Privat, avskild plats vid toppen av Buck Mountain - nästan en mil hög höjd för detta 2 sovrum + den / 2. 5 bad chinked log stil Rustik stuga intill Catalochee Ranch och Ski Area och inom gångavstånd till Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Förutom mycket privatliv och avskildhet (ingen grannar i sikte) erbjuder denna stuga året runt dramatiska långdistansutsikt över bergen. Lätt 20 minuters promenad till 1000 hektar Catalochee Ranch och Skidområde för ridning (hästar är tillgängliga från april till tacksägelse) och landsmatsal och för snöskidåkning och snö ombordstigning på vintern (skidbackarna är öppna ca. Thanksgiving till mars). Eller vandra till Swag för gourmetlandsmatsal under säsongen. Ingen AC i stuga - hög höjd håller det lugnt på sommaren. Du kan gå till många aktiviteter från denna stuga. vandringsleder, ridning, skidåkning / snowboard och mat och underhållning på Cataloochee Ranch. Denna stuga har 3 våningar - 1 sovrum (med queen size-säng) 1 badrum på översta våningen, 1 sovrum (med queen size-säng) + en hål (med queen size-säng) och 1 badrum på bottenvåningen, 1/2 bad med tvättmaskin och torktumlare på vardagsrumsnivå (mellannivå). Öppen spis. Vilda Björnbär och Blåbär på 2 hektar stor egendom. WIFI och skål s. Live feed NEST webbkamera med utsikt över uppfart (länk tillgängligt om gäster vill se det). Nära GSMNP. 51 minuters bilresa till Biltmore Estate och Vineyards (38.2 miles) på I - 40. En timmes bilresa till Asheville. 1 timme och 36 minuters bilresa på I-40 W till Gatlinburg. Nära Cherokee Reservation. Observera - Endast 4 hjulgående fordon är tillåtna på uppfarten till denna stuga och motorcyklar är inte tillåtna, förlåt. 4 hjul eller allhjul krävs för Scenic View Road året runt - inte bara för snö eller isförhållanden eftersom det är en mycket brant fjärrväg ca 1,2 mil lång. Kabinen är inte en stor och spridande stuga och det är inte lätt att komma upp dit om du inte har fyrhjulsdrift eller allhjulsdrift men det som saknas i storlek är mer än gjort i sin mycket stora charmfaktor och i områdets gränslösa naturskönhet och djurliv i närheten (notera - det finns svarta björnar i området) och så mycket att bara gå eller vandra till. Om du gillar en semester där du inte behöver köra hela tiden i din bil för att "gå någonstans" och föredrar att bara slappna av på verandan eller vandra de omgivande spåren eller gå till häststallarna för någon åktur eller att göra lite vinterskidor i närheten av detta är platsen för dig! En trädkramers, birder och vandrare sanna paradis. Vi rekommenderar att du försöker köpa matvaror på väg innan du checkar in. Vägen upp till stugan är landsbygd, bergsvägen - asfalterad (grus och smuts) och det är en ganska lång och brant bilresa från den asfalterade vägen (Fie Top Road) upp till stugan. Det är inte den sort eller vägen du vill spendera mycket tid på att springa upp och ner om du kan undvika det.

Mountain Peace

Anniversery trip

We climbed the mountain road in a Sante Fe and had no issues, even in the rain & dark. Definitely need an all wheel drive vehicle, but the views are worth it. The cabin and grounds were wonderful with fully equipped kitchen & laundry. With Cataloochee Ranch above and Maggie Valley below there was a lot to do outside of hiking. We loved it and will be back next year.

Wonderful Cabin in the Sky

The cabin is a spectacular retreat on a mountain. The road up is definitely not for the faint at heart but is doable with 4wheel drive. This cabin was the most stocked with kitchen appliances and utensils that I’ve seen. The fenced in yard was a bonus as I’m traveling with my dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the cabin and would recommend as a private retreat.

Awesome Cabin Get Away!

Our Stay was really wonderful! The view from this cabin and the peace and quiet are excellent. Yes you can hear the silence. The beauty of the mountains and the cabin are like a mystical land. The cabin has everything you need as far as services and utilities. Watching the Weather come in from the high elevation you will understand why they are called the Great Smoky Mountains. If you like the mountains this cabin is it!

Amazing View!! - Highly Recommend

I could write a book about our positive stay! We have stayed at a few cabins and this one by far was the best "stocked". I don't have anything to complain about and we will be back. The host was very responsive with questions. The fence around the property was amazing for our corgis and surprising for being a "pet" friendly destination, it was picked up.And of course we picked ours up. We over packed not knowing the complimentary amenities but now know. There is all the appliances you can imagine which added to the flair. I really can't say enough but highly recommend this property as a vacation. The little details made this a home away from home!

Escape from the Heat

Wow, did we enjoy the cabin! It was so hot when we left Florida and perfect weather on the mountain! Our favorite spot is the porch, my dogs love it too! The cabin is always clean and well stocked. Laura is the best host! She is always quick to respond to any questions and easy to reach. She has been wonderful as we made our plans to head home a day late because of the hurricane. I cannot recommend this Cozy Cabin enough! We will be back!

Fantastic cabin once you step inside

First and foremost, fantastic views, peaceful, and thoughtful amenities were all impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed the landscaping and nature around us! Laura was quick to respond and very understanding during our stay. We did want to provide input on the drive up the mountain. Heed the 4 wheel drive warning! We were in an AWD SUV (RAV4), do-able but far less than optimal. Climbing the 1.2 mile private road up the mountain was much less of a concern compared to the driveway to the home. A running start was needed due to loose gravel on the steep slope which in turn also meant sliding when backing down the driveway. The intent here is to hopefully help future guests be fully prepared. Would suggest installing geogrid to stabilize the surface and hold the gravel in place. Would also note that we used a hitch mounted carrier to haul dog crates. The unevenness of the switch-backs may cause a carrier to drag depending on the vehicle. Overall, being prepared along with safe maintained access makes this home truly breathtaking!!!

Gorgeous Location

This place and location are just beautiful. Cabin was lovely and had everything we needed. Definitely need 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive but if you do its worth it. The views of the surrounding mountains are gorgeous. The property is fenced in so our dog was able to roam and run around. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

Paradise

You can't get better than this cabin and this owner. Seriously! We celebrated Christmas with our kids here, and we were pleased well beyond our expectations. The cabin is immaculate and cozy, and the scenery here is nothing short of breathtaking. We were completely surrounded by the mountains. Unfortunately, there are no words to describe this view. The best I can think of is humbling. In addition, Laura (the owner) was very kind, flexible and attentive. We are hoping to return in the Fall; but this time we might not leave :) Our experience at this cabin will rate as one our best family vacations. Did I forget to mention that we were smacked by a bomb cyclone during our visit? Unbelievably, the mountain temperature dropped to -18, but we were comfortable and warm. The storm was actually a delight for us. What are you waiting for? Book this when you can. You will be so happy that you did. Sweet Laura, I can't thank you enough for your attentiveness and constant communication. You've been a dream to work with. Stay in touch and Happy New Year!

Smokey Mountain Thanksgiving

Have been wanting to stay at this cabin for quite some time and was well worth the wait. The layout and location are the perfect representation of a mountain cabin and the view was way better than expected. Cabin is just as pictured and the host is very accommodating. Always a great stay

Even this time of year, with no leaves on the trees, the stay at this cabin is the best. Weather kept us in for two days but we were quite cozy in the cabin. Did lots of fishing and hiking in the area and really enjoyed the fall leaf watchers being gone. Year after year we love coming to this neck of the woods but especially this cabin. The owner Laura is the best when it comes to communication and will always bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and well taken care of.

Beautiful cabin. Best stocked rental we have ever had. Kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment. Also included numerous coffees, condiments, food items, shampoos, soap, etc. Other than using a few keurig pods we used our own coffee, tea, paper towels, and other items. Greatly impressed that these items were available if needed. The house is comfortably furnished. Quality dry firewood was provided for the large stone fireplace. Best host we have experienced!

Beautiful private cabin with amazing views!

This was our second stay in the cabin during Fall, and we loved it even more than the first time. The location is very private and quiet. The yard is nicely landscaped and fenced. The kitchen is incredibly well-supplied. The rooms are warm and cozy. Best of all - the views are absolutely amazing. We hope to return again next year. Follow the advice to bring groceries with you, and be prepared to take trash with you when you go into town or check out. The gravel road up to the house was being maintained during our visit and may have improved, but be prepared for a rough drive in places. Follow the recommendation for 4WD and you will be fine.

Cool, Peaceful and Cozy

We had been wanting to try Cataloochee Cabin for quite a while and our stay was everything we had hoped it would be and more! The kitchen was the most well equipped of any place we've ever stayed, even coffee and spices were provided! The rest of the cabin was equally as wonderful, from the extremely comfortable bed in the upstairs bedroom to the stack of dry firewood on the porch and the wonderful leather sofa in front of the fireplace. The outside was even better. The yard was beautifully landscaped and even with rain one day we were able to wrap up and enjoy the covered porch before going in to enjoy the fire. I have to say though that the host, Laura, is as wonderful as her cabin! A plumbing leak was found three days before our arrival. She notified us right away and stayed in daily contact with us about it. She was on top of it and kept us informed. You can be sure if any problem arises she will quickly do her best to make it right. We will be back!!!

Escaping the Heat

This was our third stay at Laura's cabin. Nothing can beat the quiet mornings drinking coffee on the deck watching the sun light up the mountain view! My dogs loved running around the property and then relaxing on the deck, their favorite spot! Laura is a great host! The cabin is clean, well stocked with anything you could need and she responds quickly to any communication. The cabin is close to so many great places to visit in the Smokies! This visit we experienced some close encounters with elk on Balsam Mountain. The view and cool weather in the summer is just what we needed. This cabin is a wonderful find! We will be back again!

Peace and tranquility

This cabin was everything we wanted. It was so peaceful and perfect. The host was fabulous. There was record heat our first couple days at the cabin and she offered to send us air conditioning. She provides everything you need for your stay plus extra. We highly recommend staying here.

Spring in the mountains

This was my 2nd stay at Laura's cabin and just as wonderful as the 1st! Relaxing on the deck watching the mountains bloom was amazing. My dogs loved roaming the property and throughly enjoyed the deck as well. If you are looking for a quiet, remote, and peaceful place to recharge this it! My family lives in Miami and we have been coming up to this little cabin in the woods for all these years as often as we can to see the leaves change in the Autumn and to pick blackberries and ride horses in the Summer and then to ski at Cataloochee in the Winter. Wonderful area for bird watching and hiking into the GSMNP. Our dogs consider it dog heaven up there and pets are welcome.

Varför värden valde detta boende

We bought this cabin because it was very well built, a very stout and sturdy chinked log cabin and because it was in a very private, quiet area and because we had quick access over to the Cataloochee Ranch (now closed for renovations, sorry) for breakfast and dinner and to ride their very fine horses too. We wanted something at a high elevation so it would always be cool and it definitely is! Note: Cataloochee Ranch is closed for food service right now due to renovations. But they do offer a picnic horseback ride from the Ranch up the the beautiful Swag Country Inn when the horseback riding concession is open.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The cabin is not a large and sprawling cabin, and its not easy to get up there unless you have 4 wheel or all wheel drive but what it lacks in size is more than made up for in its very big charm factor and in the area's limitless natural beauty and wildlife close by. If you like a vacation where you don't need to be driving long distances all the time in your car to "go somewhere" and prefer to just relax on the porch or access the nearby trails at GSMNP or take an 8 minute drive up to the horse stables and ski slopes this may be the place for you! A tree-hugger's, birder and hiker's true paradise!
