Host was incredibly kind and welcoming, made sure we had everything we needed. He had the homestead nice and toasty after we had a nasty blizzard to get there, and also made sure we were plowed out immediately. Really unique property! Stayed for snowmobiling, not far from trail. Great parking for multiple trailers. Cool rec/bar room to hang out in. Big place too, super great for a group. Pretty looking property snow-covered, would love to check out in the summer! Would love to know history of this place!

Family time!

This is a great place to have extended family stay and explore the Keweenaw area! Lots of bedrooms and the game room/old bar were a bonus! There was a glitch at the beginning of our stay but the host was very responsive and everything was able to be worked out! Will definitely keep this as our first choice when we return for another visit!

We enjoyed all the space and unique addition of the bar. Itā€™s certainly a one of a kind property! The location was great. Outdoor area was nice. Host was slow to respond. Cleanliness was okay but sink was full of dirty water and there was a lot of dust on furniture upon arrival. Bathtub was difficult to maneuver, mouse traps in easily accessible spaces, and other safety concerns included plugged in tools that were easy for children to reach and use as well as sharp fire pit tools haphazardly rested on chair, poking out. Beds were not comfortable, with older box spring mattresses that are quite squeaky. Overall, it was a very fun place but could benefit from some bedding upgrades, deep cleaning, and safety measures.

Great property not far from town and close to the beach. Plenty of room for our large family. The house was well stocked with essentials. A bit hard to get a hold of the owner when we had questions but I would 100% stay again!

Perfect location

We could feel the natural air conditioning from Lake Superior as it was visible from the road. This house has an outdoor sauna that we enjoyed and 5 bedrooms with AC in each room

Very spacious and clean. We enjoyed our evenings playing ping pong and cards at the tables in the bar. The ceilings were a bit low and my tall friend hit his head on a beam. The shower spaces could have been a little more roomy but they sufficed. Overall, we had a good stay.

This is a large house that easily accommodates a large family which was perfect for our sonā€™s graduation weekend. The beds were very comfortable and the inside of the house was clean, The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to make a nice dinner to celebrate after his graduation. The property itself was quite muddy due to the spring thaw, but its location near Lake Superior was nice to be able to drive down to the waterworks park for sunset viewing. There is a recreation type room in half of the house that looks like it was a former bar/restaurant that seemed to have interesting history but was unheated and we did not end up using it. We wouldā€™ve liked to have known more about it. Overall this space worked well for our group.

Everything was fine but the upstairs shower

The property is very nice, well located. It was raining when we arrived and there was no sidewalk to the front door, so it was a little muddy. Best to come in the back door where there is a sidewalk, but the keys don't open the back door, so you have to walk through the house. The only real issue is the upstairs shower. The bottom of the tub is not flat and the mat does not help, it just gets squished into the middle. The downstairs shower is fine. We all had a good time.

Great house. Exactly what was stated. Nice and clean. Only negative was we could not find an easy way to get on the side x side trails without going down the pavement and about 14 miles.

We found the house very nice, clean and most important spacious. The entertainment room is larger and a great family bonding opportunity. My kids enjoyed fishing in the pond in the backyard. Itā€™s so close to the beach. We enjoyed the pasty festival that went on the same weekend of our stay. Overall, we had a great stay.

Quiet retreat

We are doing the Lake Superior Circle tour and were looking for a good base from which to explore Keweenaw Peninsula and to rest. This place was perfect.. close to everything and very quiet. We also had our dogs with us so grateful to find a dog-friendly place. There was more space than we needed, but the price was very reasonable!

Just what we needed

This Calumet Cottage was just what we needed-a centrally located place to stay so that we could make day trips to explore the Keweenaw Peninsula. It was clean and supplied what we needed for our 5 night stay. The beds were comfortable and it was nice that each bedroom had its own window AC unit to meet everyoneā€™s temperature desires.

Would definitely stay again

Overall a really good property at a reasonable price. With a few improvements this place would have five stars but the would not let that deter me from another stay. Plenty of room, clean house with everything you need to feel at home. My only recommendation is to get some actual bed pillows instead of the decorative ones that are on the beds.

Festival and snow

Great location for snowmobiling and Michigan Tech visit. House has its little quirks like no cell service but nothing that would prevent us from coming back. Plenty of room for everyone. Complimentary supplies were provided and it was appreciated so you donā€™t need to bring everything. No issues during stay.
