## Emplacement
Puget-sur-Argens is a town in the Var, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, bordering Fréjus, and 70 km north-east of Toulon.
Attached to the kingdom of France in 1482, the village was fortified during the wars of religion in the 16th century and it becomes a real commune in 1599 when the bishop of Fréjus abandons his feudal rights on the territory.
Located between the Esterel massif and the plain of l'Argens, the locality developed during the second half of the twentieth century: areas of activity are developed, and crossed by the RN7 then by the highway, Puget-sur-Argens sees its population grow from 1,500 inhabitants at the time of the Liberation to over 7,000 today.
However, the city has preserved its environmental heritage: as evidenced by the woods of Malvoisin and especially the banks of the Argens (and the ponds that line them), integrated into the Natura 2000 network (remarkable fauna and flora deserving protection).
Several wineries are still in activity (appellation Côtes de Provence), and the production of olive oil as sheep breeding are still perennial.
Close to the Mediterranean coast, beaches are less than 10 km, Puget-sur-Argens has thus become a stopover or even a resort appreciated by tourists.
