The House of Tropical Dreams is investing in the future of Troncones and the planet. Our electricity is now carbon-neutral with 26 grid-connected, solar electric panels installed. We collect rainwater for household use and installed low-flow toilets to reduce impact on valuable water resources.

Enjoy a private vacation destination designed for families or friends who enjoy exclusive use of a house with a beachfront pool while knowing you are considering the environment too. Green lawns are lovely to look at, but consume volumes of precious water and typically require both harmful pesticides and fertilizers. We prefer low-demand potted plants and hardy local in-ground plantings.

Located on 1/3 acre of beachfront property, Tropical Dreams provides over 4,000 square feet of combined indoor-outdoor living space. The two large bedrooms each have one king-size bed and large bathrooms. Eleven and one-half foot ceilings throughout emphasize the indoor space. It is ideal for a family, two couples, or a couple wanting a truly private vacation. A full-sized Murphy bed finished with parota hardwood is tastefully located in the living room.

Local tiendas, a weekly vegetable market in Troncones, and regular visits by a produce truck supply your needs so you can start your day with freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, tea and fresh fruit all from your private kitchen. Some guests enjoy breakfast while watching the sun rise over the Sierra Madre foothills from the off-kitchen deck while others prefer watching the waves come in.

Soon your maid will arrive to clean up, make your beds, keep the floors clean and generally maintain order. Don't worry; she won't interfere with your privacy and will be gone in a few hours. The groundskeeper will maintain the property four times a week and be gone by mid-afternoon as well.

Prepare for the day in one of our two over-sized bathrooms, each with toilet, shower, and twin sinks in seven-foot counters.

Shade lovers appreciate over 1,000 square feet on three lower level decks and the upper deck.

Sun warms over half of the 1,000 square foot upper deck with the rest of it shaded. Another 1,000 square feet of deck surrounds the 13 by 26 foot pool. Shade and sun lovers alike cool off using the poolside shower.

Entering the property, guests pass hibiscus, bougainvillea, Ixora Reina, night jasmine, banana plants and other tropical vegetation.

Feel free to email gloating photos to your friends using the included Wi-Fi or even phone them with no charge calling within Mexico and to 48 US states and 10 Canadian provinces.

As evening comes, visit one of the local restaurants or prepare your dinner using local ingredients in the kitchen. To keep the property carbon-neutral, we now feature an “instant heat” induction electric range. Enjoy your meal al fresco at the large parota wood dining table.

Day or night, relax in the living room, cooled by fresh air through large windows and double doors with air circulated by ceiling fans in every room.

As darkness falls, enjoy conversation in the warm night lighted by the unobstructed view of stars and moon on the upper deck.

At night, retire to your king size bed in either bedroom. Enjoy the fresh air through a large open window and circulated by a ceiling fan or opt for even cooler air conditioning. Each bedroom has air conditioning available from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Or sleep on the Murphy bed in the airy living room.

Relaxation is key in Troncones, but active vacationers will find plenty to do in Troncones. The beach (playa) starts a dozen steps from your private pool. Take the beach walk south to the Playa Manzanillo that is popular with visitors. Or take the brief walk north to the long and sandy Playa Majahua, more popular with local residents.

Beach walks can include dramatic lava rock, sandy beaches, shell beaches, and large swimming pool sized tidal pools formed in volcanic rock where you can watch surfers enjoying the left break off of Punta Troncones.

Join the surfers by renting a board in Troncones or maybe opt for a daily or weekly bicycle rental or enjoy a horseback ride along the beach.

Playa Troncones, a four kilometer beach, starts just south of Punta Troncones, ending at the far end of "downtown" Troncones, . A long, unprotected beach, waves on Playa Troncones are generally much larger than at Playa Manzanillo. This can make for good surfing but even strong swimmers are cautioned.

Bring your fishing gear and join the locals for shore fishing, or charter a boat with fishing gear in the village of Majahua, a few hundred meters from the house, for some inshore fishing. For more excitement try an off-shore fishing charter from Zihuatanejo or challenging golfing in Ixtapa. If you rented a car, consider a day trip to the archeological site at La Soledad de Maciel (La Chole), the gold market at Petatlan, or the full day trip to Patzcuaro.

But always return to Tropical Dreams to enjoy the property.
