  • Perfect location, sweetly decorated

"We loved the location of this condo. The walk to the beach is literally one short block, and unlike other towns in the North County, there are only about a dozen steps down to the sand. There was plenty of beach gear available to use- blanket, umbrella, toys, etc. There isn't much in the way of restaurants to walk to, but for us, being able to walk to the beach is most important, and this condo nails it!"

  • Lovely Home in Old Del Mar

"We had a great visit at the Enchanted Cottage in Old Del Mar. The house is accurately portrayed in the photos, eclectic and quaint. It is EXTREMELY well stocked, easily the best stocked VRBO we have ever stayed at. We slept great, it was a treat to have three bedrooms (MUCH better than cramming in at a hotel). Even though it is a quick walk to the restaurants and shops in Old Del Mar the house is quiet at night. Every house has it's own rhythm, and this house is a "wake up early" kinda house, in the best sorta way, you roll over in bed and the sun is shining, the birds are singing, a breeze is coming in, you feel rested :), so you check the time, and it's 6:15 ...what?!, we don't have to get up, yay! Or you can get up, and sit for a bit relaxing in the garden, or happily get a jump on the day, or take an early walk to the beach to watch all the surfers (the beach is quite a walk away, uphill coming back). It's a great house to get some down time between adventures."

  • Amazing!

"This property is perfect for a family vacation. It is literally across the street from the beach, a block from lifeguard headquarters and amazing oceanfront restaurant (which is kid friendly) and the complex pool is right outside your door. There is a great play ground on the ocean front 2 blocks away and Del Mar village is a short 3 block walk with some great stores and lots of good restaurants and Starbucks which was a perk! The rental is stocked with everything you need for cooking basics like oil and spices and sauces like ketchup and salad dressing not to mention all the baby supplies they have like a high hair, baby gate and play pen. They have beach chairs and toys that were a hit with our kids. Nina who manages the rentals is awesome. Super helpful and responds promptly to any questions you may have. I would recommend this property to anyone really and I'm sure we will be back. One thing to be aware of is the train goes right by the home. This didn't bother us at all and the kids loved it but if you're sensitive to sounds or a light sleeper bring your ear plugs. Definitely shouldn't be a deal breaker but something to be aware of. All in all this is one of the best rentals we have used! Thanks so much!"

  • Ideal Location for Family Celebration

"We spent a week in this beach house to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary. It was the perfect place to create some lasting family memories. There were 9 people and three generations (children are 6 and 9) and the beach house was perfect for all of us. We stay in a lot of vacation rentals and this was the best layout we've ever seen. There was plenty of room for everyone to both be together or get some alone time, if needed. The shared space and upstairs rooms were very spacious and all rooms were well-decorated and comfortable. Even the smaller rooms downstairs had enough space for all of our stuff to fit comfortably. The outside patio was beautiful and comfortable, with plenty of room for all of us and some visitors we had for an afternoon. Everything was in working order, very clean and very well-stocked, including lots of towels, a well-stocked kitchen, games and a great TV room with a huge couch which we all fit in to watch family videos. The kitchen wasn't just well-stocked but had enough for all of us and more, plus the "starter spices" were much more than just starter and they were fresh, unlike those we have seen in some places-just an indication of the care that they put into the whole house. They provided everything we needed for the trip and more! Of course the highlight was the beach. It was just blocks away...an easy walk for even my Uncle, who uses a walker. They provided chairs, shade, boogie boards, sand toys, a cart to carry it all and the softest beach towels ever. We really felt like Bruce and Tracy did everything they could to make sure our stay was comfortable. Having Tracy on-site was great as she could help us with whatever we needed. She was very helpful in finding a restaurant, showing us how everything worked in the house and even giving tips on where the best place on the beach. She was friendly and knowledgable. One thing to note is that they are very serious about the noise restrictions and no parties. This is a residential neighborhood. The McDermotts are very open with their family photos and memories...this was their home...and it was a privilege to be allowed to share it for a little while. Definitely a place that was hard to leave...hopefully we can return someday."
