  • Family getaway to the Caribbean Coast? This is the perfect destination!

"There aren't enough superlatives to do justice to our stay at Caribe Town. We were in such good hands when we landed in the care of Jessica and Marc. They do everything you expect => very clean and well appointed accommodations, delicious and ample breakfasts, amenities that make a stay easier (laundry service available, kitchen access which makes traveling with kids so much easier, beach towels... we wanted for nothing.) And then... they go above and beyond what you require. They found a location for my husband to play tennis - no small accomplishment! They made special food to meet the dietary restrictions of our family. They are available and so happy to help with whatever you need. Jessica was super communicative before we arrived, answering questions and helping with directions. She made a massage appointment for me. (And this, people, is not to be missed. A massage by the magical Helena, surrounded by the jungle! If you are lucky as I was, it will rain. I listened to the rain while my troubles were massaged away. It was bliss.) They offered great restaurant recommendations and more... We were treated to Pipa, cut fresh out of the trees right there at Caribe Town. My son watched them chop a bunch of bananas from the tree before we'd even taken the suitcases from the car. We were vistied by sloth and toucans, iguanas and frogs. The birds and frogs and rain sang us to sleep at night. We explored the reef and tide pools and jumped monster waves in the sunshine during the day. The beautiful and minimally populated beach of Playa Cocles is just across the road. Perfect location. Perfect hosts. Costa Rica at its finest. Can I give them 6 stars?"

  • Lovely house, convenient location

"For our family of young and older adults, this was absolutely the most perfect house and location. Restaurants, stores and beaches are within close walking distance. Punta Uva, the town of Puerto Viejo, and attractions like the Jaguar Rescue Center are within easy biking or walking distance (including the restaurant La Pecora Nera). The jungle is all around, but the property is completely secured by fencing and there's a feeling of security as well as privacy. The managers (Mao when we were there) were so helpful, before and during our visit, and always available. The saltwater pool was lovely, and we had it all to ourselves since we rented the entire house. Star-gazing from the lounge chairs by the pool at night was amazing. Every morning we walked along the dirt road through the jungle to the beach to watch the sunrise. We took flashlights to see the leaf-cutter ants doing their thing along the path. Some mornings the howler monkeys would be right up overhead, which was thrilling to hear. There were so many different birds in the area around the house, including toucans. On the beach, where the nearby creek feeds into the ocean, there was a variety of shore birds there every morning. At the house, we spent most of our time at the pool or upstairs in the open kitchen area. It was always comfortable, with a ceiling fan as well as a floor fan and plenty of seating for six, including rockers and a hammock. It was the dry season so we had no problems at all with mosquitoes. The bedrooms were air conditioned, which provided a nice break from the humidity. The bedrooms also had screened windows that could be opened if preferred to a/c. We cooked a lot of our meals and found the kitchen well-equipped. If you rent the entire house there is also an indoor kitchen downstairs, but we didn't use it at all. There's a charcoal grill by the pool that we used one night to grill some fresh fish. Plenty of towels are provided, with extras for the pool. If you rent for an entire week, someone will come mid-week to clean, bring clean towels, and even change the sheets if you want. We loved the house. Away from the crowds of Puerto Viejo, but within biking distance, close to Playa Cocles (with a lifeguard and surfboard rentals), surrounded by nature, but also in the midst of a vibrant community, it was the perfect location for our family--just what we were looking for."

  • perfect getaway

"My wife and I wanted to check out Costa Rica and were a little apprehensive, not knowing much about the country , but we saw this ad and decided to go for it! We flew into San Jose and stayed there for the night then got a shuttle the next morning to Puerto Viejo. They took us right to the front door, no problems at all! Susanna who manages the property lives three houses down and met us there. She gave us a list of fun things to do along with numbers of people to call to help with different tours. The property is absolutely beautiful! We immediately fell in love with the area. I would describe it as very "laid back". Most people either walk or ride bikes. We walked along the beach into town most days, which in reality is more like a 30 minute walk, but one where you thoroughly enjoy each moment! The ocean is breathtaking and at times you truly have your own private beach right outside your back yard! We wanted to see how the locals lived and we noticed that everyone just seemed happier and less stressed than in the states. We found our own little "soda" or small open air restaurant that we loved where we could get a great meal for $6. There is much to do there if you feel like it. We did visit a wildlife preserve and a cocoa farm close by. But the greatest thing was just walking along the beach, taking a dip in the ocean or relaxing in the swimming pool. We were there only a week but can't wait to return! Once again, Susana was a great help and we would recommend this place to anyone! So glad we found it!"
