  • Delightful experiences and adventures along the Caribbean Sea coast!

"Casa de la Musa is a great place to stay on the southern coast line of the Caribbean Sea in Costa Rica. The home is located off the main road, away from traffic. You'll hear the ocean waves about 60 meters from the home and feel the breeze from the ocean most of the time. A short walk down the pathway takes you directly to the ocean front. The home is surrounded by jungle and abundant wildlife is seen and heard often. Howler monkeys awoke us and a tri-colored heron fished from the shore. The weather is perfect with warm evenings and days! The home was very comfortable and provided a relaxing vacation. Walking on the beach is easy in both directions. Excellent swimming is available along the beach. We snorkeled just off the beach in front of the house and saw colorful fish. Biking and kayak rentals are available nearby. There are restaurants within walking distance and many more in short driving or biking distance."

  • Family loved it!

"Genny and her family are living the dream - and you can share it :) - their property is very well kept and is surrounded on 3 sides by rainforest. We heard birds all day and frogs at night, saw blue morpho butterflies flutter by, a couple of toucans come through and hunted for frogs by their pond. The house is very well equipped and the perfect size for us (a family of 4). The casa is a short walk to the black beach and good snorkeling is just a bit further toward town. We had a car, but you could get along without it - beach, markets, restaurants and shops all close walking distance (5-10 minutes). Some good eats nearby - Ghetto Girl Soda (my kids liked their chocobananos) and Bread and Chocolate was great too - the first, Ghetto girl, is closer, cheaper & the plates were huge and Bread and Chocolate was fancy and more expensive (try something with the BBQ jerk sauce) but both were excellent! Go and have a great time!"

  • Welcoming hostess at a great little spot close to everything

"Enjoyed our 8 days at this cozy little cassita close to town. Lisa was very helpful but not at all intrusive, just the right balance. We found lots to keep us entertained and had time to relax at the many beautiful beaches. I would recommend this rental property to others looking for a casual atmosphere with easy access to beaches, town, nature parks, animal rescue centers, bars, restaurants, etc. We did not need a car during our stay, bikes are a popular mode of transport."

  • One of the best VRBO experiences we've had! Beautiful home & garden in the jungle, walk to beach!

"My husband and I stayed for 8 nights and loved every minute! Tom & Jana arranged our transportation from San Jose, which was a huge relief. They were great resources for local info about restaurants, sights & flora/fauna. We sat on the big front deck and watched poison dart frogs and geckos on the big tree, enjoyed our gift of wine and chocolates. We loved that the house had screens, but that they opened to allow us to lean out the windows to take photos. The property is immaculate (we own a cleaning company & are very picky). I was hesitant to rent a place without a/c, but we never once felt hot. There are ceiling fans inside and on the deck, and there is always a generous ocean breeze (never saw one mosquito!). We cooked several meals in the kitchen and had everything we needed. Tom drove us to the grocery store in town the night we arrived and even helped us choose ripe fruit. There is also a small neighborhood store about a 3 minute walk from the casita. We had plenty of clean towels plus beach towels and mats. There are 2 bikes provided and when one had a flat, Tom had it fixed while we had breakfast. There are 2 boogie boards as well, though we never used them. My biggest concern before our trip was about safety, but we never felt unsafe anywhere in Costa Rica. The property is gated and fenced, the neighbors are pleasant, and the neighborhood feels very safe. Tom and Jana also provide a cell phone for use while you're there and we felt like if we were to have had any trouble in town, we could call or text for a rescue. We walked home from the beach (but never town, take a cab!) after dark & there were many people out, including children. I can't say enough good things about the property, the area and Tom & Jana. When there were 7 sloths in trees out front, they let us know and pointed each one out. We have photos of toucans sitting next to sloths in the trees near the house. We saw too many birds to count, including 2 red-lored parrots on our first day. The sounds are incredible -- we loved hearing the howler monkeys every morning and evening. Tom also drove us to the ARA project to see the green macaws, not just one of the highlights of our trip, but one of the highlights of my life. In addition, he took us on a hike to a stunning waterfall & to a great local fried chicken place in Bri Bri. On our last night we joined them for dinner and went to Lazy Mon for music/sunset. They helped turn a great vacation into a magical one!"
