With two king bedrooms, each with their own ensuite, and a large open plan living area, the cottage is a great choice for both business and leisure travellers. Whether you are in Hawke's Bay for a relaxing weekend, sporting event or on a business trip, Lavenham Cottage caters to your needs.

Rural whare

Lovely quiet spot. Rooms clean and well presented. Would benefit from provision of a few essentials - a few coffee and tea sachets, sugar, small milk and salt and pepper. We assumed these would be provided. Bathrooms were well supplied with towels, soaps etc.

Great little cottage

The cottage, just outside Havelock North, was a great place to stay, had all the amenities required, fridge, oven, dishwasher etc. Very peaceful and a very short drive to cafes and shops in the township.

Lovely cottage

Cottage was perfect, with us being 2 couples enjoying a stay to play golf and explore local area. The cottage is very clean, with a short drive into Havelock North and hosts are easy to communicate with. Highly recommend staying here and looking forward to returning some time soon.

Relaxing getaway

Lovely, secure, easy hosts to deal with, well equipped and surprisingly spacious yet still maintains a cosy feel. With Havelock North just a couple of minutes' drive away.

Our second stay here

This was our second time staying at Lavenham Cottage. It's a great location close to Havelock North. A very relaxing place to stay and great for two couples to explore the area.

Fantastic Getaway-Relaxing and Convenient to Everything!

We can't say enough good things about our stay. The property was immaculately presented, well appointed, cosy and warm. Our hosts were wonderful as well and made us feel completely welcome. Lovely rural views and feel, but close to everywhere we wanted to go. Looking forward to another stay here.

BEST bookabach!

We loved this accommodation, serenaded by the birds and the sheep in the paddocks. It was new, fresh and clean and plenty of utensils etc for cooking. The peace was blissful, as well as Leonie and John being extremely friendly, but not obtrusive.

Really would rate this stay a 15, much higher than a 10!! Fabulous in every way! Thanks for everything -- clean , comfortable, spacious, with coffee/tea/milk/sugar, etc. Loved seeing the sheep all the time out the window. Would suggest another small step before the first big step and/or a railing for very senior persons. All was well!!

Do not recommend! Nice house but nasty host

Our stay at the cottage was disappointing. While the home itself was lovely, the host ruined our Hawkes Bay experience. On arrival, we were locked out by an electric gate which was not mentioned. Luckily we realised the gate code must be the same as the house code in the booking confirmation. The home was clean and tidy and had a lot of basic features, but lacked some simple staples e.g. sugar for coffee and washing facilities. One day of our stay it was 30+ degrees outside, so we decided to go to the local river for a swim. As no beach towels were provided, two towels were taken offsite and got a little bit of dirt on them. One of the house rules is as to text the owner upon check out, which we did. About an hour later, I received very angry texts from the host, accusing us of using the towels to clean bikes with and threatening us with a cleaning fee and reporting us to Book a Bach. I called the host to explain the situation and that it was a little bit of dirt, where she proceeded to get very angry and again threaten us with replacement towel fees and a bad review. I sincerely apologised and said we would pay any dry cleaning fees or replace the towels if needed, but she continued to be very rude and angry. This left me very shaken, especially considering we thoroughly cleaned the cottage (vacuuming, spray and wiping surfaces etc) and knowing that dirt easily comes out in a wash. I do not recommend staying here. It is not worth the money and the stress and anxiety caused. The host did not behave how a hospitality host should.

We are retired Havelock North locals who enjoy the quiet rural lifestyle on the boundary of the village. We live on the property in the separate main house, enjoy gardening, travel, and family time. The cottage is named after a medieval village in Suffolk, England, which has historical significance to our family.

Entry to Lavenham Cottage is through an automated security gate and tree-lined driveway. The cottage is stand-alone with its own parking area adjacent.

The new cottage has been purposely appointed for guests. Each of the king bedrooms at either end of the cottage has its own en-suite and French doors to the north-facing deck. The open plan living area features a stylish new kitchen, lounge with Chromecast and unlimited WiFi.

Lavenham Cottage is centrally located for accessing all that Hawke's Bay has to offer:
• 3km to Havelock North Village
• 7km to Hastings
• 18km to Napier
• Close to many wineries
• Easy access to bike trails

Havelock North Village has an abundance of cafes, restaurants and an array of diverse boutique stores and providores all set in a relaxed village atmosphere. Within a 10-minute drive from the cottage you will also find the highly regarded Black Barn, Craggy Range and Te Mata Estate wineries along with many more. A 20-minute scenic drive will take you to the stunning Te Awanga and Haumoana coastal area. The summer Black Barn Growers’ Market is nearby, and it's just a short drive to the substantial Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market.
