We had an amazing week at Deer Bay Hideaway. The cottage was clean and well appointed. The property was beautiful and well kept. Facing east across the lake made for the most amazing sunrises, and the quiet forest road was great for walking and wildlife. I brought my own boat along, and launched it at nearby Bay View Resort, and had a wonderful time exploring Deer Bay. I definitely recommend this cottage, and hope to return soon.

We had a wonderful and quiet getaway! Very clean and comfortable! I caught a 15” large mouthed bass off of the dock! And yes I released it back into the bay for the next angler to experience and enjoy! Thank you to Charmaine and Garry for a wonderful week!

Great stay

Enjoyed our stay at Deer Bay Hideaway. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Good selection of activities for inside (games, puzzles, movies) and outside (kayaks, paddle boat, swimming). The hosts were readily available to contact with any questions.

Deer Bay

Quiet lake, lovely cottage and dock, with access to kayaks, canoes and paddle boat. Close to town for groceries. Exactly what we wanted for our relaxing week away.

Great cottage

Cottage is situated in a good location with lakefront view. Really nice place for fishing and water sports with couple towns close by to venture to. Overall experience was great including communication with our host Charmaine.

Deer Bay Hideaway

Clean, comfortable and rustic (in a good way!). Kayak, paddle boat and fishing boat were great for every day water adventures. Hosts/Listing provided all the details required to plan our stay. Thanks for sharing your cottage.

Perfect weekend getaway!

We were looking for a nice place to head up north for thanksgiving weekend… the location was great, cute lake, beautiful and very clean well maintained cottage with all the cooking supplies we needed to make meals and bake a cake! Lots of nice options close by if you want to treat yourself for a night out in town. The hosts were very accommodating for early check ins, late check outs, make sure we were comfortable etc. highly recommended!!

My husband and I went up for Thanksgiving weekend with our french bulldog. Beautiful Wooden Cabin on the Water! I absolutely loved my stay here! The cabin is stunning beautifully made from wood, spacious, and spotless clean. It’s right on the water, which makes it so peaceful and relaxing. There’s plenty of room to move around and enjoy the space, whether you’re inside or out by the water. The neighbours were also super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a relaxing and comfortable getaway! We are a big fishing family and I have to say if you’re looking for a good fishing spot! Book away!

Awesome Getaway

Loved the place, it was exactly like we pictured it to be, lots of plates and cutlery and cooking tools ready to go! It was super conveniently located, went to Sandy Beach not far away, and the kids jumped in off the dock a few times. It was awesome to take the boats out and do a little fishing! Honestly, a really fun and relaxing few days just a short ways away. Thank you so much, Charmaine!! We'll be back next year!!

I was lucky enough to have two weeks at Deer Bay Hideaway. Having spent all my childhood summers on this lake, it felt like a homecoming and was able to share the same experience with local family who also came out for visits. The cottage has a great aesthetic, with lots of space for our needs, and is comfy and relaxing. (Hint: dock coffee in the morning and shady hammock in the afternoon)The kitchen was well stocked with all the things you’d need; like dishes, cookware, coffee, etc…The use of the watercraft is awesome for local exploration, and the boat and motor was great for getting out fishing throughout the lake! We were able to have a fish fry dinner for the family as a result of the great fishing!Host’s Charmaine and Gary were responsive and helpful with any of my questions and even suggested local family friendly events as well. Definitely a great place to stay and a recharge of my soul. Highly recommended!Murray Vancouver July 4-18, 2025

Lovely Getaway, Don't think twice!

Absolutely delighted with our stay at this charming cottage! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the place was just as picturesque as it appeared online. Every corner of the cottage exuded coziness, and it truly felt like a home away from home. What truly stood out was how well-stocked the cottage was. It's as if the hosts had a checklist of everything you could ever need for a comfortable stay, and they nailed it. From kitchen essentials to cozy blankets and even those little extra touches that make a difference, they've got it all covered. And let's talk about location – perfection. Just a short 10-minute drive to a quaint little town that had everything we could possibly need. It's nice to know that grabbing that last-minute item wasn't a hassle at all. But the highlight of our stay? Without a doubt, it was the water. We practically lived by the water's edge. Our wildlife encounters were like something out of a dream – loons gliding gracefully, kingfishers darting by, hawks soaring above, ducks making a splash, falcons commanding the sky, water snakes slithering, Canadian geese in their signature formation, fish darting beneath the surface, and to top it off – an otter, just before we left. We reluctantly packed our bags to leave, but there's good news – we're already counting down the days until next year's getaway. This cottage has given us memories to treasure, and we're already itching to create more. Until then, thank you for an unforgettable stay!

Excellent location & cozy cottage

Pros: - location location location! (cottage is right on a quiet & beautiful lake). Pictures are accurate. - well stocked & decorated (very cozy). If you forget to bring something, chances are, you can find it inside the cottage (kitchen items, bug spray etc.) - check-in instructions are clear & everything was easy to find - kayaks, paddleboat, canoe & life jackets available for use - BBQ for use Cons: - No recycling bin on site, which is not disclosed in the listing. We had to bring our recycling home, which was inconvenient. I've booked cottages before and this is the first place I've stayed where there was no recycling bin & you cannot dispose of recyclables in the garbage (or risk a fine). The lack of recycling bin was not communicated in the listing. It felt like a slap in the face when we were checked out and driving away and saw many of the neighbours with their full recycling bins out & ready for collection while we had our recyclables with us in our car. I get that different municipalities have different recycling rules but should consider offering renters a recycling bin if the municipality collects recyclables. - Not the most pet friendly. We had to pay the dog fee ($75) for our 4lb 4month old kitten. - There was a constant damp smell in the cottage during our 5 day stay. Granted, it is an older cottage situated close to a lake so that's sort of expected I suppose.

Hi Michelle, thank-you for your review. Our garbage and recycling instructions were sent out to you before you're vacation, plus this information is accessible under amenities in our listing. We cannot provide recycling to our guests because of the strict guidelines and also the risk of bears coming. We do provide the dump pass for our guests where you can bring your recycling to at no charge. As far as the pet fee is concerned, we usually only allow dogs at our place and we did make a last minute exception for you to bring your kitten with you, and hence we would charge this pet fee for any pet. As far as the dampness is concerned we are near the water, we do however provide a dehumidifier to take care of this. We had great communication between us and we do wish you had brought your concerns up to us during your stay, as we would have liked the opportunity to resolve this for you and make you happy.

Overall a great cottage rental, the location is ideal, the cottage was clean with all the amenities you would hope for in a cottage rental. Would definitely consider going back again next year.
