  • Wonderful Place - Unfortunately not ideal for a bigger group

"We had a marvelous stay at the house. The garden is wonderful especially if you come with smaller kids. It is fenced in. The kitchen is beautiful and we were able to comfortably sit with 7 people. I think this house is ideal if you travel with a family of 4 or less though. There is not much privacy inside the house. None of the bedrooms have doors and the downstairs bedroom only accommodates one person plus it is not suited for smaller kids (2 years or younger). The stair case leading downstairs is very steep and narrow. We were 7 guests, two adults slept in the living room on the pull out couch (which is right next to the bathroom), so zero privacy for them. Thank you."

  • I love Westcliffe

"I arrived just after Memorial Day and I was delighted to see Spring in the Sangre de Christos. Coming from a busy airport up into the mountains, it takes a while to get used to the quiet and the dark skies at night. The lodge is very cozy since the temperature is very mild at night and there is plenty of firewood which we used for fires in the fireplace and the campfire. Since my last visit there is a new horseshoe pit, a new fire pit by the lake, a basketball hoop, and alifeguard tower for the kids and a new swing by the lake. The sunsets were spectacular and there was lots of wildlife and birds. I saw a bald eagle and 9 white pelicans that migrate to the area each year. This is a rustic ranch property and we can make group meals and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. From the Lodge, you can see the Sangres and if there is a thunderstorm in the afternoon, it can be spectacular. Colorado is enjoying another year of good rain and everything was green with lots of wildflowers. The nearby Arkansas River is full and the raft rides are very fun. Be sure to bring bikes if you have them. Play games, read a good book, go into town for ice cream and plan to completely unplug and have a true rest."
