A week in San gimignano

The apartment was perfect. Great location, furnishing where amazing and the help and assistance from the owner was awesome. She went out of her way to help with guidance as we didn't know the area. I would definitely recommend to anyone. Only one point to anyone who has problems with stairs. It is on the third floor and there are plenty so you have to be prepared. It was hard work for my Mother who we took with us.

Quiet comfort in town center

Where do I start? Silvana's attic apartment was amazing. It is extremely spacious and the antique decor is comfortable and charming. The VIEW of the piazza is incredible. You can be in the middle of it all without having to leave your apartment! It is central to everything and for us, San Gimignano was a great place to center our exploration of Tuscany. Silvana was very communicative and made arrangements for her friends to drive us and our luggage to the apartment, which made checking in so easy. Look no further for the perfect stay in San Gimignano! Thank you, Silvana!

Beautiful Apartment in Tuscany

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this lovely apartment in the center of San Gimignano. The views of the Piazza Duomo and the surrounding towers were absolutely fantastic and provided marvelous photo points. The apartment is very large, comfortable and spotless. It was very well decorated and although it has been completely modernized the ancient exposed brick has the feel and warmth of this medieval village. Silvana was extremely helpful with touring suggestions and her representative, Fernanda, was very welcoming. I love this place and will miss it when I return home. The parking spot is an unbelievable added convenience and I was able to tour much of Tuscany and make incredible memories. I highly recommend this charming apartment and hope to return one day.

Gillade: Renlighet, incheckning, kommunikation, plats och annonsens riktighet

Schöner kann das Mittelalter nicht sein

Wir haben zu zweit eine ganze Woche hier verbracht und hätten es leicht noch länger ausgehalten, denn schöner kann man in San Gimignano fast nicht wohnen. Ein mittelalterliches Gemäuer, sehr geschmackvoll und mit Sinn fürs Historische eingerichtet. Das besondere Zuckerl: ein Fenster des Wohnzimmers geht direkt auf den Domplatz, sodaß man Tag und Nacht das Treiben dort von oben beobachten kann. Trotzdem ist die Wohnung nicht laut. Bei geöffneten Fenstern hört man meist nur das Gurren der Tauben und die unzähligen Dohlen und Schwalben, die um die Türme schwirren und dort ihre Nester bauen. Wir haben es genossen, ihnen zuzuschauen. Und da es praktisch keinen motorisierten Verkehr in der Altstadt von gibt, gibt es natürlich auch keinen Autolärm – sehr erholsam! Was man auf den Fotos nicht sieht: Es ist noch ein zweites Badezimmer da, das zwar keine Dusche hat, aber Toilette, Waschbecken, Bidet und eine Waschmaschine. Außerdem gibt es einen großen Abstellraum, in dem man Koffer und sperrige Sachen problemlos verschwinden lassen kann. Und der oberste Teil des Stiegenhauses ist in die Wohnung integriert und hat eine abschließbare Tür. Die Wohnung ist also noch geräumiger als es die Bilder vermuten lassen. Durch die zentrale Lage kann man folgende Sehenswürdigkeiten in etwa einer (!) Gehminute vom Haus aus erreichen: den Dom mit den tollen Fresken, den Rathausturm zum Hinaufsteigen, die Pinakothek oberhalb des Rathauses, die Touristeninfo, die Salvucci-Türme und die Piazza della Cisterna (mit der berühmten Gelateria Dondoli) Die Kommunikation mit den Vermietern ist sehr unkompliziert und nett. Danke an Silvana Freddi und auch alle anderen Beteiligten, die uns geholfen haben, unser Gepäck in die Stadt zu bringen. San Gimignano ist ohnehin eine idyllische Stadt und mit dieser Wohnung wird sie einmal mehr zu einem Erlebnis.

Location, location, location!

We had an amazing stay at Attico Duomo! Owners made check in easy and a private parking spot is priceless in that location. The many steps can be a challenge for some but so worth it!! Comfy beds and everything needed at a stones throw! Loved it! Grazie Silvana!

Great place - very central

In the heart of San Gimignano and such a relaxed and peaceful place to stay. Very comfortable apartment with plenty of room and it was great to look up from the square and down from the tower to our windows. Our hosts were very helpful and welcoming. San Gimignano is a lovely place to stay - take time out and enjoy the atmosphere - particularly after the day trippers have left. The queue for gelato is so much shorter after dinner.

Great

The apartment was much bigger than we imagined. The stairs were not a big deal. The managers of the apartment were very welcoming and drove us to the apartment on arrival. The free parking was invaluable and only four or five minute walk from the apartment. The apartment is situated right in town near everything. There is a large coop supermarket right outside the Giovanni gate beyond the gardens with great prices on groceries.

Warm, spacious and so comfortable. It was perfect.

We arrived by train to Poggibonsi where Silvana had made arrangements for my sister and I to be driven to San Gimignano. Our two bedroom apartment was fabulous. Attico Duomo is right in the heart of San Gimignano. Each morning we opened our wooden shutters and were looking right at Collegiata’s Church. We stayed nine nights in this dream. When your adventure takes you to Tuscany please give yourself a treat of a lifetime and stay at Attico Duomo, the XII century medical palace. Dalene and Della

Great Apartment

Great apartment in the middle of San Gimignano. Seamless interaction with the property owner. The free parking is a huge plus. I would stay at this location again and recommend it to my friends.

A RETURN VISIT

This was our second time staying at the Attico Duomo apartment. We chose to return because the apartment is lovely, quiet and well appointed. It is located in the historic center of San Gimignano overlooking one of the major piazzas. Having a designated parking space just outside the city walls is invaluable, and on top of that there is a washing machine in the apartment so that you can catch up on your laundry. Be prepared for the 59 steps to the apartment, but it is well worth the climb to be able to live like a local while you stay in one of the most charming hill towns in Tuscany. The property owners are prompt with their responses and very helpful regarding the booking of the apartment. The keyholder speaks very little English, buy we managed to communicate well enough to get comfortably settled in. Thank you Silvana and Piergiorgio for another wonderful stay in your lovely apartment!

Amazing

This is an amazing apartment. From the location - perfect; to the amenities - everything you might need ; to the hosts and check in - complete. Location was unbelievable across from the duomo on the main piazza looking down from the 3 rd floor . Listening to the church bells was magical. Most amazing was the use of the free parking area behind Fernanda's house. We truly enjoyed San G and staying this wonderful town and apartment If you are staying in San G somewhere besides this apartment you are probably in the wrong place and somewhere not nearly as wonderful. We will return next year and would stay no where else Thank you Silvana

CHARMING TOWER APARTMENT IN BEST LOCATION IN BEST TUSCAN HILL TOWN

Silvania did a fantastic job preparing us for our visit and was a gracious hostess throughout. We were met by the caretakers who were charming and helpful. It is a spacious apartment with an amazing view of the main square. It has every thing you could need. We attended the cooking class and met the entire beautiful family. I could not have imagined a better experience. Yes, there are stairs, but how else are you going to access a Medieval tower?

Charming and extremely comfortable apartment

Apartment in San Gimognano

We truly enjoyed our stay in San Gimignano. The location of this apartment is excellent, it overlooks the plaza and the view of the countryside is spectacular. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Love the feel of staying in an old medieval town. Sylvana and her family were extremely kind and helpful. The parking was very convenient. We highly recommended this apartment. Our time in Tuscany was amazing !

Spent four nights in this lovely apartment. Great views, in the heart of a very charming Tuscany village.Simply put, this is a great place to stay and relax and just enjoy yourself in San Gimignano. I would highly recommend this as a must do !!!

A wonderful holiday in Tuscany

Suberb location in the centre of San Gimignano with marvellous views from the sitting room overlooking Piazza Duomo. The apartment was well appointed and extremely clean, it felt more like a home than a holiday let with many pictures and decorative items adorning the walls. The apartment has been sympathetically and cleverly modernised maintaining a typical Tuscan feel, all furnishings are of a good quality and extremely tasteful. The location is ideally situated as a base to explore Siena, Florence, Voltera, Lucca, Pisa and many other villages within the surrounding beautiful countryside. A car is not really necassary as the public transport is excellent, bus timetables are available from the very helpful Tourist Information Office which is a two minute walk across the Piazza from the apartment. All communication with the owner via email was superb with helpful and very prompt response. We will definately be returning to stay in this beautiful apartment.

Fantastic Place, unforgettable views!

Location is simply extraordinary, views of Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral square) from living room are unparalleled (and there are other interesting views too). Apartment is comfortable, spacious, bright and well equipped, and decoration/furniture keep the charm of the fabulous setting. Communication with owners and person receiving us was impeccable (and very friendly). The apartment comes with a parking spot about 200-300 meters away, which is very secure. This is a big plus (tip, if you do not pack light leave stuff you won't use in the car, the "attico" is not for 29-inch luggage!). Overall, a wonderful place at a very reasonable price; we'll be back!!!!

Beautiful Apartment in a Great Location

Attico Duomo proved to be everything that was promised in the advertisements for the apartment. It was in a fantastic location in the heart of San Gimignano across from the Duomo. The two bedroom apartment was very comfortable with furnishings that enhanced the Tuscan experience and history. It was exceptionally clean with a fully equipped kitchen, two modern bathrooms, and laundry facilities. The Wi-Fi and parking proved to be an added value option that contributed to our overall satisfaction and comfort. Since we cooked a number of our meals at the apartment, we were pleased that it was fully equipped with kitchen utensils, dishware, and cutlery. Overall, this was a great experience in a unique apartment rich with history and local culture.

I Love This Apartment!

I have just booked the beautiful Attico Duomo for the 3rd consecutive year. This lovely apartment is exactly as it appears in the photos. Everytime I go there it is immaculately clean and perfectly maintained. The apartment is fully loaded with everything you could possibly want or need. You can prepare meals in the kitchen or bring in enough food for a feast, and everything you need is on hand. We love to shop at the Pam superstore in nearby Poggibonsi and the Thursday morning San Gimignano market, and prepare some meals at home, but also love to eat out at the fabulous restaurants in San Gimignano. Fernanda and Patrizia, the two ladies who take care of the apartment are absolutely delightful and endlessly helpful. The owner, Silvana is just wonderful, and over the course of my vacations spent there has become a lifetime friend. The apartment comes with parking space, making it ideal for anyone who likes to drive around and explore Tuscany. We also love to drive down the hill to Certaldo and take the train in to Florence or anywhere we don't feel like driving to that day. San Gimignano is the perfect town to base a vacation from and Attico Domo is just the loveliest, most wonderful place to stay. Attico Duomo has become our home away from home, and we now plan our Italian vacations around the availability of the apartment. I absolutely recommend staying here, your experience will be wonderful!

A PERFECT FIT FOR US

My adult daughter and I spent five perfect days and nights at ATTICO DUOMO in May of this year. The apartment is situated right in the middle of town, and so is convenient to everything. The apartment itself is completely renovated and is beautiful. The website pictures are all accurate, but don't really do it justice. Very comfortable and clean, and well priced. San Gimignano has to be one of my favorite hill towns in all of Tuscany. And it is convenient to all sorts of day trips, especially if you are interested in wine country, as we were. I would be remiss if I didn't mention how very nice and helpful the apartment manager was to us. As we arrived in San G., our rental car just stopped working as we started to enter the parking lot. Luckily, our cellphone allowed us to call her, and though her English and our Italian were not very good, she came to our rescue. She and her friend arranged for a tow truck, called a friend who took us back to the rental agency to procure another car, and made sure we were comfortably settled in the apartment. A bad beginning turned into a great first day because of her kindness and help. Piergorgio and Silvana Freddi, the owners, have thought of everything here, and I will recommend their apartment in San G. to anyone wanting some quality time in Tuscany. A true delight! BTW, be sure to go to the Il Travatore Pizzeria there, which is an easy walk from the apartment. A truly wonderful and fun restaurant.

Loved Atiico Duomo

We loved the apartment. San Gimignano is gorgeous and also a great spot to base yourself for exploring the rest of Tuscany. The apartment is very spacious and so, so cute. Main bedroom is hot (no windows), so could be a bit uncomfortable in the middle of summer. The keyholders do not speak a word of english, so be warned. Looking back now we can laugh about our arrival, but at the time, arriving in a storm, trying to call them and not understanding a thing they were saying was rather stressful and a waste of several hours. Anyway, in the end it was definitely worth it and we would stay there again but a keyholder who can speak a little english would be good. Would recommend anyone staying here to go to Il Trovatore for dinner. The food was so amazing we had to go back twice. It was the best restaurant we went to during our entire 6 week holiday. An electric kettle in the apartment would be a good addition. Could make a cuppa but had to boil the water in a saucepan on the stove.

Wonderful

This apartment is absolutely wonderful. It is characteristic to the period of all surrounding buildings and stays true to the San Gimignano atmosphere. The kitchen is equipment to prepare meals, the washer assisted with packing fewer clothes, it is beautifully decorated and you are in the center of San Gimignano's activities. Walk out of the apartment stairwell and you in the town's center. I would definitely return.

From every window a different panorama can be admired, with picturesque patches of the Sienese and Florentine countryside cultivated with vines and sunflowers. Of Etruscan origin, it is a real artistic gem. The historic centre is a site which is protected by UNESCO and presents intact the Tuscan 12th and 13th centuries, packed with beautiful palaces, with important sculptures and frescoes. It is almost unreal: we know that it is all authentic, even if it appears to be like a perfect reconstruction.
The city is an UNESCO world heritage site and rightly so, since when you walk the streets it seems hard to believe that the Medieval era is no longer alive. This is furtherest away from the small town however, not so far that it is impossible in a day trip, especially since Pisa (once you have bought your tickets in advance online) can easily be visited and appreciated in less than a day.
