Located at the exclusive St Andrews Beach on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, The Coastal Cottage provides a perfect setting for a weekend getaway or home for your next family holiday. The freshly renovated, double-storey coastal-meets-hamptons style property is nestled amongst the tea-trees, set well back from the street for maximum privacy, and features a large wrap-around deck + entertaining area. The beach is a short walk and you will love going to sleep to the sound of the crashing waves.
The Coastal Cottage provides the perfect base to explore the Mornington Peninsula. The property is a short drive from surf/bay beaches, hot springs, award-winning golf courses, bush walks and wineries/breweries:
Local Beach Access | 1 minute drive or 5-7 min walk to Rye Back Beach Car Park (1km); 6 minutes drive to Gunnamatta Surf Beach (Patrolled) (6km); 7 minutes drive to Rye Front (Bay) Beach (6km).
Local Shops | 20 minute walk (or 3 minute drive) to Rye Back-Beach Shops including Milk Bar, Bottle Shop, 3941 Fish n Chip/Pizza Shop, Hunter (Vegan) Cafe and Store360 General Store (2.8km).
St Andrews Beach Brewery | 2 min drive (2.5km).
Peninsula Hot Springs | 5 min drive (7km).
St Andrews Beach Golf Course | 2 min drive (1.8km).
WHERE YOU WILL SLEEP
Bedroom 1 (Downstairs) | Queen Size Bed, with a tall rattan cabinet for your luggage, french doors opening out onto the front porch and a ceiling fan to keep you cool.
Bedroom 2 (Upstairs)* | Queen Size Bed, with cupboards for folded clothes plus hanging space, a comfy armchair to snuggle up with a good book and french doors opening out to a small balcony overlooking the front of the property.
Bedroom 3 (Upstairs)* | Queen Size Bed, with a chest of 6 drawers for your clothes/belongings and views over the rear deck and the sand dunes in the distance.
*Note there is a reverse cycle air con/heating unit in Bedroom 3 that will service the upstairs area.
Have a Little One? A Portable Cot w/Sheets + Blanket available on request at the time of booking.
LINEN + BATH TOWELS
Pillowcases, doona covers, sheets for all three queen size beds and bath towels (1 per guest) provided for your stay.
BATHROOMS
We have two newly renovated, stylish bathrooms that you are just going to love - one main bathroom inside (with a bathtub) and the other off the rear deck (perfect for a quick shower post beach or if you want to be a little closer to nature). We provide bath wash, shampoo and conditioner for your stay.
OUTSIDE INCL. THE DECK + ENTERTAINING AREA
We have a gorgeous wrap-around porch and large entertaining deck at the rear amongst the tea-trees and overlooking the sand dunes in the distance including:
~A large aggregate concrete driveway with a basketball ring and basic fire-pit. The driveway is perfect for scooting and bike-riding and can comfortably park 4 cars.
~The front porch has a comfy, reclining day bed that sits two.
~The rear deck has a large outdoor dining table that seats 12, a large outdoor lounge and outdoor Gasmate kitchen feat. a double fridge and 6-burner BBQ and wok-burner.
THE KITCHEN
We have a full kitchen with everything you should need for your stay including a Nespresso Coffee Pod Machine (+ Milk Frother), Kettle, Toaster, Microwave, large double gas oven, NutriBullet and handmixer. We also maintain (where possible) handy condiments e.g. oils, tomato sauce, salt and pepper etc. We include complementary tea (english breakfast/earl grey/peppermint), coffee pods and hot chocolate.
THE LAUNDRY
We have a full laundry for use during your stay including a washer, dryer and washing powder/fabric softener. We also keep a few laundry essentials in there like a bucket/mop/spray-and-wipe.
THE LOUNGE ROOM + DINING
We have a cosy lounge equipped with throw rugs, 43" LG Smart TV (with ability to login to your Netflix, Binge, Kayo etc) and puzzles/board games. The three sets of french doors in the lounge room open up onto the wrap-around porch to maximise the indoor/outdoor living space and when open create a gorgeous sense of being amongst nature. We have a dining table for 6 overlooking the rear deck.
AIR CONDITIONING + HEATING
We have a split-system air-conditioner/heater in the main living area to service the downstairs and a second unit upstairs in Bedroom 3 to service upstairs. There is also a ceiling fan in Bedroom 1 downstairs. We recommend opening the windows with fly-screens where possible to cool down the property in the warmer months as the sea breeze provides the most perfect natural air-con. Both units must be turned off when you are not in the home.
GUEST ACCESS
You will have access to the full property (except for the garden shed and two locked cupboards).
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Outdoor Cameras | We have two outdoor cameras on the property (front and rear) for security purposes.
No parties or Large Group Bookings | The Coastal Cottage is not a party house and no large group bookings (e.g. schoolies) will be accepted.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council "Short Stay Rental Accommodation Local Law" (Registration No: STRA0195/23) | Under this Law: Prohibited, unacceptable behaviour on the property includes aggressive behaviour, yelling, screaming and arguing and loud cheering, clapping and singing; no tents, caravans, campervans or similar are allowed on the property; the outdoor deck at the property cannot be used between the hours of 11.00 pm to 7.00 am.
NO FOOD/DRINK/SHOES IN CARPETED AREAS
No food/drinks/shoes in all carpeted areas of the property.
NO SMOKING
No smoking on the property.
