Summary:

Golden Hour - Brilliant Ocean Views at this Charming Summerland Farmhouse



Experience one of the original Summerland homes, built in 1895. Golden Hour exudes Californian charm with ocean views from nearly every room.



The Space:

Although we recommend a car so you can explore Montecito and Santa Barbara, you could get away with not even needing a car during your stay as it is in an ideal location close to downtown Summerland and the beach. Being that you are only a block and half away from Lillie Avenue means that you can walk to the Summerland Winery tasting room, shop at one of the many luxury antique home stores, or enjoy a wonderful meal at one of the local restaurants.



The three bedroom and three and a half bath home boasts and open floor plan living space complete with detailed craftsmanship including rustic wood beams, hickory floors, entry nook, restored original windows, a stone covered fireplace, and shiplap wall with the deck and ocean views as the premier feature. The ample outdoor living space includes a large deck, outdoor dining table, Traeger grill, separate fire pit and in-ground jacuzzi. The primary bedroom is located on the main level with an ensuite bath. Downstairs features a media room, a bedroom with two twin-sized built in bunk beds, and a bedroom with a queen sized bed. Both bedrooms downstairs have ensuite baths and ocean views.



The yard has been beautifully manicured incorporating custom stonework, iron gates, and palms. It is said that massive redwood tree is believed to be original to the property. We hope you can enjoy the Golden Hour at dusk in this historic home.

We loved our stay in this beautiful home! It has been very thoughtfully renovated and includes so many beautiful decorative details. The layout was great for our family, with all the teenagers in the bedrooms downstairs and their own common room and tv. We spent several long afternoons all together, reading, napping, playing games, and watching movies in the upstairs great room and out on the balcony and a couple evenings roasting marshmallows by the fire pit. Proximity to town is excellent and we walked over for pizza and for brunch. The Wanderlust staff was helpful and responsive. Our only disappointment was in discovering that the beach we could walk to wasn’t one our kids could spend the day at - the sand has tar in it that covered the bottoms of our feet and was difficult to scrub off. We wound up making the short drive to Carpinteria for days on the sand. All in all though, a lovely stay!

This was a great house for our friend's weekend. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Check in and check out were hassle-free. Communications were easy as I was booking. It was accessible to ride-share services and also had a driveway to park. We would have needed a full week to fully enjoy all of the lovely social spaces in and outside of the house.

great family getaway location

We stayed in Summerland many times and have found our new favorite rental. The house has a great layout, plenty of outdoor space and a very nice view.we will be back.

The Golden Hour was a perfect place to stay for our family (4 adults and 3 kids). The bunk beds were a big hit for our little ones. Closeness (walkable distance) to downtown Summerland was also a big positive. Any questions that arose during our stay were quickly answered. The best recommendation I could give is that we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Sweet Summerland cottage

So close to the cute shopping town of Summerland. Adorable coffee shop and design stores steps from the home. We really enjoyed our stay.

Short Stay with Long Memories

We enjoyed our stay in Summerland while attending a wedding in Santa Barbara. Home was beautiful, clean, well laid out and convenient to Santa Barbara and Montecito.

Awesome Place Great View of the Ocean

We had a wonderful stay in Summerland! The property had a beautiful view of the ocean that made the whole trip feel relaxing. The space was clean, spacious and just what we were looking for. The only small downside was a lack of wash rags, but that didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed our time here. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Great Summer Beach House

This was a beautiful property, even better in person. Our family of 6 plus one infant thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong vacation! I would highly recommend the property for a get-away! My favorite feature was the lovely porch swing.

Beautiful Home

Had a wonderful time celebrating my daughters graduation from UCSB while enjoying the beautiful view. Perfect for our family BBQ & for a weekend of rest & relaxation. Highly recommend.

Great Location and Quaint Property

Loved this location. Walkable to shopping, restaurants and beach, short drive to Channel Islands National Park and Santa Barbara/Montecito. Very quaint, restored with great detail. We had a lot of rain while visiting, but the home had so many thoughtful amenities, we didn't mind being inside cooking in the well appointed kitchen and by the fire.

Excellent accommodations

Very clean home with a stunning view. The layout was perfect for my children & grandchildren. Property manager was always available to answer any questions. A perfect Thanksgiving stay. Plan to return next year.

Spacious home, beautiful decor, walking distance from Summerland’s main commercial area and the beach. Reasonably prompt communications to address issues that popped up. The house is up a hill so not ideal for walking if mobility is a challenge. Lovely ocean views and huge windows; we didn’t often open the windows due to the freeway noise and Amtrak train (around every hour?). Water supply auto-shutoff situation in the late evening but we received fairly prompt response to resolve it via messages (not live correspondence due to the late hour I assume).

1 week on the coast for Christmas for Mom, daughter and son-in-law (who is a triathlete and trained each day in the hills nearby).Location of house is near train track and Hwy 101 which is noted in listing. For a quieter location, go further up the hill.
