  • Family Getaway for the Holidays

"Villa Kristina Maria was the perfect home for our family/friends to get away for the holidays! It was more beautiful than expected. We had lots of room, never felt crowded with 7 people. Mornings were glorious sitting on the wrap around porch, drinking coffee and being delighted by the toucans, monkeys, parrots and iguanas in the surrounding rain forest. We equally enjoyed the evening sunsets over the ocean from the upper deck. Afternoons were made comfortable with a dip in the pool. We found the driveway to be part of the adventure. Claire, our host provided clear directions on how to get from Uvita to the house, including guidelines on how to navigate the driveway. It only took one run and it was old hat. Claire was a gracious host, albeit from afar, but we knew the caretaker was close if needed. We felt totally safe and secure in the home and thoroughly enjoyed venturing into town and the surrounding areas. We recommend exploring the Whales Tail, Kayaking in the Mangroves, swimming in the local waterfalls, and zip lining with Osa Canopy Tours to name a few. Claire shared lots of ideas on what to do and where to eat and she is friends with the Uvita Information Center and they provided great service and advice. If you are seeking the best of the jungle and ocean, in a tranquil setting and willing to drive 7 minutes up a dirt road to experience it, than VKM is the place to be. BRING binoculars! and sunscreen, and be prepared for dampness. (The ceiling fans gave some relief) There is no air conditioning and we liked it that way, keeping the house open. Pura Vida!"

  • Family Vacation

"I would like to say thank you to Stephanie and John for everything. They make you feel welcome from the beginning to the end. When you arrive at the condo you are greeted down stair with open arms and they take you to the condo. The condo is exactly the way you see it in the picture. As for the view it is amazing and the location was perfect. Staying at this condo made me feel at home. Any problem you have John was there right away to help you as soon as possible. The town is very close by so you can walk to the town or just pay a small taxi fee of $2 to $3 to and from the town. Security is 24 hours at the gate which make you feel safe. Another thing that stand out was the way Stephanie give you a personal cell phone to walk with to call local numbers and a house phone to call any where in the US for free. There lot of activities to do and lots of food to eat. One of the places that we ate at that was great is the TACO BAR which we ate there twice. The people in Jaco are very friendly and nice and make you feel welcome to the town. My family and I had such an amazing time in Costa Rica that we wasn't ready to come back. Thank you, Stephanie and John"

  • Beautiful Honeymoon

"We could not have asked for a better honeymoon! The grounds are spacious and gorgeous with nature all around you. Wonderful views all the way to the ocean. (I have many videos of the plant and animal life in the yard) The neighbors are so far away, you feel as though you are on your own island! It was very private. In the early morning and evening, the toucans would come out and call to one another in the trees on the property. The house even provided a telescope to see into the rainforest which surrounds the house. We came during the rainy season and it did rain some, but it was so warm out that it was fun to go swimming. The house provides so much: a pool table, bbq, outdoor shower, 2 hammocks, pool lounges, workout equipment, a ping pong table, A/C, an indoor spa tub, a juicer, a t.v., telescope, an on site nature trail, 24 hour security with Juan and Raul and a wonderful, personal host, Jose, who helps you do anything you'd like to do! He can recommend and set up a catamaran adventure, zip line, a nature walk with a waterfall and pools to swim in, massages, facials, restaurants, nightlife and the list goes on and on! His knowledge of the people and culture were of such value to us. Even getting to the grocery store! There are a couple restaurants that became our go-to for an impromptu night out. And if we wanted to eat in, we popped round to the local grocery store and stocked up on goodies for the fridge. Quepos and Manuel Antonio were about a 20minute drive away. When we were craving a pizza, we went in to town for a great pie! Everything you could want was so close and almost everyone speaks English. (Although when we go back I hope to be much more fluent in Spanish) We definitely plan on coming back with friends and family. This was more than we hoped for!"

  • Exceptional stay!

"The communication with Gavin from start was very good. Few days/week before the arrival date Gavin emailed us directions. Although the photos are good, the house actually looks better in life. The views from both floors are stunning. The whole house is decorated in very relaxing color. The quality of finish is also very good. The villa is fully equipped also incl. washing machine and tumble drying. The whole house is fully air-conditioned. We haven’t seen any insects, flies or mosquitoes inside the house. As long as you keep the balcony doors closed at dark there will be no flying insects inside the house. No mosquito mesh above bed was needed and no bites experienced. The site is covered by security guard from 6am to 6pm, the security was very helpful and spoken fair English. The villa is located in estate with a number of similar villas. The villa is spacious, also the internet connection is good. Private parking next to villa. So summarizing about the house – it was actually perfect, it really was. Getting to the villa from San Jose is via highway and standard car could be sufficient enough. I would say that you don’t need 4x4 car, it may be useful on the internal steep hill of the estate where the villa is located. The villa is located in a close distance from the highway. We were worried that it may be loud at night, but there is almost no traffic at night, so perfectly fine. General safety in the area. Each day we were leaving the beach 30min after sunset, coming back/walking back to the villa at dark–looking at nearby football pitch with thousands of fireflies. We did shopping at Dominical at 8pm few times and no problems. We felt very safe in Dominical area anyway. The nearby beach is almost empty – during the day you can hide under the shade of trees overhanging above the beach-this means that we staid on the beach for almost all day without sunburns. The water in Ocean was the warmest I’ve ever experienced. There are lots of coconuts that you can just pick, peal and drink from. The beach is sandy with occasional rocks that you need to look for under water. We visited local Osa Canopy & Tour Dolphin watching from local tour operator – Bahia Aventuras – both very good. Overall I wish we could stay longer. If we go back to CR, we would love to stay again at this villa in Dominical, so hopefully it will be still available."
