Chamonix #92, 1 Bedroom + Loft. Steps to Canyon Lodge, Ski-in Ski-Out

Chamonix #92 is a beautifully updated, one-bedroom plus loft, ski-in/ski-out townhome, located one block from Canyon Lodge. Sleeps 6!

On the bottom level, the master bedroom has a new Queen-size bed with a very comfortable “Dream Foam” mattress. The master bedroom also features its own adjoining bathroom with granite counters, slate tile shower and floors and Toto fixtures. The 3rd floor loft, features a bunk bed (extra-long Twin bunk over a Queen bed), as well as a Queen bed. The top Twin-bunk bed sleeps one person and is not recommended for children under the age of 6. In addition, there is a Twin-sized trundle bed. Both the master bedroom and loft feature flat screen TVs.

The second bathroom is on the mid-level, and has granite counters, a slate floor and shower, and Toto fixtures. A hairdryer is provided in both bathrooms.

On the main middle level, the kitchen has granite counters, an instant hot water dispenser, microwave oven, electric oven and stove, dishwasher, and a refrigerator with top freezer. The living area is an open floor plan with a sectional couch, dining table, chairs, desk, fireplace, piano, CD player, 45” TV with DVD player, and artwork to enhance our guests' visits. Large windows add light and a view of the ski area through the trees.

We welcome our guests, and request that the unit be used with care so that we may continue to host guests in Chamonix #92.

Our family had a great stay in this condo. The condo had all the amenities and very comfortable for 5 adults. It was so close to Canyon Lodge that we came home for lunch both days we boarded the mountain. Our only request is to put a deadbolt on front door. A simple push button door lock for front door doesn’t feel very secure. Otherwise… this condo was overall lovely.

One of the most upgraded places we’ve stayed in Mammoth, while still keeping that old ski town charm. Our stay was wonderful, everything was perfect. Couch was incredibly comfy after a long day of skiing. Heaters in the bathrooms which felt luxurious. Less than 10 minute walk to slopes - maybe even 5!

This is our second family visit to this clean, comfortable, well-located and reasonably priced unit, and we would certainly go back. Photos and description are accurate, and the walk to Canyon Lodge is short.

Great property, tons of room - super location!

We come up a few times a year. Condo was exactly as advertised. Open big living room area, rooms were good, TVs worked!, kitchen had all appliances. Walking distance to Canyon Lodge. Will stay here again!

Excellent location and stay The condominium was very comfortable and well priced for the location The master bed was not good and is in issue for me I would definitely stay there again and hope they get a new mattress

Our staff are human of course, and so even if we hit 95%, that still leaves some issues from time to time for guests to contend with. Beds are one of those things that is VERY personal. Some people like beds more firm, some more soft. One guest will LOVE the beds, and the next might hate them. We do not get bed complaints often about any one property, if we did we would encourage the owner to replace the bed. Nonetheless, from time to time we have a guest/bed match that doesn't work. If that happens for you, PLEASE CALL US! We stock a variety of toppers to help you achieve restful sleep during your vacation. In the most extreme cases, we do keep extra mattresses in storage and may be able to swap out the mattress temporarily for your stay and then return the original after you depart. In this case the concern isnt service related, but we still could have helped them. The last couple weeks have been a little warmer than usual in Mammoth (as high as 88 degrees), although mostly this summer has been mild, 80 degrees or less. We will happily pass on this suggestion about ceiling fans to the property owner, but did you know we stock portable box fans and portable air conditioners? Unfortunately, this guest never contacted our office to give us an opportunity to help them. If you have trouble during your stay, I encourage you to contact your VR manager while you are in the property, as they may well be prepared to handle your concerns. We have 18 full time staff members in our housekeeping, maintenance and guest services departments who we can call upon to resolve problems. If this happens, or if you are concerned about problems with a unit you are considering, please call our offices at Mammoth Five Star Lodging. We have staff available by phone or email, 7 days/week, 9am-6pm (Pacific) to ensure you book exactly the property you want and to address issues that may come up during your stay. Short Mammoth stay - Nice place

Nice place, we enjoyed it. The bed (mattress) downstairs in the master should be replaced, it's getting old, and was not really all that comfortable. The location was great, nice family oriented condo, even if it's getting a bit aged. Reminds me of our old family condo, just what we wanted. Unfortunately Mammoth shut the resort down due to Covid-19 hence we departed two days early. We would recommend this for a family of 4, it's got good vibes.

We perform multiple inspections before and after every guest stay, and we try to catch and correct any problems prior to check in, especially fireplaces. (We do a pre-arrival check for every guest and specifically check that fireplaces work). Mammoth winters can be severe, and winter weather often includes heavy winds that blow out pilots or otherwise disrupt gas fireplaces. We always confirm fireplaces work prior to arrival, but we cannot prevent the wind from blowing out the pilot in the interim. If you encounter a non-working fireplace during your stay, please contact our office and we will send assistance.

Great location; mud room / ski room was terrific; living area was spacious; thin wall to neighbouring unit is unfortunate because it was noisy on the main floor; cleanliness could have be much better - kitchen floor was dirty and sticky, and bedding other than bed sheets was dirty; shared hot tub was filthy; otherwise the unit was comfortable

Very nice

We stayed 2 nights and it was exactly what we wanted. The only thing that could be improved was the ridiculous charges that were stated if we forgot to do something on the checkout list. They were way out of hand. But otherwise we enjoyed it. Don’t think I would pick the same property again because of it. To worried I might miss something and be charged an extra 100.00 dollars.

I am confused about this review. The guest admits the property was "exactly what [they] wanted," but they marked it down to 3 stars because we told them we would charge them fines for rules violations. (They didn't violate the rules, we didn't charge them anything.) Any vacation rental manager has fines for rules violations- its the only way to prevent disrespectful people from violating the rules. This guest was not actually charged any fines of any kind. Our contract outlines specific rules for treatment of the property and expectations on check out, and outlines fines for breaking those rules. (These must specifically be initialed for approval before completing the booking procedure.) Those same rules and fines are posted inside the unit.  We believe posting the rules up front so they are clearly understood to be the best way to meet our dual obligation to our renters, as well as to our homeowners, who expect us to protect their home and investment. Our check out rules have good reasons for them. For example, we ask you to remove trash and food from the unit on departure because we are a mountain resort with wild bears who would rip a roll up garage door off a building to get to a trash can inside (or a car door off a Honda to get to gum inside). Failure to remove trash after your stay can lead to thousands of dollars in property damage. Similarly, a vacant unit left unheated can have burst pipes; parking and noise violations can bring police or HOA fines on the property owner, etc. All our rules have similar logic, I don't have enough space here to explain them all, but call if you're concerned. If you have any questions about the property you are considering, and if you have specific needs or expectations, we have local staff in Mammoth available 7 days/week to talk to you or answer any questions, call 866 Mammoth 9am - 8pm 365 days/year.

Chamonix 92

The property is in a great location! Can't beat the short walk to Canyon Lodge and the slopes! The living area and kitchen is spacious and comfortable with lots of personal touches and artwork. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, and dinnerware. The bed in the downstairs bedroom is a small queen and the mattress is rather soft. My husband and I prefer a firmer mattress so we did not find it comfortable. We did not use the upstairs loft space so can't speak to that. The condo was bigger than we needed for just the two of us but we would probably stay again if we had our kids with us.

We are so sorry you were inconvenienced during your stay! We always strive to make every guest stay as perfect as possible, inspecting every property twice between every departure/arrival. Our staff are human of course, and so even if we hit 95%, that still leaves some issues from time to time for guests to contend with. Mammoth Lakes is a small (4 square miles), rural town of just 7000 permanent residents. Our town receives Internet service over one of just two fibre-optic trunks and the available bandwidth to the town as a whole is based on that small population. On busy weekends (this guest traveled during spring break) we can get up to 40,000 visitors and everyone in town must share the same Internet trunk. Mammoth's rural Internet service works just like old style cable Internet- it slows down when all the neighbors use it at once. We are unable to improve Internet speeds as we are not the provider, just a customer for another company's product. We do require property owners to purchase high speed Internet with minimum speeds sufficient for streaming, but when competing with the neighbors, there is nothing we can do. If you have any questions about the property you are considering, and if you have specific needs or expectations, we have local staff in Mammoth available 7 days per week to talk to you or answer any questions. We know every property on our program and are happy to help to make sure you are booking the best property for your needs and budget. Please call us at 866 Mammoth from 9am to 6pm, 7 days per week.

Great location, tired property

If you want to ski, this condo has an excellent location -- less than 5 minute walk to the Canyon lodge and lift. The unit is a good layout and is homey with lots of art and photos. However, it seems like nothing in the condo has been changed since the late 1980s. Maintenance of systems was also an issue: The fireplace didn't work consistently, the couch was broken, and the windows didn't seal well so it was cold and drafty. The refrigerator (manufactured in 1988) seemed like it was on its last legs. I don't want to be all negative — it's a good layout for two adults or a family and a lot of the art was interesting, but for the prices they charge, it's time to replace the broken and worn furniture and equipment.

This condo is priced appropriately in our market for its size, features and condition (including the furniture). If you are looking for a high end property, we offer those as well, they are priced accordingly. Unfortunately, this guest never contacted our office to give us an opportunity to address any issues. We have 18 full time staff members in our housekeeping, maintenance and guest services departments who we can call upon to resolve problems. Lovely Stay!

We really enjoyed our time here! The condo was spacious and comfortable, check-in/check-out was easy, parking was no problem and the wifi worked well (even during a snowstorm). We also really appreciated how homey the condo felt, with the artwork and small personal touches throughout.A few things to note:- This is an end unit. The location is the furthest away from the main street, and there are only neighbors on one side. - There is a walking path that's close by the big window in the living area. The path was shoveled by a snow plow a couple of mornings around 8am, and people did walk through a few times (as intended). - The outdoor spa is right next to the unit. It's covered but open-air so we could hear people using it late at night. Nothing major at all, just something to be aware of in case you're upstairs in the loft and a super light sleeper.- The condo is easily walkable to Canyon Lodge, but it's slightly uphill on the way there (so slightly downhill on the way back - bonus after a long day). There are stairs right outside the condo that are a sort of short cut, if you don't mind climbing them with gear.- Austria Hof restaurant is also walkable - the food is great, but best to make a reservation in advance if you can since it gets crowded quickly given its proximity to the mountain.No complaints at all, we'd definitely stay here again!

Good location but very dated

The location amazing and if had been high winter season you probably couldn't beat it. Right by the lift to the mountains! It was convieniently located town and very accessible to all Mammoth has to offer, five minutes from town However, while the photos made this look 'chalet chic' in reality the place felt like hadn't been updated since they first outfitted it (in the 80's?) The bed linens were static filled polyester and the pillows were just flat bags of nothing. It made sleeping there extremely uncomfortable. It was also very dusty and cobwebby (tell your cleaners to move the couches once in a while and get the walls, ceilings and doorframes!) It was also definitely not baby friendly. I stated I had a 2 and 1 year old and I feel like they should NOT allow children of this age there. There no doors on any of the stairwells and there are a LOT of stairwells, 4 to be exact 2 with large gaps that a child could easily fall through. They provided one baby gate but it didn't fit the stairwell that led to the outside door, or the top of the stairs to the bedroom. We ended up building a barricade out of ottomans to keep the kids from escaping to the outside, lol. Also, so many glass tchotchky we had to move everything out of reach upon arrival. They did call us about six hours after we arrived as none of the wifi or tablet provided for check in were working upon arrival to walk us through fixing it.

There is no such category in our industry as "Baby Friendly" and we do not rate properties for baby friendliness, nor do we advertise any as baby friendly or not. We do not provide baby gates or cribs or other baby equipment (if one was present in the unit it is the owner's personal property, meant for whatever personal use they intended. (Although there are two rental services in town and we are happy to coordinate delivery and pick up of rental items). We do not take a role in reviewing the choices our guests make when booking, rather trusting travelers will investigate their own needs and make the best decisions for their needs. We are available pre-booking to help ensure you book the best property for you, but travelers need to be an active participant in that process. The layout of the unit, and multi-level floorpan are apparent in our ad photos as well as described in our ads, in writing. If a particular feature or amenity (such as single level) is important to you, please carefully review the entire ad and contact us pre-booking to confirm the property you are considering will meet your needs. All properties are cleaned after every stay, in addition properties receive seasonal deep cleans. This guest never called to complain about cleaning issues, but if they had we would gladly have sent a housekeeper to address their concerns. Beds are VERY personal. Some like beds more firm, some more soft. One guest will LOVE the beds, and the next might hate them. We do not get bed complaints often about any property, if we did we would encourage the owner to replace the bed or bedding. We will certainly pass this feedback on to the property owner. This condo is priced appropriately in our market for its size, features and condition (including the furniture) as well as the dates of travel. If you are looking for a high end property, we offer those as well, they are priced accordingly.
