Serene, Spacious Waterfront Cottage in Kawartha Lakes w. Hot Tub. Pet-Friendly!

Winter in Buckhorn is just as much fun with access to snowmobile trails, cross country skiing, snowshoe trails and ice fishing a short distance away, with endless possibilities in the crisp winter air!

This 5000 sq. ft cottage has 6 bedrooms and sleeps 14 people. The maximum is 12 adults & 2 children. The master ensuite is on the very private side of the cottage and has a separate staircase to enter. It has a queen bed and two single beds in its own living room. The other five bedrooms have queen beds with lake or woods views.

Other spaces inside the cottage include the living room, a sitting room, a bar/game area, a dining room and a large kitchen on the first floor and an open living space on the second floor.

You can enjoy the beautiful lake views from outdoor porch , lakefront dock, sun room, read in the cozy living room, soak and relax in the cozy hot tub or light a campfire, roast marshmallows by the fire pit in the expansive backyard and enjoy all kinds of activities in all seasons.

The cottage is 10-20 mins drive to many sightseeing places and activities:

1. A visit to Kawartha Nordic Ski Club belongs on every skier’s must-do list
2. The Buckhorn District Snowmobile Club has one of the finest trail systems you will ever ride

The kitchen was well set up especially for a large family group as ours. I would like to see a teapot added as wall as one or two extra salad bowls. Otherwise excellent.

Great check in. Very spacious and comfortable. Beds were all great. Kitchen was great. Covered patio was amazing. Waterfront was nice but if you are bringing a boat it can be an issue with the rocks. Fire pit was great.

Kitchen was good, well equipped. I personally don't use the hot tube, but the kids liked it. Unfortunate the gas fireplace was not working, would have been nice on a cool fall night. Comfortable and lots of room for 10 people. Kids had lots of fun fishing off the dock for small perch. Outdoor fire pit was also great and firewood was supplied.

We were 10 adults and 4 kids, stayed for a week, and had a great time despite the heat warnings. Besides fun in the water everything inside the cottage worked well from the kitchen to the air conditioning. Host Vivian quickly supplied more of everything we needed from fans to glasses.

Buckhorn Family Weekend

A wonderful property with lots of space indoors and endless activities outdoors. Three generations of our family came together for a wonderful weekend at the lake. Outstanding in every aspect, we made memories that will last a lifetime. Our hosts, Vivian and Bill made sure everything was ready for visit, from a carefree check-in to great communication throughout. Highly recommend and hope we can visit again

Beautiful property and very helpful host!

We were a group of 12 and there was plenty of room for all of us to sleep comfortably. The host was very responsive and helpful with the check in process and all questions we had. The property is gorgeous and has incredible views. Would definitely stay again!

NICE STAY

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely, clean cottage! Everything was perfectly prepared for our arrival, and the communication with the host was seamless and very accommodating. The location is unbeatable, situated directly on the lake, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The cottage is also well-equipped with entertainment options for kids, both indoors and outdoors, which kept them happily engaged throughout our stay. We highly recommend this place for a relaxing family getaway.

Vivian’s place was very nice interesting property fairly clean, well stocked, rooms were spacious the view is to die for. We were there for a family reunion and there was lots of space.Only issues to be aware of TV & Fire place was not working, two sets of very steep stairs no bedrooms on main level so difficult for elderly to climb the steep stairs. Also the huge rock formation infront of the take and dock made it difficult to walk down to the lake. Also the lake didn’t look like you could swim.Hot tub in the sun room was nice!We had a great time thank you again!!! Lots of memories to cherish!!

Meets All Expectations

Lovely, spacious and clean: this property was all we hoped for. So often when one rents a property that boasts a pool table, foozball, hot tub, air conditioning, etc. something is broken or not as advertised. Happy to report that everything worked and was sometimes better than expected!

We really enjoyed our weekend together there

The property is absolutely gorgeous! We canoed and hung out by the fire pit. So lovely in the Fall. Very spacious inside. Lots of indoor activities as well. The kitchen should have been cleaner, but the upstairs was very clean. We didn’t find the jacuzzi very clean so we didn’t use it.

My family and i had a wonderful time staying at Vivian and Bill's property. The cottage is very large and allowed 7 adults, two teens, 4 children 7 and under and two small dogs to share the space very comfortably. No one ever felt like they were "on top" on one another and everyonenalways had a place to just relax quietly if that isbwhat they wanted. (And with the four kids, it was NOT always quiet lol). The dock was perfect for fishing, which we did every day and caught tons of fish (baby ones, and a few the size of our hands but that was perfect for the kids). The water trampoline was also a big hit as was the indoor hot tub. Communication with Vivian was incredible as was check in and check out. My cousins from Trinidad who were experiencing cottage life for the first time said they didn't want to leave. Thank you, Vivian and Bill, for a wonderful stay. We had such a great time and would love to come back sometime in the future.

A Perfect Getaway – Thank You Vivian & Bill!We had such a wonderful stay at Vivian and Bill’s cottage! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and relaex. The home was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a relaxing and fun stay.Vivian and Bill were exceptional hosts—friendly, thoughtful, and always quick to respond if we had any questions. They’ve truly created a little lakeside paradise.One of the absolute highlights was spending time out on the water. We took full advantage of the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboards, and spent hours gliding across the calm, clear lake. The weather was perfect—warm and sunny—and the peacefulness of the lake made it feel like we had our own private sanctuary. Whether we were paddling around or just floating and soaking in the quiet, it was incredibly relaxing.Back at the house, we loved using the barbecue for evening meals and ending the day with a soak in the hot tub under the stars.The peaceful setting, combined with the warm hospitality, made this one of our favorite stays to date. We’d absolutely love to come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing escape. Thank you again, Vivian and Bill!

Buckhorn getaway

This cottage was the perfect size for accommodating our large family (11 people) gathering. Cottage is well equipped overall with loads of space and many amenities, including a pool table and magnetic dartboard. Canoe, SUP, inflatables with lots of life jackets for water activities off the long dock. We spent a lot of time on that dock enjoying the waterfront and views. Good fishing off the dock for the little ones. Good fishing for the angler a short paddle away. Kitchen is well equipped and bathrooms had lots of towels. Dog friendly too! Property itself is very unique and close to town. Getting supplies is easy, including great pizza and ice cream in town by the locks. The only quibble is that the cottage wasn't quite as clean as we'd hoped for when we arrived. But that did not deter the fun and enjoyment we had. The hosts are very responsive and helpful, and the check-in is easy and straightforward. Overall, a highly recommended property!

Unique Cottage

Cottage was fun to stay at, relatively easy to find and a good size space for the amount of people we had. It has what I would call a unique floorplan, including a second staircase to a bedroom/annex and a 2nd floor doorway to nowhere, but it added a bit of character. Some minor issues around it, there was still some work going on to renovate/upgrade some spaces but wasn't anything major. The stovetop and oven can't be on at the same time, which made some cooking a challenge, so a minor issue for the hosts to look at in the future. Water access was a definite plus, as was the outdoor fire pit. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and everything was in working order. Cottage could use a bit more finishing touches, but was a great experience overall. Hosts were very communicative and responded to all questions immediately, provided suggestions of local things to do and were very pleasant to deal with at all times. Overall, a good place to stay, we had a fun time!
