What a view!

My annual trip to Malibu exceeded expectations again! The house is perfect! New carpets, sheets, towels, dishes, and TV's. And a small master bath reno. The owners are always making small improvements but they are noticeable and add to the ambiance! For 1-4 people, this is a perfect spot - amazing views, quiet, near every amenity you'd need, 30 minutes to Santa Monica and 50 minutes to Santa Barbara! What more do you need?! And did I mention the views...?

Wonderful stay at the beach

We had a wonderful time staying at the beach. It was very clean and was perfect for our family of three. We loved watching the dolphins swim by and enjoyed watching the surfers as well. Amber was great to deal with and responded quickly when we had questions. No need to look further, this place is excellent!

A Big Disappointment!

I was pretty surprised when I arrived to discover that this unit is part of a multi unit structure, set back from the beach front to accommodate another apartment in front and underneath this unit. We expected from the photographs and the descriptions that we were renting a single family house. From the balcony you are overlooking the entire roof of the unit that is in front and underneath this rental unit. The real estate broker was polite, but it didn't change the fact that she misrepresented this unit in many ways. This unit is NOT a house, and NOT in Malibu ( it is in Ventura) with a huge roof obstructing the view! The photographs are NOT true to what you see in person. They used a wide angel lens AND many touch ups to make it appear larger and nicer. The unit is small and NOT suitable to sleep 6 adults. The master bedroom is not "on the water" as it says on the description. It is a small room without any closet space. The second bedroom has a closet but it's mostly filled with their linen!! Overall they have exaggerated quite a bit in describing this unit which is very unfortunate why brokers feel they need to do that. Shame! I also wished that VRBO had a way to review and approve what the brokers say about units they're renting. I have learned one lesson after this experience, and that is to read all the bad reviews first; that's where you get the truth. It is so difficult to carve out time to get away, that I wished we had picked a different unit :(

Beautiful Beach Getaway

This property is absolutely gorgeous. I took my family here for the day and everything was perfect. The property was pristinely-maintained and the owner, Amber, couldn't have been more cooperative and helpful. The private beach area was amazing! I will definitely book here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing beach getaway.

Location location location

This property is right on the beach. Any closer it would be a houseboat! Amber was very responsive and easy to work with during all phases of the visit. Property very clean and well apportioned. Would stay here again

Find peace with an oceanfront view!

Spent 10 extraordinary days on the northern end of Malibu. Having stayed here before, I knew I wanted to be "away" from the crowds. What I didn't know is how much the owners had done to the place since my last visit. New paint, decor, a new bath, and extremely comfortable sheets and towels just enhanced an already awesome place and made it even harder to leave. The home is extremely comfortable, from the dining room seating to the living area furniture to the lounge chairs on the deck to the beds in both bedrooms. In addition, the kitchen has every conceivable device, from new All Clad sauce and saute pans to a complete cooking knife block set and even an ice cream scoop! You can explore the local and updated Vintage Grocer and Malibu Seafood market for gourmet meals at home. Or you can drive to any number of restaurants a short distance away. The home is compact and efficient - a mid century jewel box! You can walk about 30 steps to the sand and wander to County Line Beach, a quiet but favorite surf spot, or just sit on the deck where the water appears so close you feel like you are on a boat at sea! Basic stuff - hot water, water pressure, washer dryer, dishwasher, TV all were updated and worked great! Plenty of parking! If you want to go to LA, it's a quick 30 minutes down one of the more beautiful drives you will experience and you will recognize certain turns from various car commercials. You can hear an occasional car passing, but generally it is more than drowned out by the waves crashing out front! And the view of the moon is otherworldly! Other local beaches and the Getty Villa are 5-10 minutes away. The Getty Museum and Santa Monica are about 30 minutes, and even Santa Barbara is only an hour or so. The house is really in an amazing spot! Last, the owners are available basically anytime and will bend over backwards to make you comfortable, including giving up their beach chair for you when you weren't even asking for one! The last time I stayed here, I said I would be back, and I was. And I will be back again!

Beautiful property and beautiful location

We could not have had a better time. From the kid’s enjoyment of the private beach to watching the sunset on the deck above to the sound of the waves as we all fell asleep in the most comfortable beds. Of course we hope to return as soon as possible.

The jewel box is quite a rare jewel

This jewel box is quite the rare jewel. I cannnot recommend this spot enough! What an amazing place! The house sits right atop the Malibu shore. The sunset, sunrise and the moon at night are views to behold. The house itself is very comfortable and has all the amenities you need. I stayed almost a week and just used the gas grill on the patio and bbq'd for lunch and dinner. During my stay, I also met the the property owner, Amber, and her lovely family. The best host you'll ever meet. I'm already planning on my second stay!

This was a dissappointing rental

This is a very small rental. The photos shown have been taken with a wide angle lens to make it look larger but it is much smaller than it looks. I'm guessing it is about 700 sf of living space. There were only three of us and we were really cramped. The fact that you are staring down at the roof of another unit from your balcony is not disclosed in the description and not clear from the photos but you are. Other rentals we looked at on VRBO disclosed this but this one did not. The master bedroom is cramped, has no closet and the bed takes up the entire room. It looks like they converted what was the closet to a half bath. There is no separate light switch for the bath so at night you either have to turn the lights on in the entire bedroom or find your way to the bath in the dark. The day we checked in there were bugs in the ice from the ice maker and hair on the shower wall. I had to request a hairdryer be brought over as there was none. The shower is a bit hard to step up and over and I am in 5'5. The washer/dryer sits out with no door next to the full bath. It just was not as nice as it looked in the photos. Definitely didn't meet our expectations.

Marvelous Malibu

Again, our Malibu beach vacation was amazing... the weather was beautiful...lots of sun, fun and high tide surf...Amber does a great job of making you feel right at home! Great food, farmers markets, walks on the beach, and oh, the dolphins were also wonderful! So fun to watch...thanks Amber for making our third stay FABULOUS!!!

Perfect!

What a game changer! Went in with a pretty high level of stress. Came out the most relaxed and at peace that I have ever been. Fully stocked, clean, and inviting! Left the sliding doors open the entire time I was there. Indescribable!! It is at the northern end of Malibu(actually in Ventura County), so more private and quiet. 7 miles to Vintage Grocery(a MUST). Stella and Amber were a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend, especially for anyone looking to renew/refresh their spirit!

Quick Family Get-Away

We had a great stay at the Jewel Box. The private beach was the best part and where we spent the better part of our two days. The house was perfect for our beach crazy family and exactly what you would expect from a beach house on the water ( very comfortable but not so fancy you worry about a little sand getting in). The view off of the patio is world class. Amber and Stella were great hosts and very easy to reach via text during our stay. We enjoyed a couple local restaurants which had a diverse set of menu items for our picky family.

Spectacular beach home with great views, amazing location and top quality relaxation!

I loved staying at this on the beach vacation home with my husband and pre-teen son. The descriptions of this property by the owner, other guests and the photos are accurate -- it a great place to lease for a vacation since it has everything you need to be relaxed and comfortable. You hear the waves and see the beach and marine life from all the floor to ceiling windows. Everything is new, clean, perfect to use and it is a quiet home for resting but perfect spot to get into Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Orange County or Malibu sites. We love hearing and seeing the ocean. We use the hammock and would have been walking on the beach or in water but rainy and 50s or low 60s often during this unexpected weather for mid-February. We loved how easy it was to get to local Starbucks (five minutes away), supermarket, restaurants, yoga, CVS, or other Malibu places. We also went to Santa Monica most days for my yoga class, shopping, lunch and visits with local friends and relatives, beach, and it was easy/close drive. We loved the vibe of the Malibu residents and store owners/workers. We thought that Amber and her assistant Stella were honest and easy to communicate with pre-booking and via cell phone or email before or during our trip if needed. We loved the bathroom tub and jacuzzi feature plus the kitchen had everything you need to cook, order in meals or just buy food at Ralphs or Malibu market for easy meals. There is a bbq on terrace off kitchen deck. We loved the bed and sofa -- very comfy. Two television sets in main bedroom and open kitchen/living room, dining room with views of ocean from that area and master bedroom. We were sad to leave and know we will be back hopefully soon. And we will have great stories, photos, memories. Also, Malibu Wine Safaris is great place to see all animals, feed them, take photos, touch them, drink wine and see gorgeous area. We also went to Zumba beach (think spelled closed to name) in Malibu to run in wave, build sand castles and hang out with gorgeous beach vibe. It is California Dreaming, Ventura Highway, LA Woman, Dani California and Malibu from Hole and Courtney Love when thinking about the home, vacation experience and gorgeous property you can rent to live like a resident for your stay.

Great House!

Loved our time at this wonderful property--we'll be back again!

What's not to like about this wonderful beach house on a private beach! The views were fantastic, the sunsets were great, and we had a fantastic time. We read all the wonderful reviews about this beach house before booking and they were spot on as was the description on the website. I can't say there wasn't one thing we didn't love about our stay here and we'll come back again. Amber and her assistant were terrific in taking care of making this all happen, and at the last minute. Looking forward to a return----

Malibu Oceanfront - Amazing, secluded property

We had such an incredible time at this oceanfront malibu rental. It was so clean and new and comfortable. The beach access was easy and my family had such an incredible time here. We extended our stay by two days! The bed was clean and comfy and I would absolutely stay here again!!

First Class!

We had the BEST time at this rental. So many rentals look old and tired but Amber's rental is first class! So clean and new and the beds.. OMG it was like sleeping on marshmallows. We always travel with our own pillows but need not have for this rental! Ridiculously comfortable lulled to sleep by waves and good shades so you don't wake up early. We had s'mores on the beach and bbqs on the patio. My 3 kids and I could not have been more welcomed. Hate to give this great review , in case it's always booked... because we will be back for sure. BEST Malibu experience you could ask for. Thank you Amber!

Magical!!!!

We had the perfect V-Day beach vacation right on the sand! Amber was a joy and wanted to be sure our stay was perfect- and it was! Great kitchen- fully stocked, sound of waves, ocean breezes, private deck, sunsets- but our favorite was the hammock on the beach. Magical weekend!!!! Can't wait to go back!

Great private beach getaway!

Our stay was super fun, relaxing, and beat all our expectations! The home is clean and equipped with the essentials of a 5 star resort. Amber and Kyle are great home managers!! They made sure all our needs were met (Amber even had the linens cleaned to accommodate my allergies). We loved the private access to the beach, watching the sea lions from the hammock, walking the quiet small beach front, swimming and playing in the ocean. The sunsets, views from the deck of the ocean and the surrounding mountains were beautiful. The deck was especially nice to lounge and read on or just stargaze at night. We also loved the soothing sound of the crashing waves... We highly recommend staying in this remote beach home. We will be back!!
