The Space:

Set in an elevated position in Ostend with views across Palm Beach, Calypso is a light filled, multi level home with room for everyone to settle in and enjoy the island at their own pace. The upper level forms the main gathering space, with open plan living, dining, and a modern kitchen that opens onto wide decks facing the sea. This is a relaxed spot for breakfast in the sun, reading outdoors, or shared dinners as the light softens.



Two bedrooms are located on this level, including one with an ensuite, along with an additional guest toilet.



Downstairs, a second living and dining area provides extra space for families or groups wanting to spread out. Three further bedrooms are located on this level, including a second ensuite, along with the main bathroom. Doors open directly to the pool and Nordic hot tub area, surrounded by outdoor seating for long afternoons in the sun or quiet evenings outside.



The home is well set up for families, with a highchair, cot, baby gate, and baby bath available. Pool heating can be arranged on request for an additional fee of $150 in winter and $100 during other seasons.

Guest Access:

Check-in is from 2:00pm and check-out is 10:30am. Early check-in or late check-out may be available for an additional fee depending on same-day bookings. Guests have full access to the home, pool, Nordic hot tub, decks, and off-street parking via the private driveway.



The Neighborhood:

Calypso sits in Ostend in an elevated position overlooking Palm Beach. This central part of the island makes it easy to move between beaches, cafés, vineyards, and village hubs without long drive times. Palm Beach is around a ten minute walk via the garden track and is popular for swimming, relaxed beach days, and long shoreline walks.



Ostend is close by and works as a practical local centre, with supermarkets, casual eateries, and the popular Saturday market. For breakfast or coffee, Island Coffee on Belgium Street and The Carpark Café in Ostend are both nearby. Lunch options include Arcadia at Palm Beach or Take A Bite Café in Ostend.



For dinner, Oneroa Village is a short drive away and offers a wider range of dining options including Wai Kitchen and Fenice. Several well known vineyards are also within easy reach, including Tantalus Estate, Stonyridge, and Wild on Waiheke, all well suited to tastings and long lunches. For something more casual, The Heke is a local favourite for wood fired dishes, craft beer, and a lively garden bar.



Getting Around:

Getting around from Calypso is straightforward. The Matiatia passenger ferry terminal is around a ten minute drive. The local bus network provides easy access across the island, with the nearest bus stop a short walk away and services running through Ostend, Palm Beach, Oneroa, and on to the ferry. Buses also stop near many of the island’s main vineyards including Tantalus, Stonyridge, Wild on Waiheke, and The Heke.



Taxis, hire cars, and e bikes are available on the island, and there is ample off street parking available at the property.



Other Things to Note:

Waiheke relies entirely on rainwater tanks. To support sustainable living and protect local supply, especially during the drier summer months, we ask guests to be mindful of their water use during their stay.

Interaction with Guests:

Our Stay Waiheke team is available seven days a week from 8.30 am to 5 pm for general queries. For life threatening emergencies such as fire, police, or ambulance, guests must call 111 immediately. For urgent after hours issues, an emergency number is provided in the arrival instructions.
