Nice place

lovely and large, the house was nice and clean, but sparsely furnished. The office had only a desk and nothing else. The furniture was functional and of decent quality. For 4 old friends hanging out for a weekend it worked very well. Host was friendly and responsive, my only real complaint was the internet and wifi which randomly vanish at inconvenient moments.

Pluses and Minuses

This is a very large property in a nice neighborhood. There are definitely issues though. Pluses - very large and spacious house. Easily accommodated 5 couples in town for a wedding. - the property was very clean when we arrived - near a lot of shops and restaurants Minuses - it is a very large empty house furnished with a few old and mismatching pieces of furniture - towels, linens, pillows etc are old and threadbare and are in short supply. - very limited supplies - soaps, shampoos etc - kitchen equipment ( cutlery, crockery, serving dishes) are in short supply. Zero teaspoons, a couple of larger spoons! - lack of general maintenance- kitchen cupboard hanging off the hinges, wobbly railings in garage, no cover plate on some light switches. - evidence of building activity all over. We couldn’t use third garage because of building equipment stored in bay. - Wi-Fi dead spots all over the house. It’s a pity because many of these items could easily be remedied at a very small cost. Adequately furnishing the property is the biggest issue and would require a proper investment. This rentals is fine if you need a place for a large group to sleep for a few nights but I would not recommend for a longer stay.

renter beware/not what we expected :(

Although this property has great potential it is not ready to be advertised. The owner is trying to do repairs to property and it isn't rental ready. Although you pay cleaning and property damage fees we walked into a substandard rental. Upon arriving we were left a note instructing us to bring the trash and recycle bins from previous renters to the end of driveway because trash day was the following day. We then discovered 2 shattered windows on the property, front light sconces not working-the 2 lights that finally came on barely shed light on a very dark front entrance, cabinet doors hanging off hinges; stove dirty and pilot gas lights had to be relit each use; ice machine/water dispenser not working/dirty; towels sparse and felt like they had been starched; not enough towels for 10 renters. Not enough dishware or flatware for 10. Shower doors falling off tracks in one bathroom. Lights in kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom upstairs blown out. All furniture in lower level looked like it came from a Thrift Shop. The faux leather totally peeled. Poor wifi -only @5 people could be signed on at a time. White powdery substance on downstairs floor, we assumed tracked in from garage and basement where repairs were being done. No broom, mop or vacuum to clean it up. After reading some negative reviews about the property 2 weeks before the rental I reached out to owner. When we rented the posting stated 6 beds and now months found out there were only 5. We were never notified about the change in the description and had paid in full. I asked about getting another cot in there because now we were short a bed. Also could he fix the front door lighting issue for safety sake. He said no to every request I made. So we packed like we were going to beach not knowing what we'd be walking into and sadly it was unsatisfactory and we found more negative repair issues than expected. I probably should've canceled this reservation but the area of our wedding venue was sold out and didn't know where we'd find accomodations for 10. I was new to using Vrbo and did not contact them directly this weekend with these issues. I did however immediately contact the owner giving him a 10 point list of damages we found at the propery, notifying him we would not be held responsible for any of these issues. As soon as I arrived home I contacted Vrbo about our stay and requested it be pulled from listing hoping now one else would experience this. So far not satified with Vrbo respone

So Much Potential, However....

This home is very nice and spacious and has so much potential, but it seems like the owner is in too much of a rush to rent it out before it is sufficiently set up to be a quality rental. A few issues from previous reviews have been addressed, but a number still remain: Missing knobs on the range. Very few basic eating/cooking utensils, and they are just thrown in the drawers without even a basic silverware organizer. No toaster. Drip coffee maker only makes 5 cups. With 5 coffee drinkers we were making pot after pot of coffee every morning. Need at least a 12 cup model for a house this size, which sell for about $20-$30. Missing bed linens and ill-fitting bed linens. We had to sleep on the pillow shams in the master bedroom because there were no pillow cases on the pillows - which when we pulled them out of the shams initially looked pretty old and stained. In one of the other bedrooms the fitted sheet did not fit the pillow top mattress properly so it wouldn't stay on the mattress overnight. Mattresses were at least comfortable. Outside front lights do not work, which makes it dangerous to come up the front stone steps in the dark. Wi-Fi could not support all of the occupants throughout the stay. The furniture in the living room is a faux leather, and the covering is flaking off and all over the floor. We had an infant with us and after a short time rolling around on the floor she had these flakes all over her, which was pretty gross. As others have mentioned there is no vacuum on site to rectify this. In general not enough furniture to support full occupancy. No deck chairs for sitting outside to enjoy the back yard. The deck is really nice but no real way to enjoy it. The hand soap in the bathrooms appeared to be watered down, very thin consistency which was messy. Things were not where you would expect to find them. I found a couple of dish towels in the laundry room (none in the kitchen which has AMPLE empty cabinets and drawers), and an oven mitt was way in the back of the cabinet under one of the sinks. Water dispenser on the fridge does not work - says filter needs to be replaced. None of these are expensive fixes, and a little more attention to fixing the issues (particularly the ones that multiple people have included in their reviews) would go a long way to making this a quality rental.

Not for the frequent Vrbo goer

Towels ripped in half with little to no face cloths - no hand soap - 1 spoon - no garbage cans - beds either just had a top sheet with no fitted sheets or fitted sheets with no top sheets and don’t forget to pack your pillows unless you like sleeping on ones as flat as a towel! Tv im master did not work correctly - Wi-Fi could not support all of the occupants throughout the stay.. no BBQ Knobs missing on the grill Garage smelt like garbage Thin toilet paper Almost no kitchen utensils And wasn’t compensated for any of things that were missing No basic Vrbo or Airb&b amenities that are BASIC there was moldy buns in the cupboards and no garbage bags. Big property - beautiful neighborhood but lacked basic needs…….

Celebration of Life

My family and I stayed at this VRBO location for a long weekend and while many aspects of the home itself were beautiful we unfortunately faced many technical issues all weekend long. The biggest issue we dealt with was the broken AC unit. It was one of the hottest weekends with temperatures reaching between 85-90 degrees and the AC units of both the downstairs and upstairs were having issues which eventually resulted in them not working properly at all. Some of my family members were forced to move down into the basement and sleep on the ground and in chairs to stay cool enough. We reached out to the owner on Friday evening, no one arrived until Saturday afternoon in which the issue wasn’t fixed properly. When informing the owner that the unit still wasn’t working properly Saturday evening, they did not send some to service it until Sunday afternoon. Aside from the big AC unit issues, there were noticeable other issues that were around the house including a broken garbage disposal, a number of missing light bulbs, loose railings on stairs leading into the home via the garage which can cause safety issues, the ice maker was full of mold, a handful of door handles to closets and rooms were lose, and there was a prominent smell of gas when opening the cabinet under the stove and there was no fan or ventilation in the kitchen area to utilize when cooking. Some small things that would have also made our stay better would have included cleaning supplies, broom, dust pans, toaster, silverware, hand soap, fans for the bedrooms (especially with broken AC unit), cooking sheets, and bathmats as floors can get slippery when exiting the shower. All in all, the property and home were beautiful and gave us a nice place for our small family to gather, play outdoor games, and picnic together however, the issues made our stay less than enjoyable. If the issues were fixed in the future, renters may have a much better stay. Policy and procedures are not documented in home. Would highly recommend they be established.

Family Wedding and Forth of July Celebration

The house is absolutely beautiful! There was more than enough room for the 9 members of our family to relax and enjoy ourselves. The location was perfect close to the state park and all the shopping and restaurant's your heart desires! It was very affordable for our multi generational family. BUT there were obvious issues that can all be resolved, IF the owner wishes to attend to. Upon checking in the gas stove top wouldn't light, missing knobs and very dirty. Upon waking up the next morning no hot water. The owner responded quickly and had repair man come over and repaired both issues. For a bit we had no water and the basement was flooded with water but eventually it was fixed. Basement sill had a lot of water which we told the manager/owner. As the previous guest mentioned there were no hangers, no spoons & no fitted sheet on one of the beds. In the listing it says BR#4, 2 King Beds that wasn't the case, only one K bed. Also BR #6 , Futon/sofa bed, also not the case. So we had to get a blow up mattress and buy sheets. Future guest bring pillows! Master BR the TV was not connected to the cable/internet so no picture. The MS BR closet was huge but missing a top to the cabinet in the closet. The kitchen is a dream to work in and was well stocked but lacking some simple items. Like a can opener, strainer, pot holders and dish towels and a veg. peeler. It usually is customary to have a few dishwasher tabs to start off with, but there were none. They did supply all the paper goods and hand soap. The refrigerator needs a good cleaning! The gas clothes dryer vent wasn't connected, so the fumes and heat came into the room. Upon returning at night we couldn't get any front porch lights to work. Only the driveway/garage. But my father had trouble going up the stairs in the garage due to the extremely lose banister. So the front door was his best option. It would of been helpful to leave directions when the garbage and recycles were to be put out. The accumulation of both in the garage left a awful odor. It also would be nice to have a few outdoor chairs to sit on. Its a beautiful yard. I think the manager/owner if interested in future renting this home need to set up the house a bit more. We have been VRBO travelers for many years and appreciate all the effort it takes to rent a home. We of course always have a great time with our family. Avon is a very pretty area. Diane B.

Avon Rental

The rental property was very nice and spacious in a great location. It was peaceful and quiet (except for lawn citing which is expected). It suited our needs as we had a large number of people. The property provided the very basic items for the stay. The following are things that we were not provided or could have been improved to make stay more comfortable:- When we arrived the garage was smelly due to bins full of garbage. Not all the garage openers worked The railing from the garage to the kitchen is not secure very loose Filter in fridge needs changing Need washing detergent and conditioner preferably non-biological due to so many allergies people are having nowadays An iron and ironing board No teaspoons and knives No broom and pan for inside house No mop No broom for outside No vacuum No dishwasher tablets No cloth for drying dishes No salt No tea bags Not enough face cloths/ hand towels in master bath No hangers in all closets Pillows were not enough or in a bad state No fitted sheets on one of the bedrooms mattresses Master bedroom TV did not have signal to work No bathroom mats to stop splashes of water on the floor (there was 1 in master bath) The cooker knobs not very safe and dirty (3 knobs missing) Faucets very loose need to be secured. When communicating with agent regarding no water on first day, he send someone but not call me to let me know someone was coming. Just text notification. When person arrived, they actually came into garage without notifying us. Also started work without notifying us. i.e. turned water off.

If I had only one word to describe this property, I would just say, "WOW". It was beautiful, almost palatial in appearance. From the magnificent chandelier in the entry way, to the enormous master bedroom (which was so huge it had three zip codes), it was so tranquil and relaxing, and the king-sized bed was super comfy. The kitchen was fabulous (as were all of the appliances). It was the perfect place for everyone as they gathered around the breakfast table, where we were able to enjoy viewing the huge backyard with its gorgeous spring blooming plants and trees. Just wonderful! Thank you.
