Ironstone Cottage- Pet & Family Friendly!

Ironstone Cottage is a family and pet friendly, 3 bedroom cottage in Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. The cottage has beautiful fenced in gardens, magic views of the ocean, and abundant wildlife. Often Glossy Black Cockatoos and Wallabies visit the cottage. It’s only a short walk to the beach or into Penneshaw where you will find a lovely variety of cafes, a fantastic grocery store and lovely locals to help you with any questions.

Two bedrooms have Queen Sized beds, the third bedroom has two single beds. The house has all the modern conveniences to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. There is a reverse cycle air conditioner and heater in the main living area. The kitchen is stocked with all your tools required for cooking and there is a BBQ in the outdoor area with lovely patio furniture. All your bedroom linen and bath towels are provided.

We had an amazing stay the location was perfect!! The views were gorgeous and the kids had the best time playing in the big enclosed yard!!

A really homely property in a fabulous location with beautiful garden and amazing views from both the front and back decks. Sandy and Kevin are wonderful hosts, very responsive and quick to respond. Clean, very comfy beds, dog friendly and everything you need is right there. A real gem!

Nice house, that is both family and pet friendly with a great view! Saw a big kangaroo when we arrived and another 2 on our last morning! Lovely gardens that attract numerous little fairy wrens that were great to watch! Although the house gets very warm when you go out, there is generally a lovely breeze in the afternoon and evening to cool it down and if not, there is air-conditioning in the main dining and lounge room, as well as fans. We loved all the extras that the host Sandy supplied…juice, milk, tea bags, coffee, sugar and chocolates! For cooking there is oil, pepper, salt, spices, plus a few other things in the cupboard. Linen and towels are supplied, as well as tissues and toilet paper. The house is well set up for a wonderful stay! There is a washing machine if you need to wash and a rope line on the back porch and a clothes airer in the laundry!There are books and jigsaws to keep you occupied if the weather isn’t favourable and there is also cafes and an IGA only a few minutes away!

The place is beautiful especially the garden, felt very comfortable and homely. We took our dog who loved exploring the place and had the whole yard as the entire property was fenced. Beautiful location and loved each morning sitting on the deck looking over the beach having my coffee.

Ideal Location

Wonderful cottage with fantastic views. We had to catch an early morning ferry so the location was perfect - 2 minutes drive from the ferry terminal.

Superb cottage and surrounding

The house was gorgeous with a lovely large garden and very comfortable and clean. Sandy communicated well and made sure we had everything we needed. Loved KI and did a bit of exploring in the short time we had there. Would highly recommend.

Amazing spot.

Kangaroo island is the world’s best kept secret. It’s quiet, beautiful and such a friendly place. Ironstone Cottage was incredible accommodation and we had the best time. 2 days is definitely not enough.

Great cottage

Loved the generosity and comfort of Ironstone Cottage. Also would stay in Penneshaw rather than anywhere else. Could watch the ferry coming in and leaving. See the passenger liners anchored out the front. Can see pods of dolphins close to shore. Heartily recommend.

Lovely family holiday

We had an excellent family holiday at Ironstone cottage for 2 weeks in January. The house is bigger than it appears in photos and we loved sitting out on the deck looking at the beautiful view. Our groodle was also very happy in the fully fenced in yard. The house is walking distance from town (there are some hills and no footpath) and next to a really lovely walk in the national park. Sandy was a great host and we're keen to go back!

Ironstone Cottage

What a fantastic spot to stay; the views are incredible, it doesn't matter where you are in the home you have a amazing view. The gardens, inviting, so many flowering plants that invite birds and butterflies to linger. The home, itself is so warm and inviting, so many lovely personal touches that make you feel at home. A vase filled with flowers in the kitchen, a plate of milky way on the bench, a packet of Tim Tams in the fridge, and more.

Stunning home away from home.

The cottage sits on top of hill looking over the bay at Penneshaw Kangaroo Island. A short walk into the town and beautiful white beachside. The house is quaint, warm & welcoming. Verandahs on all sides to enjoy the sunrise or sunset. Bed was comfortable and lovely linen. The owner has included many household necessities to make your stay enjoyable. Coffee machine, teas, sugar, spices, sauces, oil for cooking and sundries. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this little getaway cottage.

Ironstone Cottage

My husband and I, with our daughter, two granddaughters, and a colleague from Greece, spent two weeks in Ironstone Cottage in January this year. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the sea from the verandahs, watched dolphins mist days, swam at Penneshaw Beach and fossicked in the local rock pools. We did not lack anything and found Sandy a wonderful host. Our dog Matey also had a great time with a lovely big garden and plenty of room to play in. We are coming back next year.

Beautiful house, felt right at home. Sandy was an amazing host and the house was spotless. The house has everthing you need and more provided. This was our second visit . Oddly felt like home walking in even after 1 year.. Thats about the best you can say for any holiday . Sandy as usual was efficient with her responses. We will likely be going "home" again in 12 months... ;-)

Charming, rustic and beautiful. There is an amazing view and a stunning, well established garden in this superbly located cottage. Great for people with dogs due to the secure fenced in garden. Thank you for a great stay Sandy.
