TIMBA: Luxury bush rtreet with pool and spa
Switch off and reconnect with nature at this unforgettable off-grid escape by rtreet. A 100+ acre four-bedroom luxury bush retreat catered to lovers of art, design and the environment. Marvel in all the grandeur of the Fleurieu Peninsula with stunning panoramic views of rolling hills, vineyards and beyond out to the horizon where the sun meets the sea.
The space
Designed to feel as though you are nestled amongst the trees, the main house perfectly maximises the northern aspect by inviting the sun and sweeping views inward through windows that run the entire length of the house and wrap around the top deck. A bush retreat if there ever was one, TIMBA offers seamless indoor-outdoor living, so no matter what the weather is doing, guests can find somewhere comfortable and serene to refresh and reset while taking in the captivating views.
The design of the house lends itself to focus on living spaces, as we believe that’s where a home embraces its heart. There has been extensive thought and care taken to create nooks within these spaces so that one can escape and take a moment of solitude to engage with mother nature in a way that speaks to them.
TIMBA offers four king-sized bedrooms, all with central heating and cooling, ceiling fans, and blackout blinds. The main house has three bedrooms, including the oversized master with an ensuite and bathtub looking out to the bush. The other two guest rooms share a bathroom. Located only 10 metres from the main house, across the native courtyard garden, is our studio room, which has its own ensuite.
The large, open-plan kitchen features a double oven, a gas cooktop, and an original wood stove (one of two fireplaces in the house) for all your cooking pleasures. The walk-in pantry offers guests basic essentials and a few local goodies to whip up a quick meal and avoid the chore that is leaving this sanctuary. With views out over the rolling hills toward the gorge, cooking in this kitchen is a delight.
We have multiple dining options for guests, including an outdoor table on the top deck, as well as another in our courtyard garden, which is always protected from the winds. One must not forget the necessary antique farmhouse dining table, which stands proud in the middle of the spectacular sunroom, a most magical place to eat and enjoy the views out over the vines and the ocean beyond.
The bottom deck area offers guests exclusive use of our freshwater swimming pool (heated from Nov-Apr) and a Japanese-style cedar hot tub, which is heated year-round. The pool area also has a wet bar with a fridge and a change room with a toilet, so you never have to leave.
No matter what you’re looking for TIMBA can provide whatever you need, whether it's a restorative time of solitude and regeneration or a base to explore the surrounding region.
Guest access
All rtreet properties have been designed so guests are able to walk in and have everything they need to enjoy the house to its full potential, except perishables, of course! Don't forget food.
While we have a house manager a call away should you need anything, we offer guests a simple self-check-in process and a comprehensive house guide.
The property is all yours to enjoy, with over 120 acres of enchanted lands to explore.
Guests are encouraged to engage with the wilderness on offer here. Marvel as we do at the magnificent old gums scattered on the property as they stand, relics of a different time, a striking reminder of how small we are. Walk through the native forest to the east; evidence of a decades-long revegetation project undertaken on formerly cleared pasture to restore eco-habitats for our native friends, specifically our beloved Koalas. If you’re feeling romantic, put on your walking shoes, take a bottle of wine, and begin the expedition to the crest of the northern hills, a most magical spot to experience the sunset as panoramic views of the majestic Fleurieu Peninsula hug you tightly from all sides.
There’s so much to see... if you wish. Otherwise, sit back, relax, and look on in awe as you take in the view from the comforts of your home. There are no rules here on how to engage with nature; simply surrendering and being here is enough.
Also available to guests are a range of in-house services that you can book directly via our authorised and meticulously selected partners, curated so you can truly make the most of your experience at TIMBA. These services include massage, yoga, a private chef, and native garden tours.
We here at rtreet pride ourselves on inclusivity and cultivating a sense of community amongst those that choose to stay with us. We welcome all who wish to experience the beauty and serenity of this magical place. The only prerequisite we ask of you is respect for the home we share with you as well as the home native animals that so gracefully share with us.
Treat this place as you would your own, as while you’re here, it’s yours.
*Guests have exclusive use of the pool and spa.*
Other things to note
Please note there is no mains water at the farm! We rely on our rainwater. South Australia’s climate can be unpredictable and harsh, so please treat our water with respect, take care, and use it responsibly.
Children are permitted however not recommended, but please note we do not provide cots, high chairs, or any other amenities specifically for babies or young children. So, whatever you need, please bring it with you! The house is not baby proofed, but we trust the parents' judgement regarding this.
The house strictly accommodates a maximum of eight people, and only guests are allowed on the property.
Feel free to explore the gardens and use the seasonal veggie patch and herb garden as you require for all your cooking needs. It’s there for you, purposefully!
