  • Perfect Getaway! Cabin and property are simply beautiful!

"Wonderful time meeting Doris, Odd, James, Casey, and the kids! They made us feel at home! The cabin was cozy and had all the amenities you could need! Indoor and outdoor fire pit. Our children loved the property and we already booked another stay! Can't wait to return! You will not be disappointed! -Savanah, Morgan, Brennan, & Emma"

  • Another fantastic stay

"This was our second stay at Big Pine, and we had a great time. Renee is very helpful if you need anything, the added ROKU was nice and the internet much faster this time as well. (We were the only people staying at the time) . My only complaint was the house down the hill is being remodled and all we could here for 2 of the days was a extremely loud air compressor as well as hammering while they redid the roof. This was a huge disappointment as we live next to a Navy helicopter base and really looked forward to some peace and quiet. But we also understand they have zero control over that, other than that, another great time at Big Pine"

  • Nice stay!

"The house is very nice, and very comfortable. 5 star location! Lots of wildlife! There are a couple of deer that visit the property every night, and a flock of turkeys that jog past every morning. It's pretty funny. It's like it's their morning fitness program. LOL. If you drive around for a few minutes you'll see more deer and turkeys than you've ever seen, and they're not scared to see you. Lots of fun if you don't have much experience with either, or if you're like us and it doesn't get old. The property is good sized, and is perfectly situated at the top of a nice little community where the wildlife is protected. The town of Julian is just a short drive, so it's easy to pop in to town for supplies and a quick bite. Beware though, if there is winter weather, you're better off enjoying the peace and quiet of the cabin, as the town is quickly overrun with tourists. The house itself is a little quirky, which is to be expected. Some are endearing and some not so much. As a retreat it's really nice that there's only one TV in the house, but it would be nice if you didn't have to be a rocket scientist to use it. The owner has a super overkill sound system connected, and a series of 4 remotes to make it all work. The system should be more user friendly, like removing the HDMI cable from the receiver and plugging it directly into the TV (hint), so common people, and their kids can watch. We also wondered about the sauna that is in the master bathroom? The master bath is a very nice addition to the house, but the sauna is so small is seems pointless. We would have really preferred a toilet in its place, so you don't have to leave the master suite to go to the restroom. The only real draw back to the stay is the owners cat room. There is a really nice room that was added on to the original home, with a very well placed fire place, that would be a great room to sit and watch wildlife from, except for the really bad cat odor that dominates. There are some people that aren't bothered by that, but we just avoided the room completely. If you're into nice walks and beautiful sunsets, you can experience both here."
