  • Awesome Vacation Location

"This was our second year and we are looking forward to our third visit to Mary's House. Awesome location for a quiet family vacation. We enjoyed the kayaks so much last year, that we have purchased some for ourselves and brought them along as well. The addition of paddle boards were a big hit with my son and oldest grandson. We would go out every morning for a 2 to 3 hour kayak/paddle board outing around the island and encountered baby hammerhead sharks feeding along the shore and dolphins at play. The game table was a hit every night. Looking forward to next year. Thank you Theresa for everything."

  • Excellent Stay on Apalachee Bay

"Because our home city was directly in the path of Hurricane Matthew, we were looking for a place to find shelter from the storm. Carroll's Haven provided that and much more. The owners were very welcoming, helpful , and responsive in making arrangements, and the house itself was beautiful. It has plenty of space -- two large bedrooms and bathrooms, an upstairs loft space perfect for children, an open kitchen, and comfortable living/dining rooms -- and a variety of modern conveniences. But what really makes this house is the location. It is perched right on the marsh adjacent to Apalachee Bay near Crawfordville in Wakulla County, Florida. The views from the living room, master bedroom, and deck are stunning. You can walk the boardwalk path to the dock for another great view. Plus, the house is in a quiet, secluded area that provides a nice break from the world. And to the west is one of the most beautiful drives in Florida -- along the Gulf Coast to Apalachicola. While the location is remote, you won't be bored. Tallahassee is only 30 minutes away. Plus, the area has numerous natural treasures to explore -- from Wakulla Springs State Park to St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge to Apalachicola National Forest. I'll definitely be interested renting this house again sometime in the future, and recommend it to others as well."

  • Beautiful, peaceful location

"My husband and I were headed to southwest Florida when we learned the red tide was really bad at our planned destination. It was also uncertain at that point where Hurricane Matthew was going to land. So we made a last minute change in plans and booked this location. We are so happy we did! It is an awesome location. Daily, we saw dolphins rounding up the mullet for dinner, a shark once, a puffer fish, a bald eagle and countless osprey, herons, egrets, shore birds and gull-like birds from this home. The home is nestled among the live oaks, palms, pines and laurels right on a narrow tidal marsh. My husband launched his kayak daily (just a 20 step walk thru the marsh grass) to go fishing in the flats. It gets afternoon shade and a beautiful gulf breeze. The view is beautiful. The home had everything we needed with a fully stocked kitchen, two flat screen televisions and a super comfortable bed. Our hosts were awesomely accommodating and easy to reach. Thanks so much to Kris and her team for pulling it together for us on such short notice! The fresh flowers, inside and out, were a great touch! We have rented lots of homes through VRBO and is the first home to ever have room to put away our things! The empty cabinet/pantry space in the kitchen was so appreciated! In the bedroom, there were empty shelves to store our clothes, towels, etc. This is a great location to venture out to discover the area. We visited Wakulla Springs, where we saw alligators, manatees and lots of birds. We took a boat up the St Mark's River, where we saw lots of birds, including king fishers and bald eagles, and an alligator. We rode down Bottom's Road, where we saw Wood Storks and Roseate Spoonbills (and bald eagles). Bald Point State Park has a beautiful white sand beach! Mineral Springs Seafood is a great place to purchase fresh seafood. The folks in there are super nice! If you go there, get some of the stuffed scallop bacon wrapped dip - yum. Hutton's Seafood (food truck) has really good shrimp dip. Mad Anthony's is a great place to eat out. I would recommend this spot if you are looking for a comfortable home with privacy and peace and quiet with lots of places to go explore. Thanks again to Kris and her team!!!"

  • Excellent Vacation Home.

"We really enjoyed our stay. Andrea was extremely easy to deal with and the house was outstanding!! Hurricane Hermine caused an early departure and Andrea was very helpful and informative with her advice on the storm. Thanks again Andrea!!! The house is perfectly located and the view is top notch. The sunrise over Saint Marks is breathtaking. While the photos in the ad are beautiful, they still don't do justice to taking it all in at once. Two thumbs up (just because two are all I have) LOL."
