  • Beautiful hidden gem next to a warm ocean!

"My family and I stayed here 10 days over Christmas/ New Year. Prior to arrival , communication was pretty good with the owner Jossie. We arrived late on Christmas Eve and arranged to meet Chello in the square at Zacaulpan. However, driving in the dark, being given wrong directions by a gas station attendant and a major road being dug up and re routed, our arrival was over 2 hours late and was not the best start to the vacation. Jossie was very accommodating over the phone and helpful and eventually we found our way. In the light of day, we found the Villa to be very beautiful. The road leading to the villa is not for the faint hearted. It has craters, not pot holes, so you need to keep your eyes peeled! The Villa is very well equipped, although it did not have the mosquito nets hanging, the hammock or music library as stated. Chello came 8 days of our 10 to clean. We prepared all of our own food. There is a T.V, which thankfully we did not need to use too much but it is only for D.V.Ds and the selection was not great. A lot did not work due to the region and unless you like horror films, the choice was not so great. We only used the T.V a little bit but as a suggestion, for families travelling with small children, it might be nice to have some more options for little ones for the rare times T.V might be needed. The beach (Playa de Tortugas) was lovely. Desserted and stretched for miles. Ocean was lovely and warm. No lifeguards but on different days the current was quite safe. Our 4 and 7 year old boys loved it. Although there are 14 properties, you never felt over looked by neighbours. Each villa is unique. If you want an escape from noise, technology and traffic, this is a prime destination. Negatives: *Community pool had very little beds to use and pool was icey cold. *It would be nice to have more information at the villa of excursions and local information. Could not find the mentioned suggestion/ notebook? *Maybe some family board games to use would be nice for quiet nights in. *Beds VERY firm. Those are minor details, to an otherwise perfect trip. Platanitos was great for local fish and very local restaurants. Tortillas amazing at Restaurant Ruiz! Would definitely return to the area. Its very unspoilt."

  • Great house

"Just returned from a wonderful trip to Casa Soledad. The house was perfect for two couples. The view is simply beyond words! For anyone looking for an out of the way destination, this home will not disappoint. The pool is solar heated and perfect for my early morning dips."

  • Villa Mananitas- Paradise

"My family just returned from Playa Las Tortugas, and our 7 night stay at Villa Mananitas. We had an absolutely spectacular time, from the 100 ft walk to the beach, to the warm Pacific waters, to the gorgeous villa, to the stunning pool, it was all perfect. The staff (with a special "thank you" to Pascual and Chela) was there for our every need. We had 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts cooked for us and they were all delicious. The landscaping was flawless, and our gardener tended to the pool and grounds every morning. You could never leave the villa and have the time of your life, but the beach is fantastic. We had a great time doing the following- wading across to have lunch at Platanitos, a half-day of fishing out of Platanitos, an afternoon kayak session in the estuary, and a 2 hr horseback ride along the empty beach. We will be back. One note- the 3rd bedroom is separate from the main house, so not ideally suited for a young child to sleep in alone. But nicely appointed with a private restroom and shower."

  • Great beach house with local Mexican vibe

"We had an amazing holiday at the Chacala Beach house. As two families we wanted the convenience of an all inclusive on the beach but with flexibility for food and excursions. We found it ALL for kids 3-13 years old with interests ranging form boogie boarding, sand castle building, swimming, fishing, hiking, volley ball, and just hanging out. Location - right on a beautiful beach (nicer than Sayulita's) with amazing sunsets and unlike most other houses in Chalcala, just outside the compound gates are groceries, tortilla-ria, juice bar, surfer pizza (they deliver!) - everything you need. All of the locals are really friendly without being pushy and accommodate those without Spanish with friendly smiles. We ran a tab with the restaurant next door to have nachos and beverages delivered in the afternoon, breakfast buffet and great dinners at affordable prices and they take credit cards, otherwise bring pesos. Or choose to eat in and the owners insist you let Claudia, the daily housekeeper, do ALL of the dishes. House - right on the beach with great sunset view and we felt very safe and comfortable with the indoor and outdoor layout. Beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and each have an en-suite . Sleeping arrangements are flexible, but each bedroom opens and locks to the outdoor compound area. So, with young children who need night access to their parents the casita is perfect with 1 bedroom, plenty of sleeping space for 3 children and a kitchen. Main Kitchen is small but comfortable, outdoor dinning space is great, good lounge chairs, but no couch or lounge zone inside. We loved that the house came with beach towels, boogie boards, beach toys and private palapas on the beach. Activities - we did excursions every other day including hiking the local volcano, fishing with Roberto (caught 3 yellow fin tuna in 2 hours!), hike to petroglyphs, local market day at la Penita and a great trip to San Blas to take a river tour to see crocodiles, birds, turtles followed by a swim - all were fun for all ages and very chill. Transportation - as a group of 9 we highly recommend contacting Trini's Shuttle Service. Juan met us at the airport, took us on all the excursions on our time and had lots of local knowledge and advice including great inexpensive restaurants and all without the "tour" feel. The convenience was amazing and the cost was less than renting cars / van. Fun village, great beach and plenty to do - without the hassles of crowded all-inclusives."
