Vacation Haven Pentwater Lake Cottage

Welcome to our Pentwater Lake Cottage! You will be renting the whole cottage. Upper unit has two bedrooms, full bath, kitchen, and your very own 600-square foot deck. Lower unit has one large bedroom, full bath with washer and dryer, kitchen and large lower deck over Pentwater Lake.
Upper: One bedroom has a queen size bed, one bedroom has two beds and a sleeper couch in the living room. Comfortable sleeps 5. Lower: bedroom has queen bed, trundle(2 twins). Living room has sleeper couch. Also sleeps 5. All bed linens are provided.
We love Pentwater for its unique shops, tasty eateries, and miles of Lake Michigan beaches. Our cottage is just a short bike ride to town, but it's just far enough away where you could peacefully enjoy your cup of coffee on your own private decks overlooking gorgeous Pentwater Lake.

After years of enjoying summer days in Pentwater, we decided to invest in a Vacation Haven Cottage in this quaint beach town. Our cottage, both top and lower units have their own private decks, so you could relax and enjoy the magnificent view of Pentwater Lake while sitting back and breathing in the fresh lake air.

It doesn't matter if you want to hit the town for some excellent food, unique shops, walk the beach or just simply relax on the massive deck, we are sure you will enjoy your stay and fall in love with this little piece of paradise as we did.

We provide free WIFI, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, toaster, bath towels and bed linens.

Outdoor chairs are on the deck along with a small table.

We do also have 2 kayaks, come with rental.

Family time

Great space for a family reunion. We enjoyed the decks for entertaining and the use of the two kitchens. It is close to town and nice to also be on the water.

Ying was amazing! Quick to respond and easy to work with. We had a fantastic time fishing, swimming, sight seeing, and the view! Absolutely would recommend this house! Thank you for all the memories! Otters live in the water, an eagle lives in the trees across the street, fishing off the dock! Kayaking was so fun!

Pictures are very deceiving. Property was unkept inside and out. Outside area was weedy and unpleasant. Access to lake from property was a wooden plank from a small embankment into a weedy, rocky and very wet area. Very unsafe for access and carrying any type of water items; kayak, water board, floats... There should have been a proper dock or decking built for customer safety and convenience. Law suite waiting to happen. House was dirty. Bugs on walls, webs and bugs on interior window sills, bathrooms in desperate need of remodeling, kitchen as well, air conditioning was not guest friendly at all (window air conditioners in bedrooms at head of beds), decking in need of reconditioning badly (picture of decking is very very deceiving), furniture needed cleaning. Honestly, it looked like the owner has done nothing upon purchase. The stairway to the upper accommodation had exposed nail ends that could potentially puncture a hand if not using railing or carful. Upper level accommodation shelving in bathroom had dislocated shelves on floor, shower dripped, mildew, accumulated dust in vent fan, no toiletries. The only thing going for this place is its right on the lake and a few minutes drive from downtown shopping. We were not aware there were two separate apartment type accommodations (upper and lower). Accommodations were extremely disappointing. Do not recommend. We would not rent again.

Kevin, I am sorry your three day experience was unpleasant. Unfortunately, out of our control the water level has been low since we had installed the permanent dock to use for the kayaks. We spray for bugs and have multiple Zevos in the room to get as many bugs as possible. Due to the fact we are on the lake, there is only so much we could control. Not knowing how much we have invested in the past few years to update an almost 100 year old cottage, it’s so easy to make assumptions. As far as the cleaning part, we do have a new cleaning lady this year and I will have to revisit some areas with her. We are not some investment firm who buy up these places just to rent out for pure profit. We are just a couple who used our hard earned money to buy something we would love to retire one day at. We have taken everything from the rentals to update our cottage, from new deck, steel seawall, new flooring on both levels, new boiler … We appreciate you renting our cottage and it would have been nice you could have reached out directly to address your concerns vs making it like we are trying to rent out our “dump”! It amazes me how one group from one week who had the best time, to the next week with someone who thinks everything sucks.

Great deck and view, clean units with easy check in and check out.Bottom unit refrigerator leaked constantly from the top freezer into the lower refrigeratorand the jet pump is noisy making it difficult to get a good nights sleep in the lower.Road noise doesn't help either.

I had no idea about the refrigerator. It has not been an issue with previous guests at all. I will look into it and fix the problem.

Great vacation house.

Ying was great. Very responsive. Very scenic. My son fished off the pier every day. 20 minutes from the Silver Lake sand dunes.

Great little lake house :)

It was perfect for my kids and I! Close to town and the beach and a beautiful view of the lake! A full kitchen so I was able to cook most our meals. The owner was very good about texting me what I needed to know or if I had a question she was quick to respond. Overall a great experience. Would definitely stay again!

Great Lakeside Cottage

This cottage is located directly on Pentwater Lake. It was clean and comfortable and i especially enjoyed the fresh breeze coming through windows from lake. Smaller size but setup so it can easily sleep 6. Near Pentwater shopping and a short drive to the beach and sand dunes. I would stay again.

Great weekend getaway

We loved our time at Pentwater Lake! The location right on the water was just what we were looking for. Mornings and evenings on the large deck were perfect. We were so close to town, Lake Michigan, and other small towns like Ludington and Shelby. The host is extremely responsive. Would definitely go again. Thank you!

Water View Amazing

This was perfect for the two of us. It was nice to be on the water and be able to watch the action on the lake. A bit of shade on the deck would have been great as it is VERY sunny all day. The house is right next to the road, so it gets quite a bit of road noise (they were doing road work while we were there). That said the traffic really dies down at night. The central location was a plus.

Family Vacation

We had the most wonderful time at Vacation Haven! We rented the upstairs of the home, but had full access to the entire deck upstairs and downstairs. (No one stays in the downstairs when there is a renter). This led to some amazing fishing!!! We might have caught 100 fish off of those docks. Some tiny and some HUGE!! This home is only 20 minutes north of Silver Lake and 20 minutes south of Ludington. We took day trips to both and loved being able to come home and relax in the deck. I highly recommend you rent the kayaks as well - the lake is beautiful!! Perfect sunset view!

Worked well for us!

The views were amazing because the deck is directly over Pentwater Lake. Beds were comfortable. A couple of issues which were handled immediately by property owner. I would have liked to see the leaves and debris beside the stairs cleaned up. Also we were not informed the dishwasher doesn't work until the day of our arrival. It needs to go as it is not clean and a good place for mold. House is very close to Pentwater which is a very nice lake town....shops, restaurants etc.

outlets need replace, they are worn out and to lose when you plug things in. Blinds were damaged and need replaced. Refrigerator light doesn't work, otherwise it was nice.

The View!

Cute, comfortable and clean cottage on a wonderful perch directly on (actually feel like you're hanging over!) Pentwater Lake. While it's not really an area suitable for swimming, it's perfection for sitting back and enjoying the serene water views, especially at sunset. It's a short drive or bike into Pentwater, a charming village with shops, eateries, and 2 ice cream shops. (The Cottage Garden Cafe is a MUST visit for breakfast.) Only drawback is that the cottage is among a stretch of lake front cottages that reside very close to the busy road leading in and out of Pentwater, so road noise is definitely an issue at night. A window fan, which was in the closet, helped a lot, along with ear plugs that I brought. Overall, a lovely and enjoyable stay. Thank you, Ying!

Sister trip to Pentwater!!!!

Just some positive feedback 😀 There was only 1 hand towel in kitchen - we found another one in a drawer (dirty) No wine opener Electricity was very sketchy - the living room lamp would not stay on it kept flickering and the same in bedroom by front/side door Kitchen light above sink does not work maybe a burnt out light bulb? Which made it hard to see at night Refrigerator light as well was hit or miss Extra toilet paper would have been nice 😊 Thank you for telling us about the blinds. Unfortunately due to that bedroom being in the direct line of traffic created a lot of light from the cars driving by and made it hard to sleep. We loved our stay and thank you Immensely for allowing us to visit your gem! Lake was gorgeous! Shops were super close & it was really nice spending time walking around! We loved the area and everyone was super nice! Thanks again! Your place was darling and the decor was so fun! Very cozy! Thank you again!!!!

Thank you for the feedback. I will make the changes. I do believe the kitchen light switch often mistaken with the outside light switch. I did add that info to the welcoming text. Sorry about the wine opener, we actually keep two up there and will double check to make sure they are still around. New blackout curtains have been installed in all the bedroom windows now. Lake view was excellent home is centrally located to go out shopping restaurants attractions it couldn’t be better! Only downside barbecue doesn’t work big disappointment but we had a good time.

Summer getaway with the family.

We really enjoyed our time at this property. The view is amazing and the property is close to downtown Pentwater and the beach. The host was quick to respond with any questions we had during our stay.
