  • Excellent Location, Fabulous Accommodation & Great Management

"My wife and I enjoyed a week at this location in early December 2016. We rented the Penthouse Suite and it is everything it promises to be and more. The "more" being the service that the is provided by the owner manager! We chose this location as we wanted to be close to the start of the Barbados Marathon. You couldn't get closer than this, as the event takes place on the Esplanade which is just next door to this vacation rental. Yet, the soundproofing of this building is so good that you wouldn't know that a sporting event is taking place just outside of your accommodations! The pictures provided with this property are exactly as portrayed. As are all of the extra's that are mentioned; the umbrellas, the BBQ, the deck chairs. Upon arrival, there was also a bottle of wine waiting for us to enjoy which was most appreciated. Both of the bedrooms are air conditioned, the floors are all nicely tiled and the best area of all is the huge open air terrace. (The air conditioning is nice to have but we found we didn't really use it a lot as the air here is so nice.) The furnishings are all modern and very up to date. There is a safe in the room, Bluetooth accessories and a big screen TV....not that we used these that much either as we were always at the beach or out seeing the sights. Also, power is available for both North American and European travelers which I find is a very nice feature. Shopping and eating out are just short walks and/or bus rides away. There is really no need for a car when you stay here. Besides, the short walk out your door and to the beach is where you'll probably be spending most of your time. The beach here is tremendous and it truly is where all of the snorkel tour companies come to look for turtles. The water was always calm, clear, completely safe and yes, there were turtles present. We will certainly return here the next time we come to Barbados! Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!"

  • Super Spot to Relax

"We stayed a week in this wonderful apartment owned by Gertrud who lives downstairs. The apartment is great for a couple (with or without kids). Our favorite part is the huge deck that overlooks the ocean. It never occurred to us what a great thing it is to have an outdoor kitchen but it meant that we could be outside with the view and weather while making breakfast or dinner. We spent most of our time on this deck. We also really enjoyed walking down the beach and swimming right outside the gate. Very peaceful. Gertrud is a wonderful host and has lived on the island a long time. She is full of information about things to do and how things work - thanks Gertrud! As others have said a car is really useful and allows you to get around. We drove into Bridgetown for bbq chicken (twice as it was so good) as well as going out twice and cooking at the apartment. We would go again in a heartbeat!"

  • Location, location, location! Sooooooo nice.

"Location, location, location! We are in #9, and true to the listing there is no view (although opening the windows to the parking lot there are no cars and a lot of greenery). But you really ARE steps from a grassy/garden area and that in turn in next to the BEACH. Paradise Beach is pretty much empty, shallow, and totally lovely. For swimming and paddle boarding (call Ryan at What' SUP Barbados) we did not see a better beach anywhere around the island. Past that you get to Batts Beach, and 0.5 miles from Freshwater you run into rocks and that's it. In the other direction you have Brighton Beach which is fronted by houses and also mostly empty, then further on Brandon's Beach which has some facilities like bathroom and small restaurant and some more people relaxing about. At 1.15 miles from Freshwater is a rock wall and Bridgetown kind of begins. In between is the "Hot Pot" which is a hot water cooling exhaust from the Barbados Light and Power plant; locals come to bathe in the somewhat sulphurous waters. The power plant is mostly not visible from Freshwater Bay Apartments or Paradise Beach so it didn't really bother us. Next to that and by the Hot Pot is a rum refinery which according to Ryan used to produce all the Malibu rum in the world. Mount Gay is produced literally down the road where you can take a tour, and further on is the Agapey Chocolate excellent tour. Up the coast in Holetown we had nice meals at Just Grillin' (casual), and Il Tempio and Zecchio's which are fancier. We loved this place and are discussing if we could come back for a month!"

  • Lovely and Charming

"Especially liked the modernized kitchen and restrooms. Would recommend softer bed linens and towels on the nice firm mattresses. Located out of the way but preferred it to staying at a crowded resort. A nice home away from home. Track and Field events (at the bottom of the hill) 4-5 days of our visit started at 9 a.m.ish!"
