Getaway to Glacier

The Cedar Nest worked very well for our stay in Whitefish. It was clean, comfortable and convenient for our time in Glacier National Park. I loved the spiral staircases! I must say that communication before, during and after were exceptional. Many thanks for helping to make our trip a great one!

Overall - when we first arrived, it was warm, 80 degree weather, but the fans on site helped. Nice proximity to the spa and indoor pool, sauna. Kind of out there away from everything and in the wilderness, but got used to the windy road after a few trips.Nice having a working fireplace. Dishwasher did not work at all. Coffee pot did not work, but had it was replaced the next day. Small washer for loads - o.k. Not wild about winding staircases and master bedroom in basement, but this kept it cool on a warm night.

The property was as expected. I will say we experienced a lot of wood smoke from another unit. We had to open the doors to clear the air.

We’ve stayed at Ptarmigan a couple times now, Love the location and atmosphere at the Village, Feel like the photos displayed on the VRBO site are not quite reflective of the actual rooms, they are not as nice as the photos would indicate, could use some upgrading.

Beautiful Vacation Stay

My fiancé and I stayed here for our week long vacation. We chose this location because of the proximity to downtown Whitefish and the amenities offered such as the heated pool and hot tub. It was great having these amenities just a couple steps outside of the condo. Everything in the rental was as described and pictured. The hosts were great about providing helpful information and answering questions. The kitchen was also fully stocked with all the cooking/dining ware we needed! It was a wonderful stay overall. The only downside was not having in-house washing and drying.

The property was clean and check out went well. Not sure why we had to drive a check in sheet to the office. It wasn’t clear to us that the second bath was on a different floor from the bedrooms. The spiral stairs look nice but make it difficult when it’s the only way to transport luggage (when it’s raining and you can’t go around back and thru the bedroom). Some of the doors didn’t shut without much difficulty. The shower on the main floor had way too much pressure which caused a lot of water to cover the balance of the bathroom. Also had issues with the coffee maker, not sure why water would not pass thru. It worked to get our visit to Glacier.

The condo served our group of 5 well. PROS: *Location is great for skiing or going into town. *Kitchen is well-stocked with plenty of pots, pans, cutting boards, utensils, etc. (could use some more glassware and a pizza pan but that's nitpicking).*Plenty of supplies are provided - dishwasher pods, dish soap, paper towels, shampoo, body wash, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc..*The shower pressure was very good (I mention because it usually isn't).*It is clean and everything worked (lights, TV, toilets, appliances, etc.)*Plenty of hooks/hangers for our ski gear at entryway.*Check-in/out was easy with code provided - not a huge list of to-dos. CONS:*The open room/loft is clear from the pictures, but obviously no privacy/quiet for those sleeping in that area. *Furniture, cabinetry and bedding are a bit dated/worn, but still very functional. *Getting large luggage up and down that spiral staircase is no easy task:) It is narrow and some may have a difficult time with it. OTHER INFO:*The pull-out sofa is in the main living room - the description said it was in the loft. It wasn't a problem for us but may be important to some. *The only ingredients supplied are olive oil, salt and pepper (this is not bad, just good to know). *The Village requires a handwritten form (car info and guest names) be dropped at office (weird it's not online but that's not the hosts fault).In summary, it was as described, had everything we needed and was a good value for the money.

Beautiful location, clean close to pool

Our family stayed at this property for four nights. Four adults and one five-year-old. There was plenty of room for us. It was clean. Checking in/out easy. Owners responded to all questions quickly. We had a great stay! Beautiful location! **helpful hint- there are only spiral staircases- for the 2 lower floor occupants- have someone go in the unit, go down the stairs, and open the back door and bring your luggage in for the two lower unit bedrooms through the back door.** Pros: two bedrooms plus the loft was plenty of room for us. The indoor pool and outdoor hot tub was a short path through the woods very close to this unit. The unit was well marked and easy to find. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. Although it is in one of the bedrooms, so you have to plan to do your laundry before someone goes to bed. We enjoyed the outside patio. There is a private beach access 5 minutes drive from there condo. We went down several nights and watch the sunset and actually played games on the picnic tables that are at the beach. It was quiet and we were the only ones there. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, plates, coffee, maker, tester, etc.. Cons: There is no air-conditioning in this unit. Which three out of our four nights was fine. But the first night we arrived it was 90°. And there were no fans in the unit. We had to buy fans. No kitchen table. We ate outside ( plenty of stools around island) Spiral staircases can be a challenge

Ptarmigan Village

Such a beautiful getaway in a great location! Property has been well taken care of and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed dining on the back deck…playing pickle ball…. lounging at the hot tub and swimming at the pool after long days of playing and hiking Glacier. Lovely stay! Thank you.

Was good but not great.

We arrived at Elkhorn on a Saturday evening after traveling for about 15 hours. We were tired and ready to unpack and get comfy in our home away from home for the week. Upon initial arrival, the space is great. It’s secluded, very wooded, and the perfect space for what we needed. I am going to break down our stay for all future renters to be fully prepared. 1. The spiral staircases are a pain in the butt to take luggage down. A lot of the houses in the area have nice pathways to guide you to your home, not Elkhorn. The pathway is gravel and takes you down to the bottom of a staircase that you then have to haul all of your belongings up to the second floor. Our mistake was not noticing the difficultly of the spiral staircases sooner. If you need to take luggage down to the bottom floor, I would recommend entering the space, going downstairs, opening the back door, and then bringing the suitcases to the lower two bedrooms. If you are staying in the upstairs loft - be prepared there isn’t a loophole. 2. I don’t think the photos on VRBO provide an adequate description of the layout. None of the rooms are directly connected to a bathroom, the two lower rooms share a bathroom and the lofted room has to walk down the stairs to the main floor bathroom. This isn’t an issue, just not something that we were prepared for. 3. The hosts were VERY responsive. This came in handy because our pool code and beach code were incorrect. This is by no means their fault, Ptarmigan Village changed the codes without letting them know. We had very timely responses when this occurred. But I think it’s worth mentioning that if you want to go to the beach or pool, do it within office hours of Ptarmigan Village so you aren’t locked out. 4. Parking is not clearly marked outside of Elkhorn. We had the misfortune of another member of the community placing a note on our car that stated “moved or be towed”. We contacted Ptarmigan in fear of having our vehicle towed and they stated they do not place notes like that on cars, nor do they tow since there is not assigned parking. I will say I was not thrilled with the response from our Hosts. We did nothing wrong with regards to parking and I did not feel supported by their response, there was no clarification as to what to do. Luckily Ptarmigan Village’s answering service was able to provide proper information. The location itself is great, it’s very peaceful and extremely beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and watching

Great Family Trip

We spent 2.5 weeks at the property with our 5 & 2 year old and had an excellent time. My husband worked 9-5 from the loft without any internet issues. The kids loved the swimming pool & my husband loved the hot tub. The kitchen is very well-stocked and it was easy to make most meals from the cabin. There weren't tons of kids activities in Whitefish (we didn't ski), but Kalispell has a lot! Holt Stage Hideaway was the favorite and Red Poppy Bakery had wonderful GF goodies. We are excited to visit again.

a nice stay

We had a nice stay at this property. The beds were cozy and it fit our group of 6 perfectly. My kids loved swimming in the salt water pool and our visits to the lake. This property is perfectly located just outside of Whitefish, only a short drive to downtown. It's on a quiet road which makes for pleasant meals on the deck. The managers were swift in response to any questions I had, both about the property and about the area. things to keep in mind: The staircase is very steep and very narrow. There isn't central AC. They have a small unit in the loft but with the temps getting into the 90ies the whole condo gets stuffy The beach is a 10min car ride away, but the indoor swimming pool is walking distance.

Nice getaway stay near Glacier National Park

This property was very nice. It was very clean and everything in working order. The only surprises for me were no dining table (there is one out back on the deck) and no lake in the community (the lake pictured is nearby). It was easy enough to eat on the deck this time of year, or around the kitchen counter (there are barstools). Only improvements I would suggest are more glassware and check out the shower faucet (feels loose - not broken, but it feels like it could fail at some point). Kitchen was stocked well enough for the cooking we did. Nice quiet street.

Good spot for our family

Our family of five felt very comfortable in the property. The great room was good for hanging out. We were there when temps were unseasonably high, so the it was hard to sleep in the loft. But overall a good property. The property managers were very responsive and communicative.

Amazing family trip

My husband and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren in Whitefish, Montana. We had an amazing time and can't wait to come back. The managers were awesome with getting back to us and helping us. We very much appreciated how quickly they responded to us. Thank you for a wonderful trip!❤
