  • Nice Place to Stay in a Plain Wrapper

"Three couples came to visit Niagara Falls, two of us for the first time. It was a lovely stay. The location is GREAT. It is in a quiet neighborhood but is an easy 25 minute walk to the falls and even closer to the Whirlpool and Whitewater Walk. The house is a block from the Niagara River. Dining and shopping options are reasonably close for walking as well If you don't object to walking, this ia a real advantage because parking at the falls is expensive. The house is old and pretty plain on the outside and the exterior needs work. But the inside is freshly painted, clean and decorated with some interesting antiques. Appliances are all in good working order and the dishwasher and washer and dryer are new. The beds are comfortable (2 queens downstairs, 2 doubles upstairs) and the there is a nice openness to the living/kitchen area. The shower in the downstairs bathroom is very small, but the upstairs bath has a tiled shower/bath tub. The stairs are narrow and steep. I would recommend this property to anyone as a good place to stay in Niagara Falls, ON."

  • Better than the pictures

"We were extremely happy with our stay in Orchard Cottage! The pictures do not do justice, as there have been improvements made since they were taken. We stayed in mid-June for 7 days, and the front flowerbeds were lovely, the owner has added a roof to the patio, and a nice patio table and chairs, which made it our favorite place to be, and the kids enjoyed playing in the yard. The street and neighborhood are extremely quiet, and the fence made the backyard very private. We are not city people, but we were very comfortable here! And it was great to walk to the falls--the funicular and great views were only about 7 blocks away. We walked to the Falls many times, even with 3 kids 10 and under (stroller advisable for the younger set), and it was very do-able. Clifton Hill is a bit far though, on foot. Skylon Tower is visible from just down the sidwalk (a house obscures the direct view). The house itself was great, with a good-size dining table, fridge, stove, dishwasher, 3 bedrooms (basement room with 2 twins, upstairs room with a double, and large upstairs room with 2 beautiful queens(?). We enjoyed the luxury sheets on the queen bed! It was great to have the 1 1/2 baths, and the laundry area in the basement was a nice bonus (including ironing board, laundry basket, etc), and very roomy if you need extra storage. A very small downside is that the living room is a tad small, but we still had lots of seating room for the 5 of us, and there is enough room to add dining room chairs for extra seating if necessary. Everything was well-equipped, and John and Chris were great hosts (thank you for letting us stay in your house!). They had a guest book full of nice comments from previous guests (since 2013). The bottom line: we would definitely come back again, and recommend to others."

  • Nice stay

"House was clean and well arranged in overall. It is close to Niagara falls(guess around 30min on foot). We used car as we had little ones. There was wego bus station so it would be another option. Few suggestions I would comment on the house... 1) The black reclining couch was aged and the skin of it was all over the places in the living room. It would be better if it is replaced or removed. 2) Few burbs at Kitchen are out so it was a bit dark. Living room is also a bit dark so I brought lamps on upstairs down to make the space brighter. 3) BBQ grill is not very clean. Didn't use it. 4) Back yard is not well maintained. These things didn't bother us too much but it would be much much happier stay for the people coming next. Thanks to Emily who helped me out for the reservation."
