Friend getaway

Wonderful property. Dan has really thought of all the creature comforts you may need and was very communicative. Everyone greatly enjoyed the stay and we would all book again on another trip to Austin!

Great property!

Stayed for ACL weekend. House was clean and stocked. Walking distance to the festival and good food. Really nice neighborhood. Our host was so helpful and gave us great recommendations. He responded quickly to all questions and really made us feel welcome. What a great weekend, made even better by our wonderful accommodations!

Easy, luxurious and spotless

Sometimes you stay in a place that's nice but clearly thrown together with cheap furniture, haphazard cups, and a tricky check in process. Not here! Check in was easy, friendly and flawless, and the place was absolutely spotless upon arrival. The furniture and especially beds were luxurious and comfortable, the wi-fi was fast, the AC was cold, and everything was working and in great order. The host was super communicative and friendly, and even though we ended up not needing anything because everything was in such good shape, I'm sure that if we did it would've been fixed in no time. Worth every penny and we'll be back.

Updated home / perfect host

Dan from the first email, was quick to respond to all my questions / our needs. Even the crazy ask for a foam roller, when one of us slipped over our own feet; Dan delivered help! Beautiful, spacious, updated residence. Beds all slept Grreat! We enjoyed his front yard swing, as we ventured out each day. The pool was definitely much needed after long hours of enjoying Austin! All bathrooms were stocked w toiletries - and his kitchen well equipped. As well as, Dan stocked us with refreshments (waters, beer, seltzers, snacks) upon arrival. We had an amazing trip to Austin / ACL and highly recommend 1606 Dexter. It was like checking into my families house. Thanks Dan for taking excellent care of us! Highest of the high recommendations!

There aren't enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe our experience this summer in this gorgeous home away from home. Let's start with Dan, who was a warm, gracious, and always accessible host. He welcomed us with a generous stash of cold beverages upon our arrival and an immaculate house stocked with every amenity and comfort possible -- including the spacious kitchen and pantry, sparkling plunge pool, workout room, office space with printer and big monitor, high speed wifi, and large screen TVs loaded with entertainment options. April, the property manager, was a terrific resource and always responsive. The beds were large and cozy; every night's sleep was cool and peaceful. The main floor master bedroom suite will give its lucky occupants a five-star feel. The open-space living room area features a cozy modern sectional sofa we loved to stretch out on day or night. There's an ample deck off the office with views of downtown -- great for early-morning yoga or coffee meditation. The backyard patio with grill, lounge chairs, and tons of pool accessories was perfect for family gatherings. We felt so blessed to find this special place a stone's throw from Zilker Park and especially loved hiking around the neighborhood down to the food truck park on Barton Springs, Butler trail, and Lady Bird Lake. Thank you, Dan, for a spectacular stay.

Clean, Beautiful, Spacious, Relaxing, Central and Overall Lovely

Dan was very responsive and accommodating from day 1 of messaging about my stay. I went for a girls trip and comfortably slept all 7 of us, we could've all slept in the living room on the most comfiest couch ha! When arrived, the house was set up with snacks, beers, seltzers, and a clean and spacious house. The bathrooms had all the amenities, towels, and make up removers for the girls (That was such a nice touch!) We were lucky to meet the person helping to stock the goodies, and she was the best part of the house! Full of knowledge, hospitality, and offered to help us with anything we needed (up the AC, etc). Early and Late check in was much appreciated as our flights were all over the map. Couldn't say anything but praises on Dan's house, hospitality and accommodations. Will highly recommend for others.

The house was advertised and cleaned very well - our expectations were met while checking in! We appreciated the house being stocked with common household items, but was a little off-put by how many personal belongings were still around.

Great place in Austin!

This was such a nice home and worked perfectly for our stay in Austin. Dan was an incredibly responsive host and made everything super easy. The house was beautiful and extremely functional for our group. It was super clean, very comfortable, and amazingly well stocked. We had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were so comfortable and the several outside areas of the home were just perfect to relax and enjoy our visit. The proximity to downtown, and especially to Zilker Park made access to so many amenities in the area super easy. Definitely within easy walking distance. It was so nice to have a large open living, dining, kitchen area in which we could all congregate and enjoy our family. There was even a very nice workstation for checking in on business related items. This is really an exceptional house in a perfect location! It was a pleasure staying here and I would love to return!

Excellent house for a friend reunion!

Great location and lovely property. Dan was super responsive, the place was spotless and had everything we needed to enjoy our visit. Stayed here with a group of college friends, we hadn't seen each other in several years. The kitchen/living area was fabulous for lounging, as was the pool. Plenty of room for us all to spread out but also gather and catch up. Highly recommend!

ACL with the kids

Great house. Clean and well setup for a group. My adult son's and I stayed for ACL Festival, and the walk to park was very easy. The property owner's communication was great and very cordial.

Harvey visit

We had a great visit in Austin to visit our son's family and some of their friends. We were able to celebrate Harvey's 2nd birthday a little delayed. The house was spotless, well appointed. The pool was a hit with everyone. Dan was quickly available for the couple of questions we had. We would recommend this house to anyone.

Awesome, fun, clean spot super close to everything

Stayed here with a bunch of buddies from out of town. Dan was super responsive and helpful. His place has a great open format that makes for a super fun place where everyone can come together. The pool in the backyard was a hit, and the location is a quick scooter/Uber from downtown (6th, Rainey). Would recommend to almost anyone!

THUMBS UP FOR ZILKER RETREAT

Everyone in our party enjoyed the comforts of Zilker Retreat. It was represented accurately in the listing. Management was attentive. It’s a beautiful home with comfortable, up to date decor. You’ll love watching the big screen TV on their comfy Coach. The pool was a highlight of the property day and night. Ping pong was an added bonus for us too. My grandson of 11 said this place has good vibes.

Delightful and cozy

My family of 5 loved our stay. We swam, played ping pong and bean bags, went to the movies, walked to Snooze and relaxed on the most comfortable couch ever! Dan and Rebecca are unbelievable hosts. I highly recommend staying here...we will for our next staycation.

Great ACL Weekend

Incredible Experience

We had an amazing time staying at Dan's beautiful home. A few friends and I were in Austin for the weekend and his house made the trip. The backyard/pool area is incredible. The interior is modern and perfectly decorated. We'll certainly be back. Highly recommended.

I wanted a home that was centrally located within Zilker, so I could be close to swimming at Barton Springs, running around Zilker or a short walk to many bars and restaurants along South Lamar.
