view over the valley, looking south. There’s usually a shady spot in which to relax (moves with the sun) and the screened-in-area provides shelter from summer insects. It is well-furnished and fully outfitted with linens, kitchen equipment, and laundry / cleaning supplies. Cooking meals in the spacious kitchen or grilling on the deck was a pleasure. Food-wise, the house is within 15-20 minutes drive of Bubba’s, Ziggy’s Pizza, and New London’s restaurants. (New London is where we shopped for groceries and other necessities.) It is also close to Lake Sunapee, Sunapee State Park, and a broad choice of diverse walking and hiking options. Mark is an excellent, responsive host. Over the course of our stay, few issues came up. But when they did (a battery needed replacement, an oven bulb needed changing...), he always responded quickly to our phone call / text. Thank you Mark and Marybeth. You provided us a true home away from home in a beautiful country setting.

Amazing View!

The view was spectacular. Everything we needed for preparing Thanksgiving dinner while the kids were entertained with up to date media, airhockey and foosball table. Very relaxing.

Beautiful fall weekend

This is a beautiful, well appointed house with stunning views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and spent hours just enjoying the view from the deck and porch. The house was spotless and the host could not be nicer. He answered every one of my stupid questions with kindness and patience. We will definitely try and make it back to this beautiful spot in New Hampshire!

Wonderful home with gorgeous views

This home has everything you will need for your stay. It was very very clean and had everything we needed for a week in New Hampshire. We couldn’t get enough of the views on the back deck. The owner was very helpful. We will definitely book this home the next time we visit family in New Hampshire.

wonderful stay for us city folk who have been working the whole time. My husband and I really enjoyed the house and have discovered another part of new england that we love. We love to cook so the kitchen was perfect for our fun cooking projects. We had many wonderful times gazing at the incredible fall colors outside on the deck. I would love to come back.

Best Get-a-Way Ever

My husband and I really needed a rest and this home had it all! Although we only needed the downstairs bedroom, we never felt like the home was too much! Having sunrise and sunset from the same porch was incredible. We did a lot of walking and fall weather was perfect. We saw ski mountains and beautiful lakes. Even caught sight of a moose going down to town, but our dog barked and scared it off before my husband could get the phone out for the best picture ever. We read a lot on the deck and cooked out a lot, not really wanting to leave the scenery. House was appointed extremely well and directions nicely communicated. We loved our time here and hope to return with family or friends. Thank you Mark for a wonderful and safe vacation.

Repeat visit!

We previously rented Mark's house for 1 week and loved it so much we came back for another 2 week stay at the end of summer. The house is so well stocked, clean, & the views are unbeatable. We love the outdoor areas, the firepit, the comfy lounge chairs on the deck, & the close location to Newbury & the Newbury Harbor access to Lake Sunapee.

Lovely stay and lovely views.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at this house in the mountains. Great views from the deck -- we spent hours out there! The place was spotlessly clean. Family of four fit easily with room to spare. Great communication. Highly recommended.

A wonderful get-away!

This was an amazing setting for our New Hampshire get-away! The home was very clean, and Mark provided all of the information we would need to ensure a hassle-free stay. The location allowed for quick trips with our 11-month old (12 minutes to The Fells, ~ 10 minutes to Newbury Harbor, ~ 13 minutes to Sunapee State Beach) and we also explored some state parks a bit farther afield. The neighborhood was great for long walks, and the deck offers amazing views when you want to sit and relax. A+!

Beautiful home in a gorgeous location!

This home has everything you could want. Clean and spacious, beautiful kitchen, screen porch and deck, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. The views are amazing and the location is close to Mt. Sunapee, Sunapee Park Beach, antique shops, hiking trails, restaurants and shopping. Despite this, the house is secluded and private, so that you feel like you are truly getting away from it all!

Beautiful House

This is a beautiful and well kept house with terrific views and all the amenities for cooking. relaxing. etc Due to COVID-19 we would recommend visitors book their passes to Lake Sunapee State Park as well as boat cruises in advance, things fill up quickly.

Spectacular views

This was an A+ rental. Everything is new-ish and super clean. Views are jaw-dropping and the house is in quiet community away from it all, yet only 8 minutes from Newbury harbor. Better than all the pictures. We loved every minute!
