Went for graduation at VT. The property was clean and in a convenient location. We enjoyed our time at the house and recommend it.

Pet-Friendly Cabin “w/Dock on Claytor Lake” is a very deceptive title. While the property was VERY clean and the kitchen was well stocked, the home actually sits in the woods with a very steep walk to get a glimpse of a small, shallow arm of the lake. The home is also not for people with mobility issues. On a positive, we appreciated the great selection of movies and games! The k-cups for the Keurig were also a plus. Our time with family was quite relaxed with a feeling of “the good old days”!

Pet friendly, clean

House has a good kitchen with everything you may need. Clean, plenty of board games to entertain everyone.

Lovely home and the whole process was easy. If you are using/renting a boat for your stay, please be aware that the dock space is tight and shallow so extra care is needed to dock and exit.

Radford countryside

House was clean and in good shape. Nicely stocked and very dog friendly. Yard was steppe but terraced, with multiple seating areas.

Peaceful Getaway

Quiet getaway location near Craytor Lake - perfect for R&R. Great kitchen - and plenty of sleeping space. Internet Connectivity wasn’t good - but an opportunity to put the devices down and reconnect playing some good old fashioned board games. Would go back!

Not a pleasant stay. The lake is miles away and you have to pay park fees to enter. The listing is misleading in this regard. The outside propane BBQ grill (all surfaces) was very filthy and uncleaned from the last occupant. The propane tanks were empty and we couldn’t grill our dinner on it. The master bedroom (left) nightstand lamp didn’t work, the kitchen stove (also filthy) had a handle broken and was hanging off, the master bedroom shower floor pan had black mold growing along the entire caulk line, and the neighbor's ducks (yes ducks) quaked all night. I would not recommend staying at this location. We reached out to the rental contact POC (and owner) and heard nothing back. A small snake also came out from under one of the interior doors and visited us. Never staying there again.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. The grill should have been cleaned and stocked with propane before your arrival, and we're sorry that wasn't the case. We appreciate you flagging the stove handle so it can be addressed. Regarding the shower, what was noted is caulk discoloration rather than mold, and the nightstand lamp is operated by a wall switch, which may explain that confusion. As for the lake, access is about 400 feet away via a trail leading to a private pier and dock on the cove; walk-in beach access does exist at the state park nearby, which does charge an entry fee, but the listing itself accurately reflects the property's proximity and access, supported by photos. We want every guest to feel confident in what to expect, and we'll continue working to make sure the home is fully ready for each arrival.

Appalachian Trail Trip

Stay was okay. Disappointed no lake view or internet/wifi. Beds need upgrading. Kitchen fully stocked. Lots of steps! Quiet. Good get-away stop on our trip.

They’re not kidding about the stairs!

Had a bumpy start but the property manager and owner were amazing in resolving things asap. Everything was great after that. Way more stairs than I realized even though they warn you!

Early Spring Weekend Stay

We were in VA to celebrate our daughter's white coat ceremony at VMCVM. Most of our time was spent in Blacksburg, but we did explore Craytor Lake State Park and had dinner in Radford.This house was perfect for us. Everything we needed to make our stay comfortable was provided. The area is beautiful and quiet. The property is very pet-friendly (we were traveling with our dog). She enjoyed walking along the road and got to see cows up close and personal for the first time. The listing is accurate - there is access to the lake via a dock (down a steep set of stairs). There is also access to a lake overview via a short, easy trail.

Fun getaway weekend

We initially chose this property because it was a halfway meeting point for three couples. The accommodations exceeded expectations. The layout of the living room and kitchen provided a nice flow for all to hangout. We brought kayaks and bikes and spent time exploring the river as well as the local trails. We even brought our cat who enjoyed sitting on the porch and window sills. The only thing we wish we could change was the size of the two first floor bedrooms. A little small but not a deal breaker. Overall a wonderful little vacation home.

Misleading information. Lake access is actually 12.6 miles away, requiring 7 fee at the state park. The only access is via 82 steep steps and an ankle-breaking trail to shallow water, where a boat is necessary to reach the lake. The 20-plus stairs without a rail from the parking area require lugging all belongings, trips to the car, and walking in the area very difficult. The house was clean and comfortable. Internet would have been a plus.

Clean Accommodation and Cozy

No wifi and cell service is very spotty as one would expect. Not a criticism, just an observation. There are a good deal of steps to deal with so beware if you have mobility issues. The lake itself is a walk away, no direct views from the house. The rear deck needs some TLC.

Vacation

Very clean. Very spacious. Already had board games and stuff to do in the house! My family and I really enjoyed it. Steps to water was killer and the jacuzzi in master bathroom didn’t work. Called the owner the next day to let them know. They didn’t come fix it which was bummer. But overall it was perfect.

Not Lakefront - poor location

very small bedrooms and weird bathroom setup; additionally, not much privacy for anyone with the loft setup. outdoor deck very dirty/ unusable and the walk down and over the creek/water to the dock was VERY LONG. Felt a little misled by photos and description.Not what we had hoped for.
